I love the fantastic results you get using simple tools like grinders and sandpaper. There are a lot of knifemakers out there with wonderful results, however they usually have all the fancy machines and the like. Your blade intuition, design and masterful skill using what I would consider to be pretty basic and fundamental tools is an absolute pleaser to witness!
Enjoyed watching this project ☺️. Nice curve of the blade and yes the combination of brass and wood with glossy finish added to the beauty of the handle of the knife 🔪. Keep it up. Like the way you dress in camouflage military uniform.
Looking at the sparks when grinding it is my best guess that the hook was made of 1045 steel. It will have poor durability and edge retention as a knife. Even mild steel can be sharpened to an "unrealistic" edge but it will damage and lose its edge quickly.

Arnd $15-$30? abt the new crisis alot of cruiseships broken away, if the entire metal use for making knife and try sell is it worth it? A knife for fighting or throwing(small)(a kind that lands nicely not at handle) or cut fruits(maybe this promote self-healthrecovery for vitamins)? I assume they will leave the metal there maybe? Weird smthg so expensive can be broken like nothing and more than 2 if that is alot. Issit rly mr.lau/tan that reads this?

So the steel in the hook is in the low to medium low level of carbon, anything can be sharp, what does it take to retain the edge. Carbon. It’s. A shame the skills were not put to use on a steel that actually will hold an edge. Lipstick on pigs is a waste of lipstick.

Абсолютно с вами согласен.Крюки делаются из стали 35.Закалить этот материал невозможно даже в воде,а нам чудо показывают закаляя в масле.Другое дело,у мужика на заднем плане видны пилы Геллера,вот тот материал действительно пригоден для ножей ( сам делал).А так, это чистая разводяга для дилетантов.Вот это у него получилось.
