    Inspired by the Love of Jesus Christ
    Verse of the Day (as related to the topic of this video):
    "Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly]. For just as you [hypocritically] judge others [when you are sinful and unrepentant], so will you be judged; and in accordance with your standard of measure [used to pass out judgment], judgment will be measured to you." - Matthew 7:1-2 (AMP)
    A movie I highly recommend: The Gospel According to Matthew (starring a very animated and engaging acting performance by Bruce Marchiano, who plays Jesus). This is a word-for-word adaptation that has a unique take on the body language and charisma of Jesus, and also makes it easier to understand and quicker to read the story. I am hopeful that this movie gives you peace, love, hope, security, comfort, and answers, as it did me, and continues to do to this day. God bless you.

    Here’s a quick disclaimer. The episode, “She’s Got Game” explores sexism. Now, it’s obvious guys and girls have similarities, and differences, however, I chose not to address the topic of gender equality for this video. The reason for this is simply because I didn’t want this video to go in that direction, and I can only imagine the wars in the comments section if it did. That being said, regardless of whether or not you believe in gender equality, I think we can all agree regardless of your gender, you deserve respect, and that’s what this video is about. I ask that if you do decide to leave a comment, that you keep it respectful, and you take this into consideration.

      I can say while this is done great and thoughtful in the prestation .. I disagree over the concept of ''unintended disrespect'' as one can only be direspesctful and the like knowingly.. But a person can be hurtful without the intent to be .. Because of the things stated you put.. because well one has to be aware of how they are disrespescting someone or in cases of concepts something.. .. But being hurtful they don't need to be aware of it

      It's a common tactic used by governments to drive away their own problems and make the people be just racist and xenophobic towards others. Same thing happened during the Cold War, where every Russian person in media was a spy or a villain. I live in Panama and through all Latin America, there's a huge xenophobic sentiment towards Venezuelans, and it has basically become a buzzword for many governments to say "Yeah we fucked up our country and our people are miserable, but at least we're not Venezuela / You can't trust that one political party, or they'll turn us into Venezuela"

      I remember being in a similar situation. I was seven when it happened and have absolutely no memory of that day; my parents had turned off the television and radio, while my Dad was fortunate enough to have his work flight canceled. All my memory of that day, was that it HAPPENED and the sudden aftermath of everything else over time. A newspaper article of a father hugging his daughter because he has to go to war. I didn't understand it, but it hit me emotionally every time. Even now, I still get bits and pieces about what had happened, and it's just as horrifying! While I'm grateful for my parents protecting me from what would've destroyed me emotionally and psychologically, I grew up realizing that ignorance isn't bliss, no matter what society is trying to teach us in that regard. 'Make sure to have your facts straight, before you come to a conclusion', is the advice my mom always gave me as a child and has stuck to me all this time. Throughout history, we see people being attacked because of their similarities to certain events. In WW2, Japanese Americans were forced into Concentration camps after what happened when Japanese Kamikazes hit the Hawaiians' naval base. Anyone with the Muslim religion or wearing certasin clothes is attacked because of terrorist groups on 911. Even today, Chinese Americans are being attacked simply because the Covid virus originated somewhere in China. History is constantly repeating itself because people are no longer seeing others as people, just someone to blame because of their genetic or religious origins. Just because we don't have all the facts, that some of us CHOOSE to live in ignorance I like what is said in the video. 'People are people, and you are going to find that there are those who don't see the same viewpoint as you, and there are going to be others willing to disrespect you and are more than willing to trashtalk you because they believe to be right.' As long as you can stand up for yourself, have your own ideals and morale and can stick to it, you'll be okay. Just make sure you look for and see the whole truth for what it is, and can accept it even when it contradicts what you see as a world view.

    As a Muslim American growing up, I grew up in a town where one of the most famous people is a horrid man named Patrick Syring who would send death threats to a lot of Muslim activists/politicians and even non-Muslim activists/politicians where he would telephone death threats most famously to James Zogby (who btw is a Christian Lebanese man) and James Abourzek (another Lebanese Christian) for “advocating for Muslims (even though their policies were just anti-iraq war or advocacy for Palestinians). I grew up in one of the biggest Lebanese-Muslim American places in the country and had to hear his apologists and even people who would stay stuff like of course it was the Muslims (this person I found out was actually someone I thought I was friends with). Around this time one of the oldest American mosques that was in my city was burnt down. Sad thing is the neoliberal people who would proclaim we are oppressed or needing of intervention were never their during that to offer any condolences. Just the occasional shaking of heads. I have been getting so much shit since the Taliban takeover to the point of depression. I can’t remember when people were this openly Islamaphobic even during the post-9/11 thing. It’s funny a lot of people were shocked over Christchurch but the shooters ideology which lead to it still survives in mainstream discourse. Under the guise Muslims will replace you and ruin civilization. Btw if you are going to comment any defense of any islamaphobes (I have been seeing “educated” people do that everywhere now) under my comment I will ignore it.Anyways this episode of Proud Family was always the closest I got to representation outside of Anwar from Skins. It always holds a special place in my heart. Side note this episode I remember on a late night rerun during Ramadan when I had to wake up to eat before starting fast again.

