Hard to overstate how good of an interviewer and storyteller EAL (and team) is. This is a multi-year, multi-character story, spread across 2 states, and they are able to pull everything together beautifully into a 30-minute piece. Pretty incredible.
I love that he cares more about what the interviewees have to say than the sound of his own voice. He let the stories speak for themselves instead of making sure he was heard.
You got to appreciate people who dedicate themselves to projects like this. To a golf course most have never heard of, long gone, and made it so again.
My favorite episode yet! Had goosebumps the entire time. Cherry on top was when Peter brought out the hickory shafts for the first round played there in 81 years...
I have the pleasure of Working at Sand Valley as a caddie ...... I can say first hand how amazing it is to walk The Lido. It is like you are transported to a whole new world and time. The simplistic beauty of the course itself is astonishing. The lay out is great . When having the opportunity to walk the other golf courses on property then walking The Lido you really feel like you are in a totally different area and time. Just breath taking.
EAL - I grew up at current day Lido GC. Steve was our boss and mentor, I am so happy you included him in this piece. He truly loves Lido so much. The modern day Lido is such a special place. I can't wait to set foot on the rebuilt course and step back in time. Thanks for all the work you do highlighting these great golf stories! You should do an episode on modern day Lido someday -- full of characters and stories! Great work here!!
I had the good fortune to see Pete Flory's magic behind the scenes when this was still a dream...incredible to see Tom Doak and the Keiser Team bring it to life! Fantastic episode.
My favourite You Tube channel, literally, Adventures in Golf ( could be in celebrating golf) riveting and fascinating….times stands still, yet flies by. Thank you so much, again.
Wow! Thanks Erik for including the current Lido in your piece. Having worked there early in my career, no one was better to meet than Steve Rofrano. Can't wait to play The Lido!
We booked our SV trip a year ago and we all watched this video, eager anticipating the day we would step on the first tee. Boy was it special. Easily one of the most beautiful, challenging, walkable, historical representation of courses I've ever played. Never have I hit so many good shots that turned out to be not so great because of the challenging layout. Can't recommend this enough to any avid golfer as a must play.
The fact that the EAL team film in an aspect ratio that fills the entire phone screen when flipped onto it's side is a thing of beauty that no one else is doing and makes watching his vids even better
Pure brilliance……. I had goosebumps watching. Thank you Erik for taking us back in time while also showing us the new Lido. Steve R Lido Golf Club LI NY
As someone who has designed several courses digitally, I find this amazingly interesting and fascinating. To recreate an existing or preexisting course is incredibly difficult, and the amount of research, time, and effort required is insane. To do it for real is unbelievable. Great episode.
Having grown up on Long Island in the 60's & 70's, I immediately knew what the Lost Course was just from you intro. Wonderful piece. Thank you for sharing.
Erik, can’t believe you got a legend like Steve Rofrano on here. He’s a great guy and my first manager. We always wondered what the original course was like . Double Eagle 4 Life
The irony of The Lido having been called "The greatest course you'll never play", and now that it has been rebuilt and made private, might make it still the greatest course I will never play 😂
Recommendation for a future episode: In central Ohio there is a course called Moundbuilders CC. Built over and around ancient native American earthworks. One of a kind course currently in the midst of a legal battle. Historical society wants to shut the course down to protect the mounds. Would be an awesome watch.
Absolutely great piece. Got chills watching it and brought back great memories researching the old track while working with Steve for so many years at the Town course. Unbelievable job and thank you for your work on it!
I’ve been absolutely geeking about this course ever since I first heard it was being built, so happy you decided to do an AIG video on it. Thank you EAL!!
As a Wisconsinite who enjoys annual trips to Sand Valley - learning the history behind the Lido makes me so much more excited to try the course once their work is done. SV + MD are already gems here in the midwest, I can't wait to see what the Lido does to continue to entice people to the WI dunes :)
