Something that's important to me is to take inventory of things and be like "is this making me feel good?" And that often means getting rid of clothes that I actually DON'T like anymore, or getting rid of hair accessories I don't wear or whatever. If it doesn't make me feel good, it's getting in the way of stuff I actually like.

I love the 3rd one best, partly because it gives very early T-Swift vibes, but mostly because you were so happy with it! I'd love to see another attempt at the 2nd one. Also, I think this is the first hair makeover video I've ever seen that didn't involve cutting or dyeing!! Thanks for the revelation that we don't have to actually change our hair to change our style.

I loved the chat you had with the first hair style. I have wavy boarder line curly hair but I grew up in the 90s/early 2000s so everyone had their hair stick straight. Anytime I wore my natural hair people would make comments about me not fixing my hair so I got self conscious about my natural hair which is so sad! I’m 30 now so I’ve learned to embrace it and my daughter has even curlier hair than me and I’m doing my best to teach her to love her texture and take care of it!

      @kikipaisley 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Same here!!Family and friends would always comment if I didnt blowdry it straight, almost in a harassing way at times. The nineties were so particular about styles that were accepted as attractive-freckles were considered disgusting back then for some reason, and now they're considered pretty.(i have them,my friend always said they were "angel kisses"

YES. I spent so much of my teenage years trying to achieve "the Rachel" on my 3A/3B hair. By my junior year, I got (literally) tired of waking up at 4:30 AM to straighten it and slowly started wearing my natural texture more. My straightener sees action once every 2-3 years now.

Me too. I was told by my boss to straighten my hair because I didn't look polished with my curly hair. I now wear my curls with pride.

I really appreciate the timing of this video on a personal level. I'm currently in a hair rut and have essentially given up on it. I throw it up in a claw clip when I get out of the shower and just let it dry and usually toss it in a pony or bun in the morning. I can't say I'm coming out of my rut because of this video but it does make me want to try.

Straight or curly, you look beautiful with both styles! 🤗 As someone with naturally super curly hair, THANK YOU for including the last curly hair style. I feel like a lot of TH-camrs show curly hair tutorials, and they always run their fingers though their hair so much, that it just becomes a wave. Yes it looks beautiful, but us with super curly hair feel left out. So thank you! 👍🏼

The first one gives me some subtle Rachel Green vibes and I love it😍
Also, when I feel super down about myself, I retract into my room, play my favorite music, and scroll through anything and everything that has to do with my fandoms😂 sounds ridiculous, but it makes me so happy. Honestly just seeing/interacting with people who get excited about the same things of you, and make your craziness feel less crazy is the best thing!

Your videos have always been a sort of security and a source of happiness for me. I felt quite isolated and lost when I was a teenager and when I discovered your channel it sort of flipped a switch for me and I found the first element of confidence within myself. You helped me find joy in going to school and helped me find friends. Thank you for sharing your journey with us I’ve loved watching you grow and I guess being able to grow along with you. ❤️

It kind of cracks me up that you didn't think viewers would be interested in this content but this is absolutely what I go to TH-cam hair videos for! I'm too lazy, scared of commitment, cheap, etc. to usually want to get my hair cut or colored. I come to TH-cam looking for different ways to style my same hair when I'm feeling bored with it or in a rut. Best video idea ever, in my opinion! 😄

The giving it time to get used to it really is a great advice. I've gotten curtain bangs a month ago and it felt so wrong at first, but now that I had time with them, I feel like myself again when I look in the mirror.

I really love this more chatty style of video!!! I will say, I’d love to see you tape this over a longer period of time so you can see how you feel about the hairstyle after wearing for a bit, like a day?? And you could talk about how it wore/changed over time, too! I feel like for me, sometimes I need time so look at myself and see how I feel about a hairstyle over time before I decide what I like best for styling

I love this video! I have been feeling the same and actually just cut my hair really short and got highlights for this first time to switch things up (and make it impossible for me to continue wearing my hair in a bun all the time). I love all three of these looks. I never used to be able to curl my hair and had given up but then found your videos. They have been so helpful!

