Yes Deborah Harry said it’s not a rap song but an homage. But because Blondie was huge this was a global hit and introduced many millions around the world to rap. It was also the first time rap was played on MTV and broke it wide open ☺️
This video was so groundbreaking at the time and featured many appearances by celebrities, most importantly the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat who died at age 24 but his paintings have exceeded $100 million one work alone.
Ah Blondie was such a great band. Big disco vibes on this song. She was even rapping too. Disco was going out and hip hop was just starting during this era. Fun song.
This song is historical in that it was the first top-10 song in the US to feature rap lyrics. However, I would not consider it to be a true "rap song". Debby Harry (the lead singer) was a fan of this new style of music. They were playing a concert with another band called Chic when several people jumped on stage and started to freestyle with them. That lead to a group called The Sugarhill Gang, who actually released a full rap song before this song was released, and it made it to the top 40. The song is called "Rapper's Delight" and is considered. I highly recommend reacting to that song. The version is one that runs 6:16 and is a live performance.
hello my favourite baby girl, baby girl! 😉😘 This song is an interesting mix of styles - starting off with an almost funky beat behind the vocal before going into the rap. I think it was the first song with a rap in it, to get to Number One in the charts in the US and consequently opened up rap to the mainstream. As always - thanks for posting, and lots of love 💖💖
Love seeing my favorite baby girl. As for Blondie, she was one of my first boyhood crushes. Pure babe. This is one of those great song and videos that they could never make in modern times.
I had just started dating this girl when at her house, she asked me if I liked Elvis Costello which I said was ok. Shen then asked me if I had heard this one particular song of his which I hadn't. She then set it up, and said you have to listen to this alone and left the room. It was an amazing experience. I would encourage to to do the same to this song (it's not a channel request or anything) but hearing this song, alone in a room was very moving. I hope it gives you the same feeling. Thanks again for the upload. The song is (not being creepy, true story) I Want You, Elvis Costello. I hope you enjoy it as I did.
Hi, Mo. Yes, this song was also a little confusing for me when I first heard it, too. It's a classic piece of musical fun. I'm sure it wouldn't take you long to pick up the dance steps. Thanks for sharing your honest initial opinion and reaction to the song 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hi Morenikeji. This song I hear it not to much , but her Biggest hit in Holland was Denise Denise ! It was standing many weeks in the TOP 40 ! It’s nice to see her again. Thanks for your excellent choice, and Love from Holland ! 👍🫶🙋🏼♂️😘💐
The only two women that wrapped back in the day was Teena, Marie, and Debbie Harry, I love Teena Marie so much, but Debbie Harry is who brought wrap into the main stream! And she in Fab five Freddy were very good friends
Love your cute dimple's on your face your simply so beautiful and one amazing woman too love this song I seen Blondie in concert once thank you for sharing this video with us your awesome on it love it Mo.🌹❤️👍
Hey favourite straight-haired baby girl. I always loved that record. I had the album, AutoAmerican I think, and there was the long version of that song on there. I loved it but when they released it as a single it didn’t do as well as some of their others, possibly because of the rap or maybe just because it was a bit weird. You’ll get as many opinions as to what it’s about as there are opinions. So your guess is as good as anyone’s. I did read that Debbie just kind of extemporaneously created the rap on the fly. It made you smile which is always worth seeing.
I had such a crush on her when I was a teen! God, she was beautiful. As are you! I would love to see you react to Pink Floyd's song "Sorrow" live at PULSE concert in 1994. Thank you.
My favorit Blondie song is "Atomic" You should watch it. It a totally different melody and she really put her voice to the test, and shows us what she can do.
I thought you were going to dance at the end, like the guy in white in the video 😢 It will be the next time... take care, Mo...✌️ Lots of Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱😘👍
The fastest track gaining hits at the moment is Ren with "Hi Ren" but, beware, its not an easy listening track, very heavy with a tale to tell. its rap from the UK maybe first listen for Ren is his version of "Bittersweet Symphony" using that track with his rap.
Love this song as it was the first mainstream pop song to bring us Rap when Rap was underground, but since the I've not liked Rap with a silent C lol and I seen on a documentary that the Black Dancer in White top hat and tails is a Rap artist! I'd try any song off the Parallel Lines Album think it has most singles that made number 1 in the UK either equalling the Beatles or getting near can't remember even though I had a Picture disk and made a big profit selling it off when CDs just came in lol
I was a teenager when this came out. This is the song that brought rap to white kids. When we all heard it, we didn't know what to do with it! Blondie, a punk rock band, with rap in their song?! The rock kids rejected it. The rap kids rejected. Then, about a week later, it was on every radio station, car radio, at every party - everyone loved it! It was just like your reaction - when she started the rap, your face was just like "What?!", and then a big smile. :)
“Rapture” was released in 1980. “Rapper’s Delight” by The Sugar Hill Gang came out in 1979 and was the first rap song played on the radio. It also broke the Top 40 chart.
Love your dimples you so beautiful thank you for sharing this video with us love youtube so much like the vibe reaction too this song like that in you your always so awesome on your youtube channel love it.❤️❤️🌹👍 Love
It's a genius song. It's been called the first rap song. But I think Bob Dylan was singing rap-like songs back in the mid-1960s...a song like It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding.
Hey good day to you. When I first heard this , I said " Hey now who is that?!!!" I bought it ( before you could copy)and I bought it. It stays on my Playlist my dear. Don't focus on the lyrics. It's a little crazy, but fun.
Actually it goes back to the early 70's. Sugar Hill Gang and Grandmaster Flash are recognized as the first rap stylists, but Blondie's Rapture is officially the first #1 with rap in it ✌🏽
the man from mars gonna eat guitars and eat some cars and go out to bars hes gonna drink some jars and catch some sars hes gonna drink some tar downtown at the bar hes gonna take a car hes gonna go real far to the golf course hes gonna get a par hes gonna go real far with the man from mars hes gonna see some stars down at the bar hes gonna drive a car your doors ajar were gonna drive real far then we'll get out the car and have a spar at the seafood bar yeah
@@MorenikejiTaiwo Well Blondie didn't "invent" rap music: they were friends with some very early hip-hop artists in the late 1970s and through them, got to see some of the the original DJ and freestyle rappers. That inspired them to write this song, and since they were already an established mainstream act, this was the first rap song to get played on MTV.

