Thanks for watching! I’m thinking about doing a follow up on the grill and I’d like to do a run time test to see how long it’ll run on a hopper of pellets.
@@kennycab3374 I would think it would be ok on a patio. It does give off some heat obviously you cant touch it with your bare hands but its not extreme heat. I would say the main thing is just make sure its not right against your house or anything flammable. It is definitely a controlled flame. I usually use mine on my concrete and its usually 3-4 feet from my house and I have no concerns about it causing issues.
Thanks for the video. Just put together the one I received as a gift today. Haven’t done the initial burn yet but like you mentioned it seems a bit on the smaller side. Especially the top rack. Not much room between the top of the grill and the rack. The pellets sticking on the side of the hopper will be an issue when using it as a smoker. In smoking you will have it going for hours. May have to get creative to figure out a solution.
Just assembled this ZGrill, already have a large 4 Burner webber propane grill, this will suffice for my smoking needs, will hold several pork butts etc.. tired of using the webber kettle to smoke, loved it, but not tending to it for hours...
I just made chicken leg qtrs and didn't really have any smoke flavor, I think next time I will put on smoke setting for an hour or 2 then put up to temp setting...oh btw it was my first cook using the z grille
How have your experiences been with the smoker so far? What are your likes and dislikes if any? I decided on a pitboss last December and was curious as to how you're enjoying the zgrill.
@@thebalerman I mainly use my smoke setting just to get my pellets ignited then I set it to the desired temp. Pellet smokers aren't going to put out a huge amount of smoke flavor like a stick burner would, I use a smoke tube when doing ribs, pork shoulder etc. That really helps. I want much of a smoker when I bought my first masterbuilt electric smoker but indeed I got the hang of it and actually produced something edible lol my confidence began to increase. I enjoy your content, it's real, unscripted and informational should definitely keep up the good work, want to see you do a few long cooks.
I’m really using it as a grill. It’s a pellet grill and you can smoke with it. Now I’m not gonna say that it’ll smoke like a commercial smoker or anything like that but it does pretty well
Great video my good info, I just got one
Thanks
Thank for this idea. You were thorough and informative. I can’t wait to fire up my z-grill.

Great review. I was thinking because it is an electric smoker, I could use it on my patio, but now that I see flames, its probably not?
I looked it up. I guess its considered a controlled fire so it should be fine, but it recommends making sure your apartment rules allow it.

I have a few squirrels in the freezer, bet they would be good cooked on that. Good video.
Great info...helped make the decision to buy!
Got to love the Z grill
I just got one of these too... gonna put it together tomorrow.
just ordered mine today. Cant wait as well.
Thank you for the video! Just bought the last one today

@@thebalerman It was also running at max temp which will use a lot more pellets. I imagine if you are going low and slow they will last a lot longer.
Only thing I don’t like is how it’s a pain in the ass cleaning pellets back out you didn’t end up using.
Thank you for this great review.

I just bought a 700 series for 250. Also from Rural king. The brisket I smoked for 9 hours was delicious

Was it hard to put together? And did it take long to heat up?
@@tiffaniecasados8934 No it heats up very quick and keeps the temp nice...and assembling the grille was easy, just had to put the legs of the unit on.
@@thebalerman I purchased 2 smoke tubes and put pellets in them and its working out great
I don't like the way the pellets don't slide enough into the auger.

is this a grill or a smoker?
Yes, both

my fan is not on. Says E F 1
@@thebalerman I found the problem. Lowes forgot to hook up the thermometer. And the grill operates off the thermometer. It is working great
is this the 2020 "updated version"?
@@thebalerman Dont think it is. They changed the hopper for the 20 version. So the issue you had where it "ran out of pellets" cant happen now
I bought the same grill about two weeks before Christmas but still haven't found time to assemble it yet. Awesome video.
can u fit 2 briskets ?
How is it for straight grilling?
Does this smoker come with meat probes/thermometers?
Uh, you wanna open the garage door so you don’t pass out from CO?
Does this one have an opening for a temp probe to be used, or is it just run the cable out through the lid?
@@thebalerman Yes a meat probe. I know about the built in probe. I have looked at other models that had a hole for a meat probe. Thanks for the reply.