Possibly my favorite from EAL to date. Proper storytelling that weaves past and present together so perfectly. The course looked and now looks incredible. Such incredible history to discover.
Love “rumply” from Tom Dock ! What these guys have done in collaboration is a masterpiece. Although probably and highly ‘exclusive’ for mere normal golfers, to have done this project is brilliant collaboration from a number of diverse skill sets. Awesome.
While I doubt I'll ever be able to afford the opportunity to get up there (11-hours drive), I can vicariously enjoy this one via the web and much appreciate the work and vision put into restoration of things Historic. Well done everyone who worked on this project! I started in the the 80's and as far as I know at this point three of those courses no longer exist (nothing special any one of them). The very best one I ever played was redesigned by Jack, some say to make it easier, a couple decades ago--and I do plan to hit it again some day. It's only 4 hours in the opposite direction of Sand Valley.
I just can't imagine if the lido had closed maybe 10 years later. There'd probably be someone alive today who could re-live playing a course they played as a child. Not saying it's impossible.. but you'd have to find a 90 year old who happened to play golf when they were younger than 10, in the 40's- who's still playing today lol
Wow, so unbelievably cool. Golf and its history, the stories are so ever present every time you step on a golf course, but recreating a course like this bringing back history and getting to play it first is Jurassic Park like 😊awesome. Great film EAL and team.
It's open for resort play 5 days per week for 4 hours per day. So, about 1,600 public players per month will play it. That's more play than it gets on the private side.
with all these turmoils are happening in the world, Adventure in Golf is such a joy for me, Great work EAL, you should come to VN and I’ll take you to a very special golf course.
Seeing courses like this make you wonder how ordinary players can get around, seeing water everywhere, narrow fairways and those huge bunkers where you can't possibly see the green and hole, makes me wonder if it's all just good luck rather than skill. Having said that the beauty of this course is amazing.
If there was ever a peak to your adventures, this will sure be hard to beat. Congratulations Erik, but also thank Frankie from barstool for giving them this idea. 🤣
You got to be the first to play a brand new (Old) golf course with Tom Doak the architect!! And the other key members that made the vision of Recreating The Lido a reality. That is so cool. I have watched a lot of your videos and this had to be your best experience ever!! Once in a lifetime experience!!
This is my hope for the future of design. To be able to use these online programs as a designer to make the course exactly how you want to, be able to play test it and present it to the boards in a visual way before construction. Being able to take the lidar info from the game and apply it to GPS's so we can properly build the course is the next step. Coming from someone who has used the program he build this on there is so much potential for something great here, it just needs to be streamlined.
Great story of the Lido, I have been working at the new Lido golf course, for the past five years. I always wondered and heard about the stories, of the old Lido. When I started working there I did a little research to find out about it. What’s interesting it is a little part is left, in front of Long Beach high school. Part of the pond that was the fourth hole called the channel hole is still there. I hope next year I can get a group of people who play the TOH Lido for many years to come out, and play the resurrected Lido. Good to see, my coworker Steve representing the new Lido and it’s storied past.
Hard to overstate how good of an interviewer and storyteller EAL (and team) is. This is a multi-year, multi-character story, spread across 2 states, and they are able to pull everything together beautifully into a 30-minute piece. Pretty incredible.
EAL is living all of our dreams. Maybe it’s the flowing locks….I’m hoping he stopped up to Homestead to get a quick 9 in 15 minutes up the road. 💪🏼💪🏼
I love that he cares more about what the interviewees have to say than the sound of his own voice. He let the stories speak for themselves instead of making sure he was heard.

