Ubuntu is the only distro that can connect my wifi keyboard. Mint can _see_ it, and says it's connected, but it isn't. Also my usb external monitor has ubuntu drivers that just worked.

Agree. Ubuntu is a great OS and way better than Windows. Gnome is great to use everyday. It's because of that, i'm a full user of Linux for my work as a small company manager and for gaming. Ubuntu save me a lot of time because it works simply and fast.
Indeed it is... From a security workstation point of view I choose Ubuntu PRO LTS with Live Kernel Patch update. No reboot needed. I hope the next LTS will support same security HOME folder access permissions like introduced in 24.10 for snaps.
I would say Fedora, Debian and Arch because they are the only 3 real distributions used as base for hundreds of other derivatives. The real (best) distributions is the one you like and use the most.
Fedora is good, but not so good for beginner but good. Debian is good but also not for beginner. Debian is also very old, very old kernel. If it is no problem than debian is very good. Arch is just for arch fans. I had arch...it need very much work and there is a big risk that with some Update arch broke. Linux is good for beginner, new packages/kernel, big & good Community. I also come back to Ubuntu after years of trying debian, arch, fedora, mint, manjaro.
@@UbuntuPersonNoMint Huh? Have you ever used Mint? Flatpaks are completely optional. It is set up but there's no any flatpaks installed by default. You can even remove it and won't reinstall itself again like snapcrap on Ubuntu.
@@matyasmarkkovacs8336 shouldn't you set it up by yourself if it's optional? I haven't used that crap in years anyways and don't recommend it to anyone.
@Mando-Otaku it does matter unofficial apps give more problems. If you're using unofficial flatpaks you'll have issues that dont exist in the official snap
@@matyasmarkkovacs8336 I don't use crap operating systems anymore I've tried your shitnux mint and honestly it's over hyped garbage that's in the spotlight because of politics and propaganda
My question is mint vs ubuntu (i still dont start into the linux world) but if you "as a linux expert comparator" (i saw various vids) say that ubuntu is the best... it´s all said.
Your question "Mint vs Ubuntu", Linux Mint's main edition is uses Ubuntu as the base, stripping all the things that makes Ubuntu a bad distro, Like Gnome, and Ubuntu's Snaps, which they refuse give up on, or even improve. If one has no problem working with Snaps and wants Gnome's minimal interface, then Ubuntu is the best distro, though if they want something similar to Traditional windows and not want anything to do with snaps, then Linux mint. Ofcourse among the linux community Linux mint and pop os are more preferred for beginners due to everything having a GUI and a better overall user experience
Use something like Manjaro or EndeavourOS. Anything Debian based will have to be canned and reinstalled once the new version comes out, that includes both mint and ubuntu. I could never actually stick with Linux until I started using something Arch based and now I'm on Arch.
Loved Ubuntu two years ago but I can't stand it now. Wayland brakes every single time and snaps are literally awful. I'd recommend Fedora with gnome. It just works better for me
Ive tried gnome on Wayland with Ubuntu, Debian, and OpenSUSE and it has always worked beautifully for me. It's far more performant than X11 and works much much better with multiple displays. X11 on the other hand has always felt more sluggish to me and hasn't ever worked with mixed-DPI displays, and often just straight up doesnt work at all when I plug in a HDMI projector or TV to my laptop. The scrolling also feels a lot worse in firefox and touchpad gestures rarely work with it. The only gripe I've had with it is when legacy X11-based apps are blurry on high-DPI displays (using fractional scaling) through XWayland. But gnome 47 has just released an experimental workaround for that. I've tried it and it works really well. Even then, most apps support Wayland now - Jetbrains just released wayland support and electron apps do too. Only things I've personally been waiting on is KiCAD and Onlyoffice.
for new commer from windows os i think Ubuntu is the best choice but after that maybe can try debian or arch.. btw why stick into 1 os of you can explore more then 1..
Ubuntu is pretty buggy!Add to that the unoptimized snaps and you don't really have the best distro! In fact you have a nuisance for people coming from Windows trying Linux for the first time!
Ubuntu is the worst Linux distro and Canonical is the worst offender in the linux space. The snap store isn't even open source and they're constantly trying to force these worthless snaps into every other distro. It's a shame that people have allowed this to go on at all, let alone for so long. A company like Canonical is a testament to why Linux becoming more popular is a bad thing.
snaps are good tho, the performance issues have been fixed, also if canonical goes broke so does mint, zorin and etc, plus they've contributed the most to linux desktop, be honest with me the reason why you are hating on ubuntu is because other online folks told you to hate on it as well

Ngreedia drivers.
But not mentioning AMD which bends backwards for the Linux community, instead of giving them the middle finger like Ngreedia does .

MX-Linux being a Debian based distro is just unbreakable.
Everything works stable out of the box!
I once messed up the package manager real bad in MX-Linux, had to re-install the whole thing, no distro is unbreakable if you're stupid enough.
Lol

Snap and app armour will come preinstalled and configured on Ubuntu. I would use flatpak instead of snap
And for apps that are only offered as snaps?
