      No way man haha! When did Ajahn Brahm teach that Jesus was the son of God and that he died for our sins? When did Brahm get angry at Jews and threw a table at them in rage? When did Brahm teach that the majority of good people will suffering in hell for eternity, and right faith will lead to salvation? Point me to that Dhammatalk man

      God has Manifestated Himselves in Lord Jesus.
      He died for our mistakes at the cross so we can enter heaven if we do accept
      Him as our Saviour.
      Lord Jesus is the Son of God and The only Saviour - you have to believe his Words.
      24Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

      Why because God loves you.
      John 10:9
      Jesus said - I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

      Verily verily I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God The Lord Buddha teaches that this thing you call “self” , doesn’t really exist. There’s no one ... nobody to save. Anyway, One must free himself from being reborn. To do that, the self must be extinguished.

      Colin - Check out this website: www.mercifultruth.com/
      It points out many of the mistranslations found in the Bible and shows the REAL message of Christianity that was taught during Christ's time. I think you'll find it's not as contrary to Buddhism as you might have thought (which isn't even a religion by the way).
      "we trust in the living God, Who is the savior of all men, especially of those that believe." ESPECIALLY those who believe, not only those who believe. But check out the website for yourself

    • @Boccaccio1811
      @Boccaccio1811 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Colin - I'm not denying any of that. But there's a difference between the original version of the Bible which was written in Greek and Hebrew, and the translated versions which have many flaws to the point where some of the basic fundamentals of Christianity are changed. Not to mention, many things in the Bible have been INTENTIONALLY changed and removed by the church throughout history in order to control the masses.
      I believe in Christ's teachings, I just prefer to do the research and find out the truth about him rather than base my beliefs on a misinterpretation of his teachings.

And we definitely don't need your preaching and proselytising (trolling, basically) on videos in which you clearly have no interest and which are not meant for you. You have found a spiritual path or worldview that suits you - excellent; have at it. Kindly extend others that same right and courtesy with whatever paths suit them.

    I think the most powerful line for anyone who struggles with perfectionist tendencies:
    "Trying so hard to be something you're not.". When you put it that way you realize how illogical it is to be something you're not. It's like a circle trying to be a triangle. Just stop it, it's never going to happen! It's not that we can't improve. It's that we shouldn't expect to be perfect. A full acceptance of our faults.

    With regard to "Democracy", I am approaching 70 years of age. I will not be here that much longer. BUT, I do plan to return. :) My vote today will affect my next life. After I die, a baby will be born...

    • @davidc.2878
      @davidc.2878 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      James Sheffer the idea about democracy is highly problematic. what happens when the young decide to vote to cut health care for the old? what happens when someone says the rich deserve more of a share of the vote than the poor? Ajahn Braun is great on meditation and Buddhism and personal life skills, but his ideas about politics aren't any better than his jokes. it just goes to show that no one is wise about everything.

    • @JamesSheffer
      @JamesSheffer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      David C. I totally agree with you that the concept of "democracy" is questionable. In fact, is there a place where it even exists? Has it ever? I've had no experience of such. My point to Ajahn Brahm's statement is that what I do now (e.g. vote) will have an effect on me in my future (i.e. next life). That is not to say that my vote has any force or effect. The "what if"s you cite are very real. They have been with us throughout history. I see it as the Samsara taught by the Buddha. It is to each of us to break that cycle through the meditation and life skills (Metta) you rightly cite. A. Brahm, A. Brahmali and Ajahn Khemavaro are my favorite teachers at present. But that's not a permanent thing, for sure. As for the jokes, I have served most of my lifetime with persons struggling to accept the idea of imminent death. Once achieved, it all seems a joke. And are we not all dying? My insurance is going. My savings are gone. Do I suffer? I honestly appreciate your very sincere response. - James

    I'm at the point in Brahm's talk where he asked us to put up our hands. "Where are you happy?" (I had my right hand up) I pointed to the computer screen while laughing with all the other people in the talk. Of course I was happy all over "me", whatever THAT means. But he was saying something different, I guess. He's probably going to tell me that it's my MIND that's happy. But all is happy - even not-me is happy. I can barely wait to hear what he has to say about this.

      COlin, you just got your own thumb down. Man, I understand you want to preach about Jesus but I also wonder if there are other ways for you to do it without pestering people on youtube comments.

      God has Manifestated Himselves in Lord Jesus.
      Lord Jesus is the Son of God and your only Saviour - you have to believe his Words.
      24Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
      Lord Jesus is the Rock

    I absolutely believe the ATM story, I have always been kind to machines eg Xerox machines - when they wouldn't work for others, but always for me....and countless other machines.

    No “one size fits all!” This Life (path) I’m on is my own ... designed and created specifically for me. No one can walk it for me as much as I’d like someone to. I have to do it. And more often than not, I want to give up and end my Life.
