My first and FAILED!! attempt using coloured pencils to make a Christmas Tree ornament.#woodturning #crafts #jigs nexing Jig • How to make a woodturn...
Interesting I believe that would work. I 'd like to try Impact adhesive and/or OB1 clear sealant and adhesive first, because of the large area I need to cover, which could prove expensive with the more reliable glues and resins. Thanks for your input.
Need to remove all the paint off the pencils before gluing. The glue doesn't adhere well to the paint. Also may want to try using a little smaller forstner bit. Hope you have better results next time.
Yes your right. In Fact there are unpainted coloured pencils available although more expensive. I wanted to avoid that though as the paint leaves an attractive coloured outline to the appearance. I wanted to avoid epoxy resin due to the expenses involved on large turnings. In my later video I had to accept that immersing in resin is the only practical solution. However epoxy glue is fine for small objects and fast to.
I've tried something similar, with the same results. I'm tempted to try UV resin as it dries reasonably quickly, and I don't need a pressure pot.