He told me that he has lots of family and friends from Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, etc and the vast majority of them wanted to get out of there because of the bullshit extremist stuff that goes on there. Back in the mid-2000's when my sister was in highschool, she told me about a legendary girl like Penny at her school who tried out for nearly all of the male exclusive sports teams in her high school. Some of the coaches on those teams didn't want a girl joining, so she took it all the way to the school board until they allowed her to play. I guess some of the contention wasn't outright saying that a girl was incapable of playing sports with boys, but that it would make some of the boys "uncomfortable" playing with a girl.

    One episode I related to was the one that focused on Michael after he was called a sissy. As someone who is openly gay now, growing up a lot guys would tend to point out that you weren’t as manly as they were, you would hang out with the girls and not be interested in sports. Obviously this doesn’t apply to all gay men or queer people in general but it is a stereotype that a good portion of the gay community aligns with. It’s fairly clear that they used “sissy” in place of the F slur because it’s Disney and a kids show. But Michael holds in how hurt he is by all the things people call him and it manifests in a very ugly way which I think is very accurate to how a lot of people in the LGBTQ+ community feel. Having to hide who you are because you’re afraid of what others think and being hurt by people close to you. It does make you feel like a monster

    The Proud Family was a great show. i did enjoy it for its: morals, lessons and wholesome moments. Penny is the definition of self respect, respect to others and a confidence. to me and some others i met, discrimination, racisms sexism doesn't exist. but it should be talked about because its a form of disrespect to others and mostly to the ones saying it. doesn't matter how different we are or where we or someone is from, they're a living person. true we don't know someone's life or culture us life without trying, you either experience or learn from others what they learned.
    even though today this still goes on and we show a lot of negative things, i think we just need to chill and talk it out. even times it won't happen, don't stoop or lower yourself to someone's else level and become life them. you either stay calm or walk away and let them think they won but in the end they know they lost, if they want to talk it over again but in a calmer way. my opinion is that we need to talk more then hate more. doesn't matter what skin, race, gender or even culture you are, we're all in this world TOGETHER no matter how hard it is and darkest of time. we should always remember that we are here alive for the right reasons to live, not for the wrong.

I distinctly remember the vandalism and I remember Hassan Minaj (i think his name is) experiences something similar during the 2000s. Proud family is ahead of its time and also timely for its time I guess haha. I really respected that it spoke up for everybody. Muslim people experienced a lot of hate in the early 2000s in America for obvious reasons. While the Muslim population is increasing here, the representation in our media is still lacking. I learned so much about Islam just from friends and social media. And while I’m no compelled to convert, I love learning and being more understanding to other people and religions outside of mine. Other religions and cultures are beautiful and ugly at the same time and it’s fascinating. As for the Proud family, of course black people are discriminated against and need more awareness on their issues, but I LOVE that the black people that made this show used THEIR voice and SHARED it. Not saying all black people have to do this but I have a lot of respect for this move and I would LOVE to do this. The only issue I have is when you use the phrase "your personal truth" because the truth isn't personal, it just is what it is. Semantics I know but I think the wording, especially when it comes to topics like this, is very important to get right.

    • @sardonicus1739
      @sardonicus1739 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I'd say truth is personal since no two people have the same truth. We are all biased subjective creatures, and to one person what's the absolute clear objective truth, to another person is a fantasy. To say that there is no personal truth is to say all truth is objective, rather than our subjective understanding of the world that we use the word truth to label things that make more sense to us personally as being the reality of the world. To say there's no personal truth is to deny that for most people what is true or not is subjective, and not based on objective reality.
      As an example, someone could say, "This cake is delicious." and the other person responds, "true." which for them is the truth, they find the cake great, yet for someone else that same cake might taste terrible so it isn't true for them. Making it the personal truth of the person who finds the cake delicious, but not everyones truth, as an example. To only focus on objective truth is to deny what most people actually mean when they say something is true. It denies subjective truths.

    2:09 we actually had two girls play football with us too, one a lineman and the other a running back. our coaches let it happen of course and not a single person gave them crap. what made them quit was nature. they were able to keep up from 7th grade to 9th, but it was around sophomore year where us guys were getting naturally stronger and hitting harder and they both plateaued. they were strong, no doubt, but they were at risk to legitimately get hurt so they quit. they were respected.

    I grew up just like your usual suburbanite, tiny town in Tennessee, overwhelming white, went to church with friends cause I was a jew, and my liberal parents wanted me to choose;
    I watched Proud Family when I was just a sheltered kid, so much offensive shit, and I said it.
    But penny gave me something inside
    And Zoey was the only one who looked like me.
    The thing that I felt inside was uncomfortable. I'm so glad that this show came on and I hope it inspired alot of people cause it sure inspired me.

    To this day, I still don't get why Coach Collins was so sexist

    I love your taste in music, from the Lauryn Hill, to the FOX NFL and NBA on NBC tunes, to the Sonic Unleashed tracks, to Michael Jackson... I just wanted to point it out. Great video too. God bless and Jesus loves you bro.

    As a massive aside...and I haven't scrolled far down enough to see if anyone else addressed this in the comments...great choice of background music starting at 3:29, approximately.
    Dang, where does one go to get a solo piano cover of Johnny Pearson's "Heavy Action", anyway?
    Tune that followed that also reminded me of televised pro football, but I don't know the original's composer or title.
    Great, thought-provoking video!

    The Proud Family premiered on September 15, 2001, just four days after 9/11.
    Which I find very eerie to me. 😖
