    Living as an introvert in an extroverted world can be very overwhelming and lonely sometimes... but videos like this help us to feel like we aren't so alone so thanks for this Lana.
    I agree that the introvert vs. extrovert scale isn't so black and white. Most people have characteristics of both introverts and extroverts.
    I myself enjoy going out to concerts and bars here and there but I definitely need my time to recharge alone afterwards...and yes I too sometimes prefer staying in and talking to my plants as well ;).

  • @OnlineLifeGuide

    I think most people really underestimate the power of introverts. People don't realize that so many of the great people in the history of humanity were essentially introverts. History is full of introverted prophets, philosophers, writers, poets, scientists, artists, and revolutionaries since introversion often allows deep reflective thinking, creativity, the flow of ideas, and the ability to ponder and wonder.
    Often introverts, in their silence, see what many fail to see.
    We must learn to embrace introversion. Maybe some introvert sitting right among us would be the next revolutionary. Who knows!?
    Edit: Not trying to take anything away from extroverts. It's Not introverted vs extroverted. The only intention of this comment is to highlight the hidden potentials so many introverts have, and that introverts must confidently embrace their introversion instead of feeling any kind of inferiority.

    • @karstdeviz3858
      @karstdeviz3858 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Don't think that extroverted people can't do these things though. A friend of mine who I respect a lot is quite extroverted, but i have deep conversations with him all the time.

      I don't like this kind of self-praisings. There's a lot of extroverts in history too... Extraversion has its great advantages that amaze me :)

    • @OnlineLifeGuide
      @OnlineLifeGuide 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@karstdeviz3858 I totally agree. I never said anything against extroverts. It's Not introverts vs extroverts. I was just emphasizing the important role introverts can also play in society and have been throughout history along with many extroverts.
      In today's age, charisma and being a "people's person" or being "outgoing" is most rewarded and seen as a sign of an accomplished or confident person, while introversion is almost considered as a weakness or disadvantage, even though so many introverts also have great hidden potentials that never surface due to inferiority complex.
      The point being, each of us must learn to embrace ourselves, whether intro or extroverted, instead of comparing ourselves unfairly and feeling left out or lesser than someone.
      I like to consider myself as an ambivert. So I'm talking from neutral grounds :)

    • @OnlineLifeGuide
      @OnlineLifeGuide 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@let_it_sin_kin You are absolutely right. I didn't intend to demean extroverts at all. Being an introvert has come with a lot of shame for me personally. I think that so much credit is given to extroverts (especially in American public school), while a lot of introverts are seen as boring and even weird. What I’ve discovered recently is that introverts hold so much power-in how we listen, understand, and follow our own moral compass. We can tap into our power once we realize the gifts of introversion and take action on them, instead of judging ourselves over what we “lack.” Thank you for this video Lana!

Lots of people agree to go out with friends, or feel that their busy social schedules are normal and what they *should* be doing, since it seems like that's what everyone else is doing. Maybe you just got a chance to learn more about yourself and realize you don't need all that. I wasn't introverted my entire life either. I had my daughter and started spending more time at home and realized over time I'd *much* rather be at home; reading, teaching myself to cook a new dish, or just listen to music and work on a puzzle. Rohit Chaudhary it’s a very subjective statement. I’m an introvert so I can agree but an extrovert for example would say that extroverts are the best people. Neither statement is right or wrong.

      Rohit Chaudhary Because introverts find very unique ways to fix problems. We’re the type of people who, if we don’t like your energy, we don’t even talk to you. We like to stay gone ; read a book, and fix up our house instead of going outside and talking to meaningless , pointless people . We’re the type of people who like quiet environments

    I can sit in my backyard alone on a nice day for hours, not doing anything but enjoying whatever nature has to show me in the moment, birds, dragonflies, ants, clouds, moon, ect.
    I recently broke up with someone who I was with for 6 years who never appreciated this about me, and I felt very misunderstood and even devalued as a person for this.
    I feel a lot of compassion for those who are introverts and suffer this feeling of loneliness while being around others who don't allow them to enjoy being who they are.

    I'm ambivert
    I love volunteering
    I can talk with strangers
    I can have new friends( I don't want to)
    I'm a member in actif club and love trying new things
    But I love being alone to think to read or do absolutely nothing. And sometimes I just make excuses to leave a group of people and now I'm distancing myself even in social media lol.
    Im not so comfortable with the fact that I can't be one of the two. But I'm glad that I can understand and feel both of introverts and extroverts that's why I don't juge them.
    So please don't juge extroverts because they also get tired of others and some of them run away from themselves and from thoughts and can't handle being alone.
    And don't juge introverts because they don't feel like they are what they are when they are with ppl.
    Thank you.

