The idea is cool, but I don't think the side load is gonna be good for the corners of the camper. There is definitely a lot of side load leverage, I'd think? I made a cart with large casters to roll mine around.
@@BuildItWheelItExploreIt I agree. Problem with a cart is I can’t raise it that high or it won’t clear the garage door. Smaller wheels won’t hold the load. At my old house I had 10’ doors and 12’ ceilings. I made a cart for the Northstar camper. Was safe and stable. But too high.
@McSpeedAlaskanAdventures is the door opening enough to back the truck with camper on, then set jacks down and pull truck out? Then a cart could be used or build as low profile as you need?
@@BuildItWheelItExploreIt that’s the issue. My fourth bay has a 12’ door and 14’ ceiling. But my four post lift is bolted to the floor in that bay. I can park the truck in there with the camper but can’t unload it clean to the floor. So I have to drop it outside and then get it down low to slip under the 16’ wide 8’ high door. With the jacks and rain gutters it won’t fit through the 8x8 door. Just a tad too wide.
Next time, connect both jacks at the bottom with ratchet straps, like that you will be pulling from all 4 jacks evenly. To avoid the bumps put some thin plywood so the casters will roll more freely.
I'm watching now! So, on my manual jacks, if I press in the lever, I can use my foot to easily drop the jacks down all the way without cranking. Super fast.
@@kevinmhardie842 yes. Absolutely. However I waited too late to order a pair of them and the local RV store was closed. Had to get it off that weekend so we did it 100% manual.
Do you think this is a good way to roll the camper and store it for the winter?