And that's why I spent a summer in jr high on probation for shoplifting makeup - if i just had enough of the right 'things' I would fit in. Now the only makeup I can literally stomach owning is a cover-up, a blush, a powder and lipsticks - lipsticks are only one I let myself have more than one. Ironically of course once I got comfortable in my own skin after sobering up, years of shame-work thrrapy and getting accurate mental health disorder and meds I hardly ever apply any and I'm okay with that! I just love that you throw out these nuggets as if they're no big deal - they are of course - but being able to express them freely helps everyone struggling feel not so alone!

Kayley, when I was young and felt like I was missing something that all the other girls seemed to just know how to do, you were the person that helped me explore what I liked to do with my hair and makeup. My mom didn’t really wear anything more than mascara and had a long pixie cut, so couldn’t teach me much more than what she did everyday. As a teenager 13-16, I didn’t wear any makeup and my hair was always in a ponytail because I didn’t know how to do my hair any other way. I would look the other girls and vacillate between being the alternative girl who didn’t conform to beauty standards to the insecure, bare-faced teenager who hid her acne with blunt straight-across bangs. But I got so stuck and bored of my ponytail and bangs that I started searching for tutorials to learn how to reinvent my look and I found you, back in the green-sheet days. Thank you for helping me learn the skills to play and love my hair, and even though I haven’t gone out of my comfort zone in a long time, I know that I can always turn to your channel for the inspiration I need xx

My hair rut was frustration with curls, so I ignored it for 5 years beyond basic care and ended up with hair down past my waist; so now I play with different buns. It’s a little amazing what you can do with hair once it gets past hip length.
I kinda dig the third style, mainly because it reminds me of old-school Taylor Swift, and I live for curls like that going mainstream famous. Not enough natural curls welcomed in the world, and they can look so good.

I needed this video! I wear it in a pony tail every damn day and if I am feeling frisky I put in heatless waves. I went from having hair AL length to your your length. To our sunny, sassy, sweet Kayley Melissa from another bisexual woman who didn't figure that out for 26 years: I totally understand the feeling you have about wearing your hair naturally straight because of the trauma there, so bravo for tackling that!!! I can really identify with that. I straightened my natural curls so often during my darkest period of mental health struggles, and I haven't been able to wear it that way in ten years because of it. Hair is so much more than just hair. It is a reflection of who we are, and I love that you feel that way, too--so many people laugh at me for caring so much about my hair, but it really is much deeper than face value. Anyway... So much love for you, Kayley.

I never knew how to deal with them and all my friends had straight hair growing up, so I straightened it like, 2-3 times A DAY in high school. I absolutely killed it. I remember when I was young, I didn’t know how to style my hair so I went to the hairdresser and cut it. Until one day, I found your videos. Girl I remember trying some styles and loving it. And that’s how I got stuck with you 😂 and I don’t regret it. Because you helped me change my hairstyle everyday and I’m grateful ! I also love Emma Watson. She’s my go to for everything : hair style, clothes, and so much more. She’s always been my inspiration and she’s my favorite actress. I remember when she cut her hair, I wanted to have the same. And I did it. 😂 now I want them at my waist because I’ve never had it before. And I want to see how it will look with me. Right now they’re past my chest (finally) 😂
But it feels good to change your style. Every two to three month I clear my closet out. Throw away clothes I haven’t wear in the last 3 months. And it feels so good.
I love all the hairstyle. They’re beautiful, and can be used as an everyday look or for some special event. It just feels good to change. 🥰

Please do a video on hair brushes. I highly doubt the Walmart cheap brush I use is good for my hair but there’s so many out there that it’s overwhelming. Loved look #3!! 😍😍😍

I don't know if you already know this but she actually did a brush video a few months back. She covered everything :)

I totally feel you about the leaving your hair straight feels like you didn't "try"
Also 3 is my favorite especially with the side part omg🥰 but of course I loved all of them. The 2nd hair style I think would've been cool to see you just flip out your ends more so, hit each layer with a big curling iron, would be a really cute look!😁😁

Before you completely brushed out that last one??? Marykate & Ashley in So Little Time vibes. I loved it!
(Also I don't cut or color my hair for religious reasons so I really freakin love that someone else has embraced the 'I want to change but don't wanna cut/color' thing because it's nice to see 🤷🏼‍♀️)
