Sometimes I wonder if Alex Guitar is just Thomas in disguise

Hahahaha I've wondered that myself! Was worried I've been sleep walking.

Which one removes more nutrients out of the 2 in the same time frame?

Scrubber remove nutrients much faster, until they are fully grown, then they need cleaning/harvesting.

    Can I run both?

I'd pick one or the other; otherwise they will compete for nutrients and that can cause issues with growth for one or the other (or even both) and also strip the system of nutrients the corals will also need. If you want a refugium because of the other benefits (like having a safe place for microorganisms like pods to reproduce) then just go with a refugium.

They both seem like mess to me 😊

Once upon a time, having a turf scrubber was the basic gullibility check for a reef customer, if they had one you know they like to peddle so time to take them for a ride.....🤣
Turf scrubbers are misguided tech from over 70 years ago and has long since been abandoned in any serious aquaculture. There are all sorts of problems with a turf scrubber aside from the fact you are growing unwanted algae that will reproduce into the main system or the fact it uses up so much trace elements..... These same problems, for the most part, are not present in most algae reactors or refugium's. That is of course before you account for the fact chaeto has about 8times the uptake of unwanted nutrients when compared to the slime or hair algae in a scrubber for the same space and light intensity, and sea lettuce has about 12 times as much uptake and can be fed to some fish types once harvested.
If someone tries to sell you a turf scrubber or suggests in any way it is a better option than an algae reactor/refugium, back away slowly and run once you are out of striking distance. Don't take the risk of catching reefrabies from them, you will end up with a TDS meter pretending to be a salinity meter.....

Chaeto is 8x more efficient? Please show some data with this complete false statement! You really hate scrubbers, we get it! But to keep spewing falsehoods is just wrong and shows how little you truly know about science. We suggest you do some research on the micro algae grown inside a scrubber before commenting again! You’re trying to present your completely wrong “opinions” as facts!
As for aquaculture not using them, we aren’t sure what “aquaculture” facilities you have been to but your neighbors garage doesn’t count as one. There are plenty large facilities using them and swear by them and the savings they give them. Maybe try reaching out to them so you can get some correct information.
