  • Today I'm going to present to you 7 plugins that are must have for the year 2023. I'll also give you alternatives, cause sometimes it's not just about a particular plugin, but about a type of the plugin. These are the plugins that I use in almost all projects and I can't imagine producing without them in the year 2023.

      Yeah, it sounded like a professionally recorded sample of an actual opera singer that's already been EQ'd and reverbed appropriately. Not the kind of the thing that needs "fixing" with Soothe. Soothe is better for improving poorly recorded/EQ'd sounds that have harsh resonances.

    Good list. I'd like to also point out a good alternative to Infiltrator is CableGuys Shaper Box 3. They continuously make it better, recently adding in external sidechaining for all of their effects, so if you want any sound in your song to trigger an FX on itself, or something else, CableGuys Shaper Box 3 makes it pretty easy. NoiseShaper is a nice one to add texture to anything, be it a little crunch on a snare or something textural to a synth.

    I subscribe to Komplete Now because I cant afford the full package, but it's reasonably priced and it's been a gamechanger for me. It happens to contain many of the instruments I would be naturally drawn to if I had a full komplete package. Feels like it was curated to suit my taste specifically. It's wonderful.

    Great video but I would also add Melda Plugins to the list! They are absolute game changers and have a lot of niche tools for you to do just about anything!
    Melda Plugins I've found useful for Dubstep/Tearout and overall sound design
    MwaveshaperMB - Add saturation, distortion, high end to your synth and sound design. Basically gives you fine detail control over enhancing your waveforms.
    Mbassador - Add deep sub frequencies or low mid to mid Bass frequencies to any sound to fill out your low end when sound designing!
    MMultiAnalyzer - Let's you look at all the frequencies of your track and see find depth how they are clashing/sitting together.
    ^There are a ton more these are just a few that have been super helpful for me!

  • @SimplCup
    @SimplCup ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have basically used same plugins over and over again. Serum is my favourite one. It basically has everything you might need for sound design and it's really simple to learn. I disagree with you on telling that serum is limited, it might not have 20 OSC and 100 filters, but it has just enough stuff to make incredible sounds. Multiband compressors like OTT should be basically in any plug-in list. Neoverb is a wonderful reeverb with many possibilities and options to create different reeverb effects. Crystalizer is an unusual way to use delay on a sound. Decapitator is pretty lit.

    • @Oversampled
      @Oversampled  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah Serum is very powerful and you can make insane sounds in it. The thing is that making higher level complexity sounds is impossible on it due to mostly lack of more than 10 effects. It doesn't make it weak or useless, but there's a limit to what you can make in it

  • @AndreasR86
    @AndreasR86 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    On the topic of a workhorse synth, I recently got Parawave Rapid which for me has a fantastic sound and workflow. Unlike Serum, Pigments or Vital it has all controls including effects on one screen, but it's still easy to navigate. Phaseplant was my main before, and I still use it because there's a few things that Rapid can't do, but for most things Rapid has a faster workflow, and I slightly prefer the general sound of it as well.

    On the basis of sound alone (rather than cost / familiarity) does anyone have a strong preference between serum or vital?

    • @AutPen38
      @AutPen38 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They essentially make the same sounds. There are other reasons for choosing one over the other though. e.g. Suppose you want to buy a particular preset pack and it's only available for Serum.
      If you're new to synthesis and aren't rolling in money, Vital could definitely be your weapon of choice. The people that say things like "Serum sounds better than Vital" are basically morons. They are both digital wavetable synths that convert ones and zeroes into waveforms. It's like saying "Macs sound better than PCs", which is ridiculous, obviously, since they are just different tools for making the same things.

    • @benjaminalfred4383
      @benjaminalfred4383 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SWEbear021 Guess it's just a taste thing. I tried Pigments, Massive X, Phase Plant & Vital side-by-side over a week and thought that Pigments was the least interesting to my ear. Massive X and Vital were the most interesting. I also thought their interfaces were way faster and more inspiring to work with, but people seem to love pigments for that ...

    • @benjaminalfred4383
      @benjaminalfred4383 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AutPen38 Yeah I totally get what you're saying, I was just wondering if anyone had tried both and had a strong preference based on sound. I mean they're similar in some respects but the filters / unison / osc are a bit different and the effects, etc are programmed differently, by different people.
      But yes, it's the player not the instrument.

    • @SimplCup
      @SimplCup ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@benjaminalfred4383 They are pretty similar, but serum comes with better basic wavetables and presets compared to vital in my opinion. So you will have to either make your own wavetables or buy them for vital.

    • @Jason75913
      @Jason75913 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benjaminalfred4383 Autpen38's simplification is a little silly, both synths are coded differently and as you design the same sounds on each, you'll hear a difference with each one. It will be subtle, mind you, but the difference will cause some folks to prefer the sound of one over the other. Most subtractive synths in general sound somewhat samey, but because they are built and/or coded so differently, they all differ from each other in sound and even what they do best.
      I love Massive, Massive X, FM8, and Dune3 in sound over Serum & Vital, and they can do what I need them to, so I just don't touch Serum & Vital. If it wasn't for NI and Dune3, I'd probably be a Serum user or something, I don't know.

    @Oversampled Heya Peter, im not sure if you will see this, but i just want to let you know that:
    Venn Audio (V-Clip) has an own Discord now and also shares a Free Plugin Suite (currently in Beta),
    i send him your Video here with the Best Plugins and got this message back from the Developer:
    JHVenn -
    "we actually got a spike in sales last couple months and was wondering why, prob from that vid, so big thanks to that Oversampled guy"
    have a nice day.

      Those are must have plugins in my opinion for any producer even though they are not the newest, they don't have to be as they're still very useful
