My mama was disabled my whole life. Eventually ended up wheelchair bound when I was 25 or so. Caring for her was the most fulfilling thing I've ever done. 💓 mom daughter love is diff than romantic love. Either way caregivers deserve more respect.
Someone suggesting to never leave Cole alone is ridiculous. I have a friend who is a quad who goes out alone to clubs. People who are disabled don't always need a 24/7 caregiver. Of course everyone's situation is different but that's totally up to the individual.
What a real reflection of the good and the bad. Your reflection of the Alaska excursion made me realize how sometimes we don’t make accommodations for the disabled.

Omg! I completely agree w/ travel pains! I used to travel so much more but its gotten harder and harder over the years - 30% of the trip is trying to make things more accessible, 40% stress, and 30% fun...so exhausting!

Planning for an outing sometimes is physically and emotionally and psychologically draining. I have Multiple Sclerosis and it can be difficult to anticipate what may be needed. After more than 18 years.. I’m trying to stop apologizing for the extra stuff I carry and the accommodations that might be needed. I try and talk about it and share these experiences in the hopes that someone else will treat another human being with kindness, compassion and understanding. I totally understand the Travel Stress...it hits me too. Although still somewhat ambulatory MS has affected all I do and at what tempo.
