been pointed out my cards (the first 3) all have Karnov in them, i was gonna take down but don't have the time now and people have already watched.... 7 is Predator Activision : 1988 6 is Gryzor Ocean : 1988. Sorry for the mistake, if you didn't notice my editor has changed and i lost all my pre made cards etc. so had to create new ones and then for some reason when you edit them they don't save ...really pisses me off when I upload and things aren't right ...
@ : I sold my C64 and all game cassettes to help fund my Amiga500. Many of my favourite 64 games was ”obtainable” (ahemm, hemm) in a Amiga version. That very same Amiga reanimates two or three times every year, for a couple of days. And I make sure to play me some Last ninja trilogy among a bunch of other loved ones. I use moist collector bags in that big plastic storage box to keep everything healthy, between the outings. Working fine ever since 1998.
Target Renegade was phenomenal on all 8bit formats but the music on the C64 was out of this world. It also had some of the best ever boxart. I remember going into WHSmith in Blackpool on a day trip and there it was sat on the shelf!
I used to go down to my mates house and play Target Renegade on his C64 (I had a Speccy) and couldn't get enough of it. I also remember being obsessed with Navy Seals and The Untouchables on it as well. Great times, feels like another life.
Platoon was excellent. I remember you could tell you were getting out of the jungle near the village as the background got lighter. Good memories of playing this, then going outside to play in the woods with spud guns and throwing sticks living out the game.
Karnov. I had no idea at the time in was a spectrum port. Back in the 80's i thought it was a game from the Soviet Union and that is what a C64 game was like in the USSR.
I didn't have this complilation but did have most of the games separately, Platoon was great! I remember having difficulty though spotting the tripwires on my blurry Decca TV, Barbarian was class too, especially playing with a mate. No words needed for the last Ninja, classic! I bet it was great getting these compilations on Christmas morning as a nipper
Totally mate , I actually bought most of my c64 games on original as I was the only person round my way with one so no one to copy games off .. Amiga was a different story though... I don't think I owned one original game on there
@@oldstylegaming My mate had a C64 for a while before I got one so there was a instant collection for me to copy on the twin tape stereo! Not all worked like and I did buy a good few for the C64. Piracy was rife on the Amiga right from the start, I did buy a few though, not many like :)
I still have this game collection. My brother and i bought it at christmas of 1988. Arguably the best collection of C64 games along with konami's coin op hits, Solid Gold and Taito's coin op hits. Great Memories !
I got this compilation with my zx spectrum. I was extremely gutted as predator never did load. Id get the small cinematic of that ship entering the atmosphere then my speccy + 2 would always reset
My nostalgia in regards to compilations, were those demo discs we used to get for PC back in the 90s and early 2000s. There was also one compilation of games that were on floppy disks and what, consisting of MS-DOS and Windows 3.1 games. Some of which weren't intended for kids.
Target Renegade - I loved the graphics and the music. I got fairly good at beating the first level too. Unfortunately, that's all I could play because my cracked copy crashed after that. Combat School - I could never even complete the first event. Good graphics though. Barbarian - I loved the fighting, but I could never defeat Drax. I could get to him, then I'd always get hit by one of his magic missiles. I could dodge the first and second ones, but then he would ALWAYS hit me as soon as I got close enough to hit him. The Last Ninja - I loved this, except for crossing the rivers and swamp. Sure, once you know the proper moves to make, you can literally do it with your eyes closed, but until then, it was just trial and error.
Would love to see Game Set and Match and Fists n Throttles reviews for the C64 Had one of those plug in tv joysticks that had various c64 games on. Snapped the joystick doing the Biathlon section in Winter Games 😀
I never got to play the last ninja, I only played it's sequal last ninja 2, but that was an awesome game and was a very close second behind IK+ as my favorite C64 game
There is another version of predator that allows you to complete the game properly. It’s much slower but if played through an emulator you can speed it up.
I can never decide if Predator is a good game or not (didn't know the C64 had a bugged end of game/boss battle). I applaud it for following the plot of the movie so closely which is why I start to like it.... but there's barely much gameplay there, if you haven't seen the movie you won't have a clue what to do, and you can complete it in 7-8 minutes.
We are loading twins... Seriously though I had only had a vic 20 before that Xmas and my mates had spectrums so when it started playing music while loading ... Mind blown
The best graphics for Renegade and Gryzor were on the Amstrad, its just a shame the music wasnt up to much. As for karnov the best way to play it is either in the arcade or via mame.
Too bad for Karnov, it could have been so much better. This version uses bitmap mode with software sprites, soft-scrolling and so on. It was destined to fail on 1Mhz CPU.
I had this pack too for xmas , expected better from predator as system 3 handled the game. I still have a sealed copy on disk of combat school. Lets just forget karnov and remember the other 6 brilliant titles
Platoon looks very similar to the mastertronic flash gordon game, that also had fantastic music. Karnov even emulates the speccys colour bleeding, only game I can think of that does it. Would love to know why they did it that way (no c64 artist maybe?). I never cared for the last ninja games as they were far too finicky in the control department, especially the first one with the pixel precision required to get across the water by jumping on rocks. It just wasn't fun and was bad game design imho.
far out i remember jumping over those damn rocks, i was able to hack the game with one of those quick load cartridges and get unlimited lives even then i gave up after trying for an hour to get across that
@robvegas9354 yup, I think the nice graphics glossed over a pretty awful game. I presume they got better but I never bothered with the sequels as the first one soured me to the entire thing.
Sounds like you don't like Activision, but they did some great games too, The Activision Decathlon was an early C64 game released in 1983 and was in my opinion far better than Ocean's Daily Thomson's Decathlon that was more popular due to the name and released the following year. Both these games were ripped to shreds however by Epyx's Summer Games and the classics following in the series, well as long as you had a disk drive since it was multiload, World Games was ultimately my favourite, but I digress. There was some huge Activision classics like Ghostbusters, The Little Computer People (disk version only, tape version didn't save and had missing features), Pitfall II and more.
ok Ive just pinned a comment, if it was all I probs would have took the video down and reuploaded but have no time as kids in from school now...sorry my pinned comment explains why this has happened and what the game details are

What a great video of classic games! The last ninja was such a mindblower back then. Lots of great memories. My goodness how time flies.
Yeah too fast mate, seems like only yesterday I was up in my room with my mates playing these
