  • The Meze Advar IEMs seem to go alongside the new 109 Pro, not only in being a good mid-range pair of IEMs, but also having something of a similar sound signature. Meze sent me a pair to review.

I have this set and Love them. They sound different to me than you experience with them on your review. Steve from Bloom Audio has mentioned that they were the best for Metal music so I gave them a shot. To my ears Iron Maiden has never sounded better. The tambre from the electric guitars combined with the speed of the double bass drum and even hearing Steve Harris's bass guitar cleary and separately from the guitars and dums is a treat. With that being said I have large ears so these almost fit sideways in my ears giving a direct shot to my eardrums so that improves the bass response dramatically. I have heard a variety of reviews on this set and I think that the fit plays a huge roll in the overall sound signature. They will fit a variety of ears but if you have large ear canals and can get them sideways they are a trear. The IE600 is the same for me as in an entirely different sound signature with excellent bass and overall resolution with the deep sideways insertion.

I love my Meze Advars. Use with Astell &Kern Kann Max. For the price I’d be hard pressed to find a better IEM. 4.5 stars.

Hello, I happen to have the AK Kann Max as well and was looking for an upgrade from my AK Jerry Harvey Audio DIANA.
Do you think these will be a good upgrade? I love the Diana for it's vocals, but I am looking for bigger soundstage in an IEM...
Would appreciate any help / tips you may have.
      All the best!

I regularly use my desktop rig on the ie900 and it's impressive just how well they can scale. Really great experience imo

Thanks for sharing I have not tried single DD IEMs much and I'll start with IE900

are the criticisms of recessed mids on IE900 true? how do you find the airiness? how would you describe the tonality?

I always have some problem driving my Andro and Heir 5.0 using MY LG V60, so my IE300 became my EDC everywhere as it can be driven properly with anything.
LG's dac/amp are good only for some power, for BA IEMs they are noisy as hell.

Noticed that recently going back to my V60 after using a BTR7 with my CA Mammoth for six months, that Fiio is crazy quiet. Wasn't entirely put off by the noise floor of the V60, but it was there.

Well I was seriously considering getting these but after this review I’m not so sure because I listen to a lot of rock and heavier music. Also, I’m concerned about what these sound like without a DAC which you didn’t mention.

Nice IEM, but i question Mezes choice of the standard FinalE Tips. For me the Advar also sound more rounded with something like ifis go bar, they don’t pair well with my RU6 Dongle. The Advar benefits from the right gear and tip-swapping

That is obvious as analogue sounding iems are supposed to sound better with clinical dacs. Opposites are supposed to synergise.

I’m ordering the ifi go blu with blue tooth. The Advars have a shorter nozzle than most iems so the Final L fit me perfectly

Just checked and you did nothing about the new IE300-900 of Sennheiser huh?

No, I haven't done any Sennheiser reviews lately.

Exactly this. I told someone that my $60 Tin Hifi T2 Plus sound better than these. You could buy a Qudelix 5K, a few pairs of other iems and a pair of HD6XX for the price of these.
