"as a society we need to stop glorifying the phase of our lives we are not in yet"- this is such an important epiphany because today all we do is dream of the future being better than the present without realising that we are actually living one of the phases we used to dream of.
1. if you try to be for everybody you will be for nobody 2. people pleasing is showing the opposite effect 3. 9/10 times when people say something negative about you it’s a sign your doing something right 4. you do not rise to your goals you fall to the levels of your systems 5. imposter syndrome is sometimes not imposter syndrome 6. just do it 7. stop exercising for how you look 8. think about how you will be remembered 9. stop trying to look like everyone else - it’s a double edge sword 10. you are so blessed to be alive 11. stop trying to be more like a man to win in your career 12. absolutely no one cares 13. stop placing value on how you look 14. the grass is not greener on the other side it’s greener where you water it 15. full time employment is a waste 16. now is the perfect time to do the wild thing 17. don’t miss out on the change advantage 18. there are scarier things than toxic productivity 19. stop living for tomorrow 20. understand the primary colours of happiness the happiness of pleasure the happiness of grace the happiness of excellence 21. the power of relationships is knowing when to quit 22. train your nervous system 23. nurture connection 24. everyday is a learning day
Your use of your experience in supporting people at the end of their lives is so powerful. Thank you for sharing - definitely food for thought. You are an inspiration :)
thank you for this video faye! #5 really resonated with me! i work as a genetic counselor and my specialty is cancer, but this year i started seeing prenatal patients as well. i am definitely experiencing some imposter syndrome, but i have to remind myself that i really am still learning about this different specialty, and that’s okay. it’s actually exciting to know that there’s still so much to learn ❤
Faye you‘re a badass! I am obsessed with your channel. I am in my last semester in psychology now, doing everything at once - applying for jobs, studying for an exam and writing my thesis while trying to figure out where I want to live after uni. It‘s so inspiring for me see what you have accomplished. Happy holidays Faye💞🎅🏻🎄
I'm 30, and even I still struggle with some of the things you talk about. There is a lot I have struggled with overcoming in order to try and be "functional" in a highly dysfunctional world. I can definitely say I am more sure of myself in ways that I wasn't before, but there's still a learning process at hand (and there always will be 😆) Coming across your channel was like receiving a breath of fresh air, and it didn't take long for me to subscribe after perusing it. I love how sensible, helpful, and relatable your content is and how it emphasizes the importance of refocusing ourselves and our lives in as practical and holistic of a manner as we can 🙏🏻
I started with your study tips video and how your high school teachers said u can't become a doctor and now seeing your account's name with a Dr prefix made me sooo happy like omg go girl so proud of you , as a person you haven't met I am teary eye happy for u , god bless u for amazing future ahead.
Faye - love your channel!! Amazing perspective on life - well out of my thirties but it's never too late!! Merry Xmas hope work goes well and you have the chance for some festive fun!!🎄🎄🎄❤
I've been noticing that every time i comment on any of your videos.. You really, like actually read the comments and reply back. That means the world to me. You are genuinely so kind.
In my PhD currently & find the women to be worse than the men for the most part likely due to insecurity. Most grad students seem to hate writing as well which seems crazy to me. Maybe it's because it's always been treated as a chore and not an art in school.
So true but also so sad that as women, this is something we have to unlearn cause we are trained to do that growing up. I'll soon post a video about the whole "if you wear a dress, you'll be taken less seriously, if you like glitter, you seem less smart" issue because I recently learned how much it actually affects me! So glad to hear that women are starting to change this 🥹🥰
I understand the message, but did like 3 different points all have to be around looks? It is FINE to want to look good. It is FINE to exercise to look nice. Obviously dont take it to extremes, but can we please stop telling women what to feel about their bodies/looks? It is okay to feel insecure about something and then fix it. Its when that mindset is taken to extremes, or when the insecurity makes us feel like crap, that its bad. Also, wIth all due respects, you have lost weight, and im pretty damn sure youve admitted that looks played a role in that weight loss. you are also conventionally attractive. Its real easy to say "nobody cares about looks :)" when you are a thin woman with perfectly styled hair, good skin, makeup on, jewelry, and nice clothes. Also, "just start a business so you only have to work 2 days" is fucking awful advice. Girl you cannot give advice on what to do here when you are an outlier. The average person is NEVER gonna be able to create their own business that thrives with only 2 days of work a week. That is ascenine. Some people will have to do a kinda boring 9 to 5 to live, and thats fine. Obviously its ideal to find a job you like, but its so fucking priveliged to pretend like thats not a need for the vast majority of people. This is also really weird advice when youre also working a lot..? Why are you trying to pretend to be a 2 days a week entreprenour girlie while also trying to say youre overworked and have your full schedule taken up by work? SO basically, you are working daily, likely more than 10 hours a day on the low side, but youre out here trying to tell us to work 2 days a week?
