    A very good haul in my book. Lots of very cool stuff. I think I have a brace with the wing nut. I don't have any info yet. Good stuff. I like the brass grease gun.

    Nice haul. I have the Zagray show coming up but, as usual my 25 year old GMC doesn't seem to want to go. I'll jack it up tomorrow to find the problem. There's a tool guy at Zagray who drops his tool table price to 25 cents each, towards the end of the day. The mystery thing is very interesting. Good Luck, Rick

      @@Everythings_Adjustable Yeah I have cut way back, but... today after changing the rear brakes on my daughter's van in the morning, my wife, my son and I went out yard saling because there were so many sales today. I struggled to find anything for a while, but eventually I picked two boxes of modern tools and junk for $16. Then at one other place with a cool old guy, I got a sweet old drill bit stand from the Cleveland Twist Drill company for $15. I don't usually spend so much for a single item, but I have been looking for something like it for so long I couldn't resist. I hope your "busy with life" stuff is all the good kind! Cheers! 👍😁😎

    Very nice haul and for 50 cents each you can't go wrong. The oil cans and grease gun are my favorites. All are in very good condition. I like the grease gun for its good condition and brass, and the good condition oil cans😊 because they aren't dented . Removing dents is the big challenge when restoring oil cans.

      Musical instrument restorers have unique and inexpensive ways and means of removing dents from brass wind instruments up to and including damaged horn bells.

    Ah, the inevitable grease gun! Nice haul there James, the second oil can is the spitting image of a typical Wesco oiler, dozens of which occupy my cupboard (well, maybe not dozens, but one or two). Not seen brace drill extension bars before, very interesting! All the best

      Hey Alex! The answer to the mystery tool is in the comments below from CalPilot. I will try to use it if I ever get my vintage Craftsman lathe up and running! Cheers! 👍😁😎

    The bracket is for mounting an electric motor to a table saw or other powered equipment. The weight of the motor will keep the V brlt tight. I have one, and they are in the 50's and 60's Sears tool catalogs. Extra brackets for multiple machines to share the same (expensivein the day) motor.

      Cooool! I was wanting to get my 1939 Craftsman lathe up and running and I was thinking about how to attach the motor. My atlas sander has the motor attached with hinges so the motor weight keeps the belt in tension, and I was thinking of using that concept on the lathe. Now I gotta find an image of how this is supposed to be set up. I am imagining how to do it, but I would rather do it how it was intended. THANKS FOR THE INFO! 😁👍😎😁👍😎😁👍😎

      I inherited a bench grinder from my Granddad in 1992 that was mounted with a pivot bracket that looks just like that. I used it that way for probably 20 years and finally just bolted the motor straight to the workbench. I recognized it in the thumbnail .That got me to click on this.

      @@brianzachary5618 Thank you for your comment. I hope you enjoyed the video. If so, check out some of my other tool haul videos. You are bound to see more old tools to spark memories and maybe you can enlighten me about some other mystery tools. Thanks for watching! :)

    Just curious did you ever find out what your mystery tool is?

    • @timeflysintheshop
      @timeflysintheshop  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @Dalesworkshop Yes. CalPilot had the answer. It is a mounting bracket for an electric motor. It allowed you to buy various pieces of equipment and only need one motor. You would use two of the ears on each piece of equipment and that allowed you to easily attach the motor.

    Great stuff at a great price. In my shop nothing attracts dirt and grime more than my oil cans! 🫣😂👍