    So refreshing to see positivity around the "introverts" topic. I agree completly with the labels, even though we can feel related towards one end of the spectrum, we shouldn't let that define us. I also posted a video about introverts and I am so happy to see that we have a similar perspective.

    I have come across cold behaviour from my colleagues off late because I don't exhibit the common small talk time and again ... therefore I come accross as a snob and while others make the effort they climb the good ladder whilst I am being misunderstood . Of course, some traits have carried through most of my life, but I used to become anxious if I couldn't precisely define my personality. Now, however, I know that change is a part of being human. I use to find it difficult to interact with others in social gatherings, even though some were good friends, interacting was difficult, until a good friend noticed I was usually quiet and came over to start a conversation, when others saw this, they also stated coming over to me and I felt comfortable telling them what I go through. Now I still have difficulties interacting with new people, but with help from friends I am slowly finding myself.

    Sometimes my reason behind not going out,/needing to go home is that I want to spend time alone. That's the only reason literally. I just wanna spend some self-time and enjoy solitude.
    And honestly I struggled most of my life until I realized this. I couldn't understand why I wanna do spend time alone now or why I can't go out although I love this person/group. It's only when I realized the true reason behind that I've become more accepting the fact &, most importantly, accepting myself as it is, which helped me feel more at ease.

I drifted towards few of them I felt most comfortable having small talk with and never bothered with the majority. I'm usually very anxious (stuttering, rapid blinking) when socializing. And I wondered if I have social anxiety but I doubt it.

    That was super helpful... I know I'm more on the introvert side but I ended up limiting myself by thinking that "oh well, I'm an introvert, so if I go to that party I'll just make everyone uncomfortable by not doing all that stuff everybody expects me to do, plus there will be people who I don't know, so it's a no-no" when I should just stop and really try to understand how I feel about this situation. I also tell my friends I'm introverted too much, they end up having their assumptions about me and hesitate to ask me to come hang out with them, cause they're afraid to make me unconfortable when in reality I would really love to spend time with (most of) them.

  • @toryche1310

    I agree, introvert and extrovert are just labels that we choose to identify ourselves with... and it’s fine as long as they do not limit us. There are aspects of introversion we enjoy and there are those we’d rather like to change. I’ve always enjoyed my calmness, ability to listen and think deeply, but I was always afraid to speak up and felt very uncomfortable around new people. Moving to new cities and countries helped me overcome that fear and reveal new sides of myself and even though I’m still shy sometimes, it doesn’t bother me anymore.

    Being an introvert is not a bad thing that’s how I describe my older brother. A couple years ago I used to talk to him about why he doesn’t hang out with my brothers or make any new friends and hang out with them. I have always thought he was boring because he never wants to hang out with me (go to fun places) but then I thought there was nothing wrong with him being alone. At that time I was feeling lonely and sad. He always enjoys his own company and I’ve always liked that about him.

    Lana, I cant express how much you calm me down by talking about issues most people never think about. Not only is it what you say, the content is spot on and told in a way one can easily follow your thoughts, but the way you say it : calming, comforting, soothing and in some way seductive making me listen more and more being all ears. Women like you are so rare theese days and its painful to know this, yet knowing you exist kinda gives me hope there are more out there just like you.
    "There is more to people than meets the eye" (Optimus Prime), but people's thought process and way of thinking will never give them the chance to see that.

    I used to be an introvert. I identify as an ambivert socially, as I’m not shy about talking to strangers like I was when I was younger, and I like being out, but I’m also fine with being a hermit. If a friend or two came over once or twice a month for like 5 hours, it would be a nice refresh from the mundane work to home schedule, and cabin fever. Ideally, I’d like to socialize at least every other weekend. I guess I’m still more on the introverted side tho, since I like mentally preparing myself to go out, and can get overwhelmed if last minute plans are made, and I’m pressured to tag along.

    That's a perfect summary of the reality and misconceptions of introverts - thank you. To add one thing: introverts are generally highly mentally stimulated and that's why we are content to be in our own company for long periods of time. We don't need constant superficial socializing or large gatherings to supply extra stimulation. We are usually at our limit already!

    That last point was really interesting for me since I've been going through some sort identity crisis recently (sounds more dramatic than it actually is lol). I've moved out of my parents' house a few months back and I've been living with two of my good mates ever since. I always thought of myself as an introvert but now every time both of my roommates are out for whatever reason I just feel super bored and lonely even.
