If you give each segment a twist until it “pops” the vine acts more like rope while still green, makes it easy to work with.

Here to use vines from Roger's Red native hybrid, a wild type hybridized from wine grapes. Small red grape, tiny seeds, makes the best jelly I've tasted.
Thanks so much for the instruction, I'm going to try this!

My great grandma planted grapes in my yard, which still grow today. I want to make a basket, a wreath, and some jelly😊

I have only known reeds and willow used here in the UK as weaving material, but when you think about it, using vines makes real sense. I have 3 grape vines, a bit young yet, but in time they will need pruning in order to control their advance along the perimeter fences. I would certainly cut those prunings to suit having seen this. I would try and make a support obelisk as well for some of my fruit plants - I've got to get competent first though! Thanks for a great idea! That basket looked great. Take care, Vox.

A woven obelisk would be lovely in a garden.

I will have to do another video on this. I need a smaller basket for something anyhow, and this is a good time of year to start to collect grapevines.

Baskets and real brooms were sold to people with money in the old days. Looks good. I guess soaked split ash will be the next video. We won't be getting Easter baskets from China next year. Might want to save this years to put eggs in when you walk to the market.
