Ho boi after like... 9 months I finally got back to this animated piece, remade it, and finished it as planned! I hope y'alls like it. I had this WIP scripted out during the October/Halloween update and to basically sum up my thought process at the time of storyboarding was that, "What if it's actually both Home and Wally who leave their trails in the website? Except, Home is acting as Wally while Wally tries to stop/foil Home's agenda.". This animation is in relation to that theory and how I also wanted to portray the possibility that maybe both of these relevantly self-aware characters fall into the grayer areas and neither of them are fully in control or manipulative over the other :thumbsup: Psssttt! Came for the animation, it's breathtaking, I really like it ! And then, I saw your take on this... Holy hell, that'd make sense actually Oo. Remember all the beetles and "bugs" on the website ? We all thought it was Frank's doing (could still be !), but in the "Happy Haunting to Boo and Yours" audio, when it comes to Wally's story, he mentioned that the day before, he had seen a kite stuck in a tree, Barnaby practicing his tricks, and Eddie delivering mail to Poppy's house... And then he add that he almost forgot, he saw a bug standing on a leaf, which reminded him of Frank. He didn't see Frank himself, but he associates him with bugs, which were crawling all over the website, leaving only the Homepage untouched... HOMEpage. That's sus. Also, I noticed that in most audio, when there is a character who tends to be unresponsive due to Home's influence, Frank is often the first one to call out to them, interacting with them, and it usually works. The only time it doesn't is when Frank helps Eddie with the Bug Emergency, and when he asks "You're not scared of them, are you, Wally ?", the end is distorded. My opinion is that Home tries to act as Wally for whatever reason, and Wally and Frank are the only two aware of the situation and trying to stop it. But then, I might be overthinking XD.

THEORY THINKING. the idea that both are self-aware and acting against each other is such an interesting take that i can't recall seeing before. i haven't heard evelyn evelyn before but i really like the song, good choice. all in all, a masterful piece of welcome home that'll fuel my resurrecting hyperfixation for it

Added note is I can't help but to have the added thought that both of them can only express themselves in such limited ways. One having an ever present smile and struggles to show or understand emotions and the other being well...a house. The ooze feeling like such a physical form of both of their frustrations in this argument. Even sharing how they express this frustration as well as sharing everything else. Truly, Evelyn. ANYWAY!

I absolutely ADORE Evelyn Evelyn and am glad to have portrayed a grayer side of their dynamics (I used to make ones where Wally is the victim lol that was during the first big update last year in March). I think we have so much to learn with regards to not just these two's relationships with one another but also with the other neighbors. I remember once seeing a theory somewhere that Home represents an unhealthy home or family and that Wally's a member of that kind of home. And often in familial dynamics like this, no one person is really the source of the blame y'know? Every one of the members in that kind of dynamic has their own shit that they need to work on but are not facing it which in turn oozes out and affects the others like a vicious cycle. Unless it's an abusive one, but that's a different story. I think that was kinda the point I was thinking of when I was planning out the script for this piece last year. Anyway, ramble over! I love how you portrayed this. I can feel Wally’s frustration and pain even with that permanent smile he wears. Personal theory down below. I get the feeling that both Wally and Home became what they never wanted. Home didn’t want to be the bad guy and Wally didn’t want to be Home’s loyal puppet, spreading their control and hurting more and more people. I get the feeling that they might’ve been good friends at one point, they were family. Before they gained sentience. My head canon is when they realized they were literal puppets on a show, Home sought more control. The world had opened up to them, and they wanted all of it. No matter what it took. Wally just wanted to go back to how things were - painting and having fun with his friends, but the realization of his reality now affects everything he does (the glitches and seeming disassociation that happens in the bug videos/I understand the idea of Wally being autistic, I think my idea contributes to that; he already communicates differently from his neighbors and they struggle to understand him). He wants to go back, to forget, but Home won’t let him. Tl;dr Wally wants to be free, Home wants to have control.
I don't know why but this song and the animation is just... It just makes my heart sink in a way because the song makes it seem so real. The notes, the voices, the fighting, the animation itself!! Such a good theory, a good choice for music and a good choice for animation!!!

OH MY GOD! I was already so excited when I saw a Welcome Home animatic to a song I love so much, but then your art just blew me away! The way Home interacts with Wally, the body language, the expressions you pulled off on a character who's always smiling, the spinning?!?! and the idea of Wally and Home pushing and pulling against each other and Wally being almost resigned to it but still wanting out and Home clinging to him and insisting that it's just doing this out of some form of love.... SO GOOD!!!!