Still the best golf page on YT imo because of content like this

The ending was the best. Looking over his shoulder knowing he was 1 of 4 to do something very special. I enjoyed this video. Thank you.
This is special! Great job EAL and Skratch.

Steve - Mayor of Lido! Happy for you my friend!! You deserve your own episode!
I don’t know the current state of your game Eric but sports journalism-wise you’ve been crushing it! Thanks for another great story…

Make a reservation. You just have to book ahead.
It's not private lol. Anyone can go to Sand Valley
That little scene switch he does with the snap of his finger is so masterful
Greatest episode of them all. The History. The Design. Technology. Adams County turning it up in the golf game 👀👀
Spectacular episode. As good as the course and the project demanded. Well done, team!!
EAL….That was priceless. I learned how to play golf on the current Lido Course 30 + years ago, you brought all those memories back. Bless you 😊

Now this is ADVENTURES IN GOLF. A wonderful yarn, gotta be one of the best ep.
Absolutely great piece. Got chills watching it and brought back great memories researching the old track while working with Steve for so many years at the Town course. Unbelievable job and thank you for your work on it!

As I'm a long islander and golf superintendent, I cant wait to get out and experience this design masterpiece of yesteryear

Playing this on the simulator is an incredible experience. Playing this in real life would be out of this world!
This so interesting and amazing that people could recreate this course at such accuracy.

Fantastic story, beautifully told, and loved seeing the joy in Erik’s face after the round.
One of my favorite Adventures in Golf videos ever, Love it
Thank you, this was great. What a fun project. Totally agree with MKjr that the saddest day is opening day.
That was actually historic! Congratulations to all of those involved! I am definitely going to play it!

what an awesome vlog/interview and to be honored to play the first round on this historic course is incomparable
It was like watching a golf fairy tale come true!!
This show has singlehandedly converted me from a Delta fan to a United fan. Thank you United for making this happen!!
Im just glad to know this gem will be private! so stoked for that.
It's open for resort play 5 days per week for 4 hours per day. So, about 1,600 public players per month will play it. That's more play than it gets on the private side.
👏👏👏 wonderful Erik! Congrats to all. Phenomenal.
Let’s gooo, love a Wisconsin episode. Cheers
Again... I'm glad you are on TH-cam, but you deserve to be on Netflix.
with all these turmoils are happening in the world, Adventure in Golf is such a joy for me, Great work EAL, you should come to VN and I’ll take you to a very special golf course.
What a tremendous video and story. Thank you
Best Adventures in Golf yet! Going up to SV in May hoping to get on this awesome course
Watching this felt like the fastest 30 minutes I’ve ever spent on TH-cam
I live here and had no idea how important this course was. It is an honor the Lido calls Wisconsin home.

Awesome video. Cobb's Creek is being restored in Philadelphia, another very interesting story
About time the long videos are back ! I live for these !
It was really cool seeing this course be built in the video game. Even cooler to see it realized in real life.
What an amazingly well done video. Thank you for bringing this together and telling the story. I am a golf nerd and I really enjoyed it. :)
the scope of this project and the tech they used is amazing

Thanks for a great introduction to a classic course. Can’t wait to return to Sand Valley.
Best AIG I've seen yet. Absolutely incredible storytelling!
Perfect Episode. Inspiring Beyond Words. Thank you for crafting a masterpiece.
Fantastic. What an experience.
Love watching these vids during our cold winter here in canada !
Loved this, makes me happy that people like this do what they do 👏🏻👏🏻
Another amazing story and episode, thank you Erik
Absolutely beautiful!
What an amazing story and course that I will unfortunately probably never be able to play.
What an honor for you Eric, pretty cool stuff!
You know, this series is awesome, but can't get terribly excited about something so cool that will only be private for the elites.
Amazing job! Amazing place to play a round of golf!! I’ll be trying to book a room as soon as possible
F**kin’ amazing. Up there with the Miura drop. Well done for the best you tube video of the year.
Holy jeezus. That was awesome.
Pretty cool. I'd love to see this course added to the Golf+ game on the Quest 2 so I can play it in VR.
AHHHH THE BEST SURPRISE IS WHEN YOU OPEM TH-cam AND THERES ANOTHER ERIC VIDEOOO

Man I love these videos, best content around Erik is involved. I would love to be apart of your breaking series.
What. An. Honor. ❤. Incredible
This is one of the best episodes you guys have ever produced!
Fascinating - thanks.
I had the privilege to play 9 holes here this summer. Great course
Outstanding. Everything EAL does is memorizing
Great episode!! Can't wait to see it!!

Great production quality and an interesting back story.
Nee Bucket List Course. Never been this excited for a new course.
I live in Long Beach and play Lido all the time, but never knew this! Very cool, man.
Fabulous video loved it. Wish there was more like it if it’s even possible.
This is amazing. I would love to play here one day!
So cool they rebuilt the course to the tee
Fascinating, amazing, story.
Great segment
WOW just wow! Amazing video
Great material, fantastic story. Can’t figure out why you don’t have 1M subscribers
The drone shots of this course are breathtaking
Beautiful.
This is just amazing
I'm too poor to ever get a chance to play The Lido, but I'm glad it exists.
So good. Thanks EAL
wow just WOW!
