Walking around the beautiful area of Poblacion in Makati (a suburb of Manila) we asked some very photogenic people where we could find an assortment of local fresh fruits to try!

Living here now in the US, and yes, American mangoes (usually exported from Mexico) can't really compare to Philippine mangoes. It is slightly tougher and not as juicy, not as sweet and blander flavor than Philippine mangoes. For other Philippines fruit recommendation, try caimito, atis, lanzones, chico, and guyabano. As general rule for eating fruits, remove seeds or spit it out, and don't chew it, especially for lanzones, it has bitter seeds. Also, before guacamole got introduced or became popular in the Philippines, we usually used avocados as a dessert-drink first in the Philippines. You should try Avocado milkshake, it is just blended ice, milk, sugar and avocado.

Philippine fruits that are supposed to be sweet are sweeter than fruits from other places because Philippine soil is very fertile, there’s something special in Philippine soil.
Someone suggested trying other Philippine fruits, the Caimito fruit that you can buy at the market is usually not sweet because they pick it before it is really ripe. The Caimito fruit that we have in our yard is very sweet, neighbors always ask for some of our Caimito and always say that our Caimito is the sweetest and even bring some friends to taste our Caimito. 😊

I love the fruit Guyabano. My Grandmom had it in her Garden in the Masbate Province . Perhaps you should visit it, Kurt. We are famous for being the Rodeo Capital of the Philippines, where there are Rodeo competitions held anually. The first time I ate Guyabano, it exploded in my mouth as a kid, and since then it belongs to my favorite fruits. Sadly here in Germany where I live now , the choises of exothic fruits and food are very limited. Also the choices of Filipino ingridiences and especially also fish. And even Asian stores don't have everything. Here in Germany it feels almost like the old times Frontiers in the US, where you have to wait for supplies and hope they brought what you are looking for. Everything else is more or less improvisation. That's the situation here in Germany about Filipino items.
Come and go visit the beautiful Masbate Island. You will like it. Stay safe and God bless, Kuya Kurt. ❤

@TagalogKurt Guyabano is off-season now. Off-season fruits would be 2x more expensive and would not be as good in season. The orange and apples are most-likely imported as they don't grow well here in the Philippines. BUT, we do have our own local citrus like Dalanghita (or Dalandan). I sell fruits, I can give you a list of local fruits to try, and where you can buy them. Plus I can include in the list the different bananas to try, or different kinds of the other fruits.

Apples and mandarin oranges are imported fruits. The local fruits taste better than imported ones as they are fresher. In my opinion we have one of the best mangoes, pineapple and bananas in the world. Filipinos do not really eat cavendish bananas, they are for export and really majority of Pinoys does not eat them unless they are not in the Philippines as they cannot get latundan and lakatan abroad. Try local fruits intead like you said guyabano, chico, siniguelas, duhat, langka, marang, mangosteen, dragon fruits and maybe durian. Try our pineapple they are one of the sweetest in the world. After all two American Plantations are there in the Philippines, Dole and Del Monte. Try the Dole pineapple juice in cans, the natural and unsweetened one if you can find them. That is what i buy here in North America. Thanks for the video. I have been watching you having fun there.
