I just order another one and when it comes in I pick the replacement up first then return the bad one at Customer Service. I do have to pay another 2 bucks proccessing fee. I'm sure you can save that by calling them them, sending the broken one back and waiting for the new one. 🤔

I got one for Christmas, and it was busted all to crap, really wanted it, and couldn't get another one so I just glued and glued some more, it is a fragile, finicky thing , but got it working after some tinkering. In the process of adding a few things to make it more fun...

It's probably a bit to late now but you should have given Menards a call and they might have been able to make good? That's a pretty old video so they may not have any more left? My thoughts were since I would have to get another one there would be a good chance that it would be messed up as well. My unit was in worse shape than yours, believe it or not. I just took my time putting it all back together and it works just fine. It took a while to accomplish. I'm in the process of adding some oil tanks, pipes, etc to add more eye candy. I'd say that many people are going through the same thing, since the design is a bit wimpy. My thought is it probably will be changed or eliminated at some point. I at least have a working one.

I have done the same with many Menards products as lots of my how to fix it videos are Menards. Just like you are doing making it better yourself instead of returning it.! WELL DONE.!
Thus is a great pump it has some problems gut it's still cool to run I got the ho model by mistake but found the perfect spot on my layout in the corner where when the train runs tword it it looks small from far away it will work just fin

Thanks Frank. I'm in a 1 train room apartment sadly and my small layout is 9x9x9x6 until I can find/afford a house? My tree's are Woodland Scenics from my local hobby shop. They are very nice but kind of expensive purchased when I was living with my Mom after Dad passed. Can't really afford them now with the high cost of rent and everything else. Glad I got them when I did.

This one is actually pretty complicated so it could be priced higher I think? Although not lighted the drive system for the pump looks very detailed. The replacement works as it should. I'm going to put it on a push button switch so kids and even BIG kids like us can turn it on and off.! BIG 😊Thanks👍
If the counter weights weren’t binding so much I would just glue it back on as well. Something is not assembled properly preventing it from running smoothly.🤷♂️
Hi Mark, too bad about the pump, it sucks when something doesn't work. Btw a buddy of mine ordered a 6 pack of the new military cars and they came without boxes, just the plastic shell. I wonder if this is a new policy. Try to find out next time your at Menards t.o pick up a item. Beings I have to have everything mailed to me it would be nice to know

@@markslioneltrains I noticed that Lionel issued "Space Force" cars recently; so maybe Menard's decided to jump into the game too and quickly? My one cousin just retired as a LTC from the USAF and I myself am an Air National Guard retiree and these days everything is " Space Force ", " Space Force..." within the USAF...

The Lionel power lockons will work with Menards track same as all Lionel track. Not sure about any other manufacturers? Mike at Toy Train Tips and Tricks will know about the others so check him out.! Love his channel.! 👍

The pumps in my area have those shafts going straight up and down . Just a thought -to make it more rigid / straight vertical. Be sure it does not bind up the gears. This Menard's version is much quieter than the $100 Atlas issue. My little black piece on the pump came off also. Just used some c8 glue and fixed. Great piece though. Very affordable

I just recently got a Menards pump also and had the same adventure trying to get it out of the packaging. Mine runs well and is nice and quiet.

Maybe the pump was made on the 3rd (night) factory shift.
