Cool! This one was much more designed for bottle capping than bottle corking like I showed in the video. I wonder how many bottles it has capped in its lifetime
Thanks a lot! I was really happy with how well the paint complimented all the other materials as well :) On a different note, stay safe and healthy with all that's going on right now!
Looks very nice, but why did you choose to throw away the nut and bolt at .18 seconds? They looked fine to me with a good clean up. When doing restorations, it is important to retain as many of the original parts as possible if they can be properly resurrected with cleaning, etc. You should have keep that nut and bolt and tossed the toilet flange that DIDN’T originally belong to the capper. Good job, basically, and it worked well! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A do agree with you about keeping as many original parts as possible. I threw out the nut and bolt simply because it was not the original. It was far too long and was the incorrect size bolt for the hole it passed through. The new replacement bolt was much closer to what the original would have been in size and length. Thanks for watching!
Random: Thanks for your explanation regarding tossing that nut and bolt. Maybe it would have been a good idea to make a written comment to your viewers about that, so we understand why you did that. That would have explained everything. Thanks for letting us know.
I wonder why the manufacturer had the letters on the handle stamped different direction up on each side? I saw you ended up flipping it over and one side was still right side up.
I know it’s been about a month, when you did the bottle capper restoration, did you try and remove the capper,I believe they are interchangeable for different size cap.just a thought.good video.
Hey, thanks for the question! On some of these capers I have seen that piece is indeed removable and is usually threaded on, however, with this specific capper it was pressed onto the larger piece that moves up/down and was unfortunately not removable. I didn't find any information about this capper or the company that made it, so I'm not sure if they offered different sizes. If they did you'd likely have had to purchase the whole piece that slides up/down with a different sized capper attached. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the question. It's really just a preference of mine - That said, since the paint stripper I use is in gel form, I find that it sticks to the cloth nicely and I can easily 'dab' the paint stripper onto the areas that most need it. Also, it seems to be a great way to force larger amounts of paint stripper into recessed areas and around sharper 'L' shaped edges. At the end of the day it's a lot more messy than using a brush, and is likely not any more or any less efficient so it may or may not be the best method hahaha. Thanks for watching!
I totally agree with you there. I always try to reuse bolts when I can. That said, with this project the bolt that I did replace was not the original and wasn't the correct size, so I tried to replace it with a suitable bolt that hopefully doesn't look too out of place. Thanks for watching!
It reminds me of my beer bottling days only we used the metal bottle caps.
I should test this out on bottles with metal caps to see if it'd work with them too! Thanks a lot for watching!
I think it would require a different head. Mind you, it was fifty years ago that I brewed any beer!
nice job. we used to have one as a child for sealing home made root beer bottles

Im i the only one who noticed he had the handle upsidedown at first? Looks great i coukd put that old girl to good use

It really is a great question haha. It feels so wrong always having the text on one side being upside down. Thanks for watching!

Thank you!

Ive noticed you use a cloth for appling the paint stripper rather than a brush. Is there a reason for this or is it just personal preference?

A haste onde corre a peça, eu deixaria polida. A tinta vai descascar com o atrito.
Mas foi um bom trabalho.
Concordo. Talvez eu refaça no futuro. Obrigado por assistir!
This was a vintage bottle opener.
Haha well I suppose with a slight modification it could indeed be a bottle opener!

Спасибо, я согласен!
I would advise against replacing bolts and fasteners unless you have too.

I stopped while painting... that´s too strange
Hahaha well thanks for watching (some) of the video!
@Stephen Lee Hahaha fair enough, Stephen!
