remember this clearly, glued to this whirlwind of vagabond and nicotine on the TV. The end titles started during In the Neighborhood and cut off mid song. The next week Jools said they had unprecedented letters of complaint and they showed the complete song as well as Walking Spanish, which that moment and for ever since is still my favourite song of Tom's. Changed my life those 2 Fridays.
Gotta love, the one and only Tom Waits. The man is brilliant

I first heard your music from your Austin City Limits and have to say that your Blue Valentines touched my soul. One of the few albums that I love the entire album. You are a National Treasure. I haven't led an All American life and some of your lyrics resonate with me because of that life. How do you create such spot-on lyrics describing these experiences? A life-changing concert for me from this tour on 11/23/85 in Beverly Hills. It rearranged the furniture in my head about what a concert could or should be.
I played “hoist that rag” on the juke box at a sports bar the other day and everyone was hating on it. 😢
My favourite song of all time, I adore both versions. And yup it stings when barely anyone else I know gets it. Glad you and I do though, my friend!
