    Mr. MALASKA...I Watch this vedio this morning, I'm 63 just retired recently, my handicap is 14.3 since retirement. I took your thoughts to the range and did exactly what you were teaching. The last 3 weeks been practicing alot and my last 5 outings I was playing very poorly in the high 80 to low 90's. I know what Impact Snap is and know what is expected but just lost all my confidence and ability. BUT TODAY.....for what ever reason, I followed and changed on to ever word you were saying, and by starting out with my 50 * at 9 o'clock the n follow thru to 3 o'clock I got a good feeling, then went to my ball and duplicate the swing which went exactly and hight I had imagined. I watched it fly and land and rolled just a a few feet. Then I did the same mind set with a full swing, got a good practice swing, felt great then wentt to my ball and duplicated my swing, the same thing happened great looking shot just like I remember before my 5 week insane sugguleding slump.I preceded to do the same routine with the rest of my irons and hybrids and had the best range sections in my life., and the divots were after I hit the ball....I took my time like you suggested, and even walked off a couble of times when I caught myself at the ball starting to talk to myself, I back off and said no no no...Go back and do your practice swing again then try again..Unbeliveable what just happened. Tomarrow Ssturday I play with my group, and do what you taught, and put it play..I'm looking forward tomarrow with a new mind set and attitude.....I'll let you know how I did....Thank you very much for your expertise......Leland
    .

    I've run into only one other golf instructor who talked like this. This fountain of knowledge is rare and needs to be absorbed before it's gone forever. There is so much crap out there. People have developed all kinds of bizarre methods, ideologies, philosophies, and are trying to market them and are steering every golfer then come in contact with into the ditch. It is a gift to make common sense come to life so that the average golfer can get his head around it. Btw, the initial tidbit about the time between range shots is crucial. That is my golf the next time I'm on the range which will be in Feb in Arizona. Right now, we've got a foot of snow with more on the way. Thanks for the great video!

    On the range I always step back and go through my pre shot routine to mimick the course. Or I like to rotate through short,mid,long irons then fairway woods, driver and repeat. Or imagine different shots on different holes to hit on the range. Change up targets. Hit different shots to the same target with different clubs. Etc. just taking a club and beating balls doesn’t do much for improvement. Great lesson here as usual from Malaska, love the course management. The thing about rolling the line in putting, you can have all sorts of wacky strikes and paths and it still rolls straight a lot of the time, it’s almost hard to get it to wobble.

    Great video....what he said about range practice and stopping for a minute or so in between is so true. I tend to just hit ball after ball to different targets withe same club but with no break in between. I’ll have to try that. As for the rest of the vlog, Mike has a great game plan all the way to the hole. I will definitely try that!
    As for the line on the ball when I putt, it makes me worry about squaring the putter on the line on the forward stroke and then that makes me try to manipulate the club going back. What’s a good way to get the focus away from this type of bad process?
    Best vlog I’ve seen on line by far.......love to see one where he shows all the types of short game shots you could hit around the green for a couples of holes....what shots you shot immediately eliminate because of the carry.....roll out ratio....and where you want your mistake to be.

    I will share a story here;
    I was playing golf 20+ years ago, and on a par 5 that bordered the street (in San Clement CA). There was a group of high school cross country runners running on the street, and the fellow (not so great of a golfer) mentioned before he took his swing teeing off that he hoped he would not hit into those runners. Well, he did! Okay, so his ball went OB. So he tees up again, and the group is farther up the street, like 250 down the street from the tee box, says he hopes he doesn't hit into the runners again, and he promptly hits another ball in their direction and OB (FORE!!). So twice he hits balls right where he did NOT want to hit the ball -- I am convinced that was in his head! And I say this because the second shot was a pretty long powerful drive yet still OB and into the group of runners. I think this guy was thinking about the bad shot and programming to hit the bad shot, all unconsciously and automatically.

    I stopped going to the range a couple years ago and only play courses now. I figured on my own that as a bogey golfer playing from the tips, I take about 30-35 full swings per round in four hours. Well at the range a bucket comes with 75 balls but I’m hitting like 65 of those with full swings in about 90 mins! Lol
    So taking double the amount of full swings in less than half the time. It’s silly. I think it’s okay to go once in a while or pre round or whatever. But to constantly go there Is no longer needed. The range is for total beginners. I went to the range first to get better.
    I played glen abbey last summer and was paired with a couple guys that should never play that course from ANY tee box lol. They were so bad. They should just go to the range and get a little better at least. Or go to small par 3 courses.

    I am a very good practice range ball striker or so I think... The biggest difference for me is when I hit a bad shot on the range, it's no big deal or no penalty etc. I just grab another ball and make the correction/adjustment and keep going. However, when we make a bad shot on the course, it's oh SHXT! There goes my round, where did that shot come from etc... And most of the time on the course I know I am going to hit a bad shot before I take the club back. When I address the ball something just doesn't feel right, so instead of backing out and starting over, I try to make adjustments at address and never get comfortable... Unfortunately, I am aware of the other players and don't want to be a slow player or look like I am trying to be a tour player. However, the extra few seconds I take backing out and re-addressing the ball is far less time than hitting a bad shot and the time it takes to look for a ball... Easier said than done... :-)

    Learn the swing mechanics, really come to know what you want to do to hit a ball and produce a particular shot. I do agree that "time between shots" is an issue, and throws off a golfer without a good concept of his/her swing mechanics. But I am convinced that if one knows his/her swing mechanics "cold," that the confidence level rises way up, and good shots are frequent and regular.
    I also appreciate what Malaska said about "not brooding" over a bad shot -- to analyze the bad shot, work out what was done wrong, determine what was correct, and then move on, without negative emotions getting in the way of the thinking process. This is what I have been striving to do recently, and I feel it works great.

    This is definitely not a quick fix. My first round (after much back yard practice at developing a feel and swing thought ) was not as great as I imagined it might be. Forced carries, high rough, and the occasional need to drop a high pitch or approach shot onto the green and stop it presented me with challenges to "get into it" when I was just at the "practicing my feel" stage of development. Still the season's young and I see reason to continue applying these tips.