Hey! I’m a firm believer in if the message is meant for you, it will resonate with you. In this instance it hasn’t and that’s ok. But there’s a few hard disagrees I want to clarify: - being “conventionally” attractive is why it’s even more important because “conventional” attractiveness is fleeting. I learnt this the hard way when I gained weight after placing so much value on my looks and I really lost myself when I was no longer “conventionally” attractive. It’s the same thing so many women go through when their age or motherhood dictates they are no longer attractive by societies standards. - I lost weight going through an extremely stressful period of my life. I was clinically overweight + had a binge eating disorder before so neither situation was healthy. - on the business part, if that message isn’t meant for you that’s fine. If anyone else is interested in learning more then I highly recommend reading The 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris. It completely changed my perspective especially as a gal who did not grow up in a wealthy household and was taught that if you worked hard, got a good degree and then a good job, this was the best route to financial freedom (not true). - you’re absolutely right, the hours I’m working now aren’t healthy but luckily I only have 7 months left until I’ll have reached a point in my career to have a lot more freedom.
@@DrFayeBate I do usually really enjoy your content, but this one fell very flat if Im being honest. - Yes beauty is fleeting, but that doesnt mean wanting feeling good about our looks is a sin. Obviously its not what we should stake our whole worth in, but as women it is a pretty big part of our lives. We should be critical of why that is, but also its not bad to want to adhere to it and feel pretty. Most of your audience is 20-somethings, people who realistically are at the time of their lives where they want to feel attractive. Saying "its only downhill from here and beauty is fleeting" is a little strange. Also, older women can still be beautiful? Its not like you turn into an ogre the day you turn 30. -While yes, I know you had binge ED and was overweight, but looks still played a role and you were honest with that. I respect that honesty, just a shame youre trying to backtrack it now. Im not saying weight loss should be purely aesthetic, obviously if youre overweight its healthy to lose it. But it does also make you more conventionally attractive and most people feel their prettiest at a healthy weight. IMO both health and aesthetics play a HUGE role in fitness and healthy eating. If we're being comletely real here: looks matter. They matter a lot. I would love to live in a society where it didnt, but thats not possible in our lifetime. - I have heard good things about that book but have not personally read it. I do still think its insanely out of touch to frame it as "just get a side hussle so you only need 2 days a week". I think its very irresponsible to spew that advice knowing that 99% of people who attempt this will fail and wont make any money. Again, you are an outlier here. You are a relatively successful youtuber who gets sponsors, you are a fully educated medical doctor, and you seemingly have a successfull side hussle. Most of your viewers are regular ass students just trying to stay afloat during teir school. They do not need some random internet side hussle or start their own company; they need to finish school and get a real job thatll actually give them reliable money. -Well yeah, but you are still touting advice that has not been tested yet. You are still working a hell of a lot more than what youre suggesting. I dont know your plans, but I also highly doubt youre just gonna leave medicine completely and become an entreprenour? So basically: you are currently overworking, and even in the future you will still hold down a "real job" while doing the side stuff plus TH-cam. Yet youre telling your followers that they can just become basically jobless but still make money all willy nilly. Im not trying to be rude here, I do genuinely enjoy a lot of your content and have been watching for a long time. I just think a lot of this advice is either hypocritical or delusional. I see good intent, but a lot of this will be useless for any real women out there. It sounds nice and empowering, but if you look at any of it critically it falls apart.

FYI - the links to your IG in your description and on your channel don't work, I'm guessing you changed your handle recently? ❤
Ooh Good
What microphone do you use?
11:09 "stop trying to be more like a man to get ahead in your career"..... Ahhh it took me long time to accept it
