This decade was tough. No fiddler on the roof? No the Muppet movie? Saturday night fever? Godspell? Jesus Christ superstar?
j.c.superstar was wretched and you know it!
Good list! I think Jesus Christ Superstar should be in there over Rocky Horror . Better music…
I respect that opinion even if I disagree with it.
Was that "all that jazz"? Or "A Chorus Line"? Now I'll have to go re-watch both...
looks quite similar from the clip indeed.
Cabaret of course should have been number one. Despite its popularity, I always thought Grease was kind of awful, at least until the final number, which is fun.
Yes, especially compared to the stage production. Really, a disco/pop title song in a movie set in the 50s?
What about the precursor to MTV. "Tommy , the Movie". ? Come on, Jack Nicholson singing, Elton of 4 foot doc Martins, Tina Turner morphing into an Iron Maiden and chocolate covered Ann Margret. ?
You should do top 10s. I would've included "Jesus Christ Superstar" and maybe "Phantom of the Paradise" as an honorable mention.
The Wiz (1978)
Chorus line?
Made in the 1980s
@@lizzieallen2284 oops. thanx 4 the clarification.
If Rocky Horror is not on this list I will Riot!!!!
Well take a look and you’ll see haha.
FilmSnobReviews There will be no rioting today
WHAT! No Lost Horizon!?
No Jesus Christ Superstar?
Whaaaaat? Willy Wonka? Really? It is a great children’s movie but the best musical of the 70s? WTF???!!! And you didn’t even mention Hair!
You’re right I did not mention 1979’s Hair. Two reasons. I don’t particularly care for it and two it’s my list. I think that Wonka is far more then just “a great children’s movie” as you’ve so eloquently put it.
@@FilmSnobReviews Hair IS overrated, and sadly today would suffer under "cancel culture".
@@pjangels609 story? yes, overrated. but the music is gr8! Far better than j.c.superstar!
Yes, you are correct. I hadn't watched it since a mere teen, and many of the songs would be axed. "White boys are pretty..."lol
