Yep, I once upon a time turned $7000 worth of visa gift cards into cash with this method. Minus all fees. I love this method

This is also how you liquidate credit cards. You buy the gift card with the credit card, then deposit the money order into your bank. You’re welcome!

Gift cards are pretty dump. Just give people cash instead. You avoid paying fees, and you also avoid throwing away plastic into the landfill.

@@flacortw you need to buy them to activate them, the only way for them to be activated is if someone purchases one, and it goes through as successful, otherwise it will be useless.

Don't tell the cashier just act like you're paying with your debit and run it as debit set up a pin it works for me all the time

Someone paid 4.95 purchase fee and you paid .88 money order fee y’all just lost 5.83 and cost a trip to Walmart. 😆 just give cash people.

And this is why people should just give cash cuz think about all of the headaches that it requires to do all of this and then it cost them $6 to buy the gift card. For $50. Then it cost you $0.88 to $3 to be able to get cash from it. Plus now that it cost $5 a gallon for gas you're probably spending at least $5 in gas getting to the Walmart. So it costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $70 for you to have 48.

Just did this at a Publix. Worked like a charm. I selected debit and used the last 4 digits as the pin.

@@gurl1128the pin. When you use those prepaid cards you need to set a PIN code. You can do it by calling the number on the back or just putting one in the first time you use it

If you have a Walmart credit card, you can make a pymt to your credit card in store as well with these gift cards.

As of AUG 2023, this did not work at Walmart. It did work at USPS however.
As of SEPT. 2023 @walmart it worked for Me 🤷🏾♀️💯

Works only with the pin. Call the number on the back. Go through all the options after verifying the balance. You will get the option for the pin.

I just tried it at Walmart and I didn’t tell them I was using a Visa gift card put my pin number in and it was declined for $100. So what I ended up doing was my daughters father has a store he’s been in business for 17 years I just take my cards and I swipe them on the credit card machine and just have him give me the cash.

I’m on disability and can’t get a 9 to 5 job so my local food pantry told me that I can volunteer and they would pay me in gift cards that they get from the other volunteers who donate. I hope this actually works because then I would be able to go to Walmart and get a little bit of cash in my pocket.

Yeah because that’s the way scammers scam. Load gift cards up to the max with cash and then get a money order for it

Just buy a store gift card for a store you know you'll be going to. Or a gas station gift card. You dont have to worry about being over or under because you can hold it for next time and pay the overage with another payment. You also dont have to worry about the fees in case you hold the Visa gift card for too long.
Terrible advice tbh. Not only are there issues with scammers getting access to cards before you load them up, but the place you buy a card from might not activate the card properly and then keep the money, or the gas station you buy a card for might require you to do prepaid and not allow you to pay after pumping with them.
@creativityfails1 I have never had those issues. Whenever I get one of these from work, I use it towards my most common used expenses so I'll end up going through it quickly. That way you're not sitting on it long to allow for some of that stuff to happen.
Sure it's possible for the things you're saying, but it's also possible for someone to skim the Visa card info or the walmart employee to enforce the rule that you can't use Visa gift cards for money orders.

How exactly did you find the Visa gift card difficult to use, though, when it's accepted everywhere?
It’s not always accepted everywhere. I get them to pay my home insurance while not paying my credit cards at the moment (can’t rn) and out of nowhere now it won’t allow me to do it o line OR by phone. And don’t expect customer service. There’s no freaking options to speak to a human. And to report a problem, there’s only 2-3 problems to choose from. If you don’t have any of those select o es, there’s no “other” option. The ones scamming are VISA itself!!

I’m not sure what didn’t work for you, but someone mentioned that you may need to run it through as a debit & the last 4 digits of the card are your pin. Hope that works!

Ebay are no longer accepting Vanilla Gift cards only Amazon and Walmart but for how long? For safety vanilla should allow us to register the card to our name and address so that when buying something online is acceptable.

Hi Jake! It has been a while since I did this but I believe I charged it as credit, not debit. Some readers might automatically run it as debit, but you usually just have to either push a "credit" button or the red "cancel" button. The cashier should be able to point you in the right direction to make it run as a credit.

Your pin is the last 4 digits of your prepaid card you welcome
Sometimes you have to call the number on the card to establish a pin. You make one then you can use the card with no issues.

You don't buy them for yourself. Someone gives it to you as a gift but you decide you would like the cash instead. Maybe you're going somewhere that don't take gift cards like a casino or the weed spot.

You have to call the number on the back of the card create and register a PIN number

You could upload it to your PayPal account and send the money to someone who will give it to back to you.
