Made an Airfix model of this class last year, and am now painting the larger class boat with the open cockpit on top. Dad was a lifemember of the RNLI as he was a sailor at times, and only just missed the dreaded `Fastnet' due to work . He crewed for Chay Blythe many many years ago.
To all those would Sail on Her please Trust Her and she will do everything in her power to keep you all Safe out there God Bless you all even thou I'm in New Zealand all the Coast Guard's in this World you are the True Heros
Update: At 9min 36sec you can see the crew attach the lanyard and then use this to manually release the bow strop. I believe this is a back-up in case the Coxswain operated release in the wheelhouse fails to operate
Launching and recovery in a F4+ into a prevailing wind ( S.East round to West) must be courageous. If there is still a lifeboat in Sovereign Harbour it could cover the 17 miles to Hastings in almost the time it takes to launch at Hastings. If the incident was west of Hastings time to get there would be less.
Saying it's a training session, might it not make sense to train... for the real thing haha it's like firefighters training without hoses or water 'it's not a real fire you don't need water'. I think the fact is not everywhere has those facilities and it is just a charity. And at sea its more hours than minutes that count if you're drowning you're dead already.
Do the shore party really need all the hard hats and yellow high vis? H&S gone mad again. It's time we told them we are grown up and have a bit of common sense! There's a time and place for PPE.
Well, you know, when you are in close proximity to heavy machinery, it kinda makes sense to be highly visible so hopefully the driver can see you, and you don't end up crushed to death. But you sound like you know better!
1) the clothing provides weather protection. 2) having shore crew in hi vis is essential when you have non-crew on the beach, 3) the helmets provide weather protection.
Funny that. This is that time and that place. Odd thing about " common sense " is not common and like the Dunning Kruger effect a lot of people lay claim to it when if they had any sence, common or otherwise they would first do a risk assessment as if they themselves would be held liable for failings.
That's not Hastings in East Sussex Where's the East Hill which leads to Fairlight Glen? Where's London Road leading to the A21 and Ore Village Where's The Nelson Pub?I've Lived In Hastings for 14 Year's I attended Hillcrest Comprehensive in Ore ! If This is Hastings then I must be in a Parallel universe! The Geographical information in this video is all wrong The Fishing Boat in shot is registered in Rye 16 milies further up the coast! I don't understand Why everybody is obsessed with posting misleading video's are Your lives really that boring?
This is definitely Hastings Bob😅 Have you ever been down to the harbour? This footage was taken from the harbour arm! Most if not all of the local fishing boats are registered in Rye, as that is the nearest port. Hastings lost it's port status in the middle ages

I use to be on launch and recovery when Hastings had the Oakley class lifeboat it was a lot harder then
It's a shame there is no video footage of the RNLB Fairlight, that was a lovely looking lifeboat

So slow though
@@jameswatson6099 The boat has to be transported a long way at low tide
Glad I’m not drowning it takes its time Norfolk’s just drops straight in😂
Back off, it's so obviously a training session
It was a training exercise, so no need to go any quicker
@@spentacle Might have been better if that was mentioned in the title.
@@charlieb3885 How do they launch in an emergency?

Looking at your launching I can see you could do with a jinker pole give you more length from tractor to boat trailer
How would that help?
Low tide I am guessing?

Yellow safety PPE denotes who is in the squad versus onlookers...sort of picking fly shite out of pepper with that objection!
