Burton’s Batman world is amazingly extravagant and some of the most nostalgic cinematography available. I’ll watch this on a Christmas Eve as it was meant to be enjoyed.
I love the fact that in Gotham all the villains and even the batman himself is broken inside which makes them complicated characters with good and bad sides.

Should really laud Tim Burton's direction in the movie. This scene, both literally and figuratively, had the Penguin rising out of the dark underground and onto the bright surface, revealing himself to the world. The shot at 1:26 shows it all. And the background score was just perfect. That's just, pure artistic genius direction on Burton's part.

The space available for Penguin to rise through the sewer hole always annoyed me. The light made it look like there was an overhang stopping the platform. I was also a very annoying kid.
Penguin doesn't get my sympathy. He was bad from the word go, turned the family cat into his snack when he was still a baby. And even though he was abandoned in the sewer, so were the penguins who took him in as one of their own and obviously loved him. And what did he do in return? Tried to turn them into suicide bombers. He could've won the people over as mayor as they were obviously inspired by his story. He could've done some good and abandoned his plan to kidnap and drown kids. It was a second chance. Instead he bit noses, groped boobs, murdered a bimbo and framed Batman. Oh, and he sabotaged the most awesome Batmobile of all time. He also had an entire circus acting as an instrument of his will, which seemed to be looting, plundering, and causing chaos and havoc. Boo hoo, they abandoned him, but he abused them and their loyalty. They even went along with his first-born son fiasco, and only ran away just as the missile-armed Penguins were coming home and Batman was about to crash the party. Even if he was kept and raised by his parents, I bet he would have become a corporate bastard like Shrek, playing the stinkin' city like a harp from hell. And even at the end, after all the madness he caused, you could tell the love of the penguins was unconditional and far more than he deserved or earned.

Kind of a shame. He was in a position to be accepted by society. They didn’t revile him or cast him away. Yes, you could say that it was because he saved the baby, but still. He was being recognized and accepted. If he had never had anything to do with the gang, whatever it was named, but was just living on his own in the sewer with the penguins, and had never wanted to kill the babies, but just wanted to be able to reveal himself, be accepted, and find out about his parents. Then, suppose the kidnapping of the mayor’s baby is really an attempted kidnapping by the gang, but then the Penguins arrives in the sewer and really does save the baby from the clown thug, and delivers it back like he did here. He could have been a good person, and an icon in the city.

I used to gag every time I looked at the Danny Devito penguin
Penguin doesn't get my sympathy. He was bad from the word go, turned the family cat into his snack when he was still a baby. And even though he was abandoned in the sewer, so were the penguins who took him in as one of their own and obviously loved him. And what did he do in return? Tried to turn them into suicide bombers. He could've won the people over as mayor as they were obviously inspired by his story. He could've done some good and abandoned his plan to kidnap and drown kids. It was a second chance. Instead he bit noses, groped boobs, murdered a bimbo and framed Batman. Oh, and he sabotaged the most awesome Batmobile of all time. He also had an entire circus acting as an instrument of his will, which seemed to be looting, plundering, and causing chaos and havoc. Boo hoo, they abandoned him, but he abused them and their loyalty. They even went along with his first-born son fiasco, and only ran away just as the missile-armed Penguins were coming home and Batman was about to crash the party. Even if he was kept and raised by his parents, I bet he would have become a corporate bastard like Shrek, playing the stinkin' city like a harp from hell. And even at the end, after all the madness he caused, you could tell the love of the penguins was unconditional and far more than he deserved or earned.
@Richard Clark See I think that Oswald had dirt on them. Enough to blackmail each one and send em to prison. Remember all the incriminating evidence he had on Shrek? I'm pretty sure that's how he kept the circus gang in check.
@@MelancoliaI Applause! That was so accurate. But, of course he ruined his second chance. His whole plan from the beginning (when he was lying to Shreck about finding his parents) was to murder children. He, and possibly his gang, had been stealing children long before his run for Mayor.

Why is Bruce immediately concerned and doubting penguin’s story. when he just showed his face to all Gotham for the first time in years. Even though Penguin was probably telling half the truth.

Kind of a shame. He was in a position to be accepted by society. They didn’t revile him or cast him away. Yes, you could say that it was because he saved the baby, but still. He was being recognized and accepted. If he had never had anything to do with the gang, whatever it was named, but was just living on his own in the sewer with the penguins, and had never wanted to kill the babies, but just wanted to be able to reveal himself, be accepted, and find out about his parents. Then, suppose the kidnapping of the mayor’s baby is really an attempted kidnapping by the gang, but then the Penguins arrives in the sewer and really does save the baby from the clown thug, and delivers it back like he did here. He could have been a good person, and an icon in the city.