First rap song to hit the top of the charts.
I always loved Blondie for their willingness to experiment and embrace different genres of music like disco and hip hop.
That's what Rock m roll is really about IMO
This video was so groundbreaking at the time and featured many appearances by celebrities, most importantly the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat who died at age 24 but his paintings have exceeded $100 million one work alone.
Wow, I had no idea that Jean-Michel Basquiat was in this video. I googled Jean-Michel Basquiat and Blondie and found many pictures of them together.
I believe Jean-Michel Basquiat is actually a member of The 27 Club.
Your reactions are always authentic and fun !
Thanks for the smile on my face !
May Gods Blessings be with you !
Amen and you too! thanks a lot!🥰

Hi Ms. Moren, As Bobby C. stated this is the first big hit song in the US that featured Rap Lyrics.. ♠W.G.
I loved the puzzled look on your face at the beginning of the song, til the rap part started, then your face really lit up.
Es muy grato ver a una mujer tan hermosa reaccionando a éstas canciones de los 80's ❤❤
The first Hit Single I ever bought along with David Bowie Ashes to Ashes.. cost £1.50 ea... I was 11 ...... Your "bob" has Grown Mo 😊

Can't say this enough-. Debbie Harry was one of the coolest people and the single coolest woman in 1980.

Fab-5 Freddy is the guy in the white suit and top hat. A hip hop pioneer.
This is widely considered the first RAP song. You can see the word “RAP” on the wall.
“Rapture” was released in 1980. “Rapper’s Delight” by The Sugar Hill Gang came out in 1979 and was the first rap song played on the radio. It also broke the Top 40 chart.

The clue what the song is about is the title. Not bad for the 80s with the disco fading away "end-time event" Rapture
Ooh i see
The lyrics weren’t so clear to me however 😄

The only rap song I ever liked. I forgot how great this song was, especially compared to today's stuff that sounds all the same.
did that catch you off guard lol
Did "Rap" come from this song Rapture?
OK. That video was freaky. I think Blondie might also be Eminem.
