  • How to string trim a lawn with a weed eater. This is how I weed eat our lawns for our lawn care business. I start in the front right corner and try to finish in the front right corner. I remove the trimmer guard from our weed eaters and also run the ECHO PAS system as my primary weedeater. I do this so I can also switch the weed eater attachment out for a hedge trimming attachment when I need to do a hedge trimming jobs.
    www.turfprosacademy.com is a mirror image of the business model Jonathan used to build Florida Turf Pros. If you're looking to start your own lawn care business, or if you feel like your lawn care business should be more profitable than what it is, this is the course for you.
    My 3 Favorite Lawn Care Tools:

    My Story:
    In 2016 I had been in law enforcement for almost 7 years.
    I was not in control of my schedule, I was hardly making any money, and I was away from my family working nights and holidays. I was capable of more,, and I was silently suffering. I knew I was selling myself and my family short.
    I started Florida Turf Pros as a side hustle in 2016 before going full time in 2017.
    My lawn business changed my life. I control my own schedule, my own income, and I am proud of what I have built.
    On this channel you will learn the steps I have taken (and am still taking) to have a lawn care business that serves ME and my family’s needs.
    We are a small owner operated company (2 full time mowing trucks/crews, and now a sod installation division).
    If you are interested in starting a lawn care business this channel will provide the direction.
    This really is a great industry to be in…
    And I hope that by documenting my journey it will help you too.

    Oh this vid is perfect for me lol My first season, I was taking about a hour+ on residential yards most the time was spent trimming because I was trying to have it 100% perfect. Not that it's a bad thing but still lol

    Crazy difference from using a Stihl to watching you use a eco, seems so much easier and more controllable, keep crushing it my friend

    Great content. Difference for me is that I go the opposite direction with the thought that the counterclockwise spinning head throws grass and debris away from beds and hard surfaces. Not right or wrong, just how I learned.

      That's probably the correct way, however, it is uncomfortable for me to weed eat that way... I feel awkward holding the trimmer 😂

      @@FloridaTurfPros Agreed, I don't understand why they don't make commercial gas trimmers that spin clock-wise...just makes sense in my head. Trim walking forward as a right-hander and throwing the grass towards the middle vs smashing it against the wall and not cutting well.
      Also edging you can walk forward if the trimmer rotates clockwise vs. battling going against it. Other solution is holding it "left-handed" but that's just too awkward for me.

      I also work with the Counterclockwise rotating head to spit the debris back into the grass away from hard surfaces and flower beds but with that being said I have to walk backwards to do that, 🤦‍♂ lol @@FloridaTurfPros

    I’m finding that this is the same way I do it and then I remembered that I do it that way because I learned it by watching you. You did a video back in the day and you were emphatic that it was the most efficient way that you know of to do it. And I agree ,it’s all about efficiency and workflow /ease of execution. I think we all enjoy videos like this as well as the ones pertaining to back office stuff.

    This is exactly the way I have always soft edged. never understood why guys on youtube videos hold the trimmer straight up in the air all awkward, I have never seen any lawn guys out on routes doing it that way

    Backwards is key for me. And, it depends on the direction of the trimmer string (clockwise/counter-clockwise)!

    Curious, what trimmer blind are you running? I've been using the Echo Diamond. Quality of cut doesn't seem as good anymore.

    I have to trim the edge of the driveway / sidewalk because for some reason the mower seems to lift on that end and leaves little bitty hair type stragglers that annoy me and bothers the OCD in me. Seems like a big time killer.
    How are you mowing it without leaving those stragglers? This mostly happens to customers who want it mowed long (4 - 4.5"). The ones that don't request it too long, I mow at 3.5" and don't notice this.

    • @FloridaTurfPros
      @FloridaTurfPros  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One thing I've noticed is not smashing the edge down with the tire. If you can just straddle the edge without smashing it down it tends to not make those stragglers so noticeable.

    • @nowayjoze713
      @nowayjoze713 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FloridaTurfPros Cool, gonna have to try that out..I usually have the edge in between the wheels, so left side wheel on concrete and right side wheel on grass so I don't smash the edge with the tires. Maybe that's what's causing those little stragglers. Will try straddling the edge next time and see if that helps.
      My Ferris Z1 36" has a small trim side on the left so will see how much it can get done.
      Thanks!

    • @PAIDFOR50
      @PAIDFOR50 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some do because depending on 1. What state you are in. 2. What type of grass you are mowing. 3. What type of mower you are using and 4. What type of blades you are using. There you go. Sometimes it is very neccessary.
