Thanks DJ for showing us the collection. I was the one who ask to see it because I knew it would be impressive, I have watched you clean-up and restore so many of them. I appreciate you taking the time to do this.
Your favorite Craftsman ratchet with the thumb wheel and fine tooth is like came in my 147 piece set I bought 45 years ago for $300. All three drives, shallow deep well sockets, combination wrenches up to 1", pliers hack saw, classic screwdrivers and various extra pieces. No metric whatsoever, had to add a few over time. My Craftsman I considered professional quality, after much use still look almost new. And I bought it through a catalog showroom store in my town where you had to order it then pay extra shipping & handling when it came in.
Back at that time I was too poor to buy any good quality tools so I latched on to anything I could find, so now I am always looking for older Craftsman tools because the quality is so good!
That's impressive DJ! Nice collection. I can't pass up an American made ratchet for less $5 without bringing it home either. When i did autobody repair in the late 80s early 90s i bought a few things off the truck (all used, never new) and realized really quick that i could get the tools i needed cheaper at flea markets, yard sales, estate sales and pawn shops. I haven't bought very many new tools in my life.
Very nice, DJ! I've had a hard time finding good vintage tools at garage sales and whatnot so far this year. Been getting some I've been really wanting from eBay..even if I get a good price on the tool I still have to pay shipping which sucks. I'm trying to keep that to a minimum. But yea impressive collection! Keep it up! I actually have 2 sets of thorsen ratchets. From 1/4 to 1/2. A set I keep for my vintage collection and a set I use. Them old vintage thorsens are great ratchets!
Nice collection I’m a mechanic myself so I love tools and they make me money also I’m working on my collection not as big as yours but I’m working on it
Always keep looking you never know what you can find, also do not forget to look on FaceBook market place, in my area there has been some really good deals on there!
I totally agree with you on Kolbalt ratchets, complete garbage! I have not found a Kolbalt tool that i like. Gave them away , no more. Thanks for the video
When Kobalt first came out they were pretty good made in USA tools, made by Williams I think. The second generation was a lot lower quality Taiwanese origin, now it seems they are the pretty low quality mostly from China. So if you take your time and look for Kobalt, made in USA you might just find a good one.
Really nice collection my friend enjoyed it I noticed the duro chrome ratchet same company as indestro I have the 2775a indestro version of it they are identical damn good little ratchet thanks for sharing my friend
I whole heartedly agree with you. There is no reason to buy cheap Chinese tools from the likes of Harbor Freight when there are so many good tools out there.
Very nice and yes you are right you can find them they are out there I have found some of what I'm looking for it just takes a little time and it's a lot cheaper I got acomplet set of SK impact sockets and more from doing it like you and it's fun.

I am with you and have a draw full of all three sizes. I have difficulty not buying $1 USA ratchets at estate/garage sales.
Hard to pass up a good deal!

Earlier this year was good for garage sales but now the flea market is better, I think it is because it is so hot!!!!!!!!
I also like collecting different types of ratchets. Usually I find them at pawn shops or an estate sale, not at yard sales.
My flea market is good right now, pawn shop has been kind of slow!
