    Thanks for the video! It was packed full of very useful information. I am in the process of setting up a small mining farm at home. I did do research but I still need help.
    Please help answer the below questions:
    -with PDU being hard to source and expensive, why not just have an electrician setup 240v outlets for each KD5?
    -for tax write off, is there a way to keep track of the electricity cost for miners, fans, AC, and other mining operation electricity cost? Separate home usage from personal without installing a new meter.
    -I am interested in the KD6, if you can help with the preorder that would be great.
    Thanks again!

    • @minutemanprep
      @minutemanprep  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You absolutley can have your electrician just put in 240v plugs that work directly with each miner. There is nothing wrong with that. I didn't know that option at the time and though I needed a PDU for sure. I think the hardest part is getting the actual plug that fits properly with your machine installed since it's not a USA plug. But if you can find that, and have your electrician install those, you're golden. No PDU needed.
      For tax write off, you can put a meter on the circuits or panel you're mining off of and submit the total cost of electricity on your taxes as a business expense. ANYTHING you use to use for the business can be written off. BUT, make sure you have an LLC for that.
      I can help you preorder a KD6. Shoot me an email at minutemanprep@gmail.com

    I looked into this a few months ago. It seemed to me that the cost of the electricity required to run the miners 24/7 would offset the amount of crypto mined. Does it take 2-3 miners to get to a point where you create more money than you spend to operate them?

    • @minutemanprep
      @minutemanprep  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      If the unit is only making $10 a day and it costs $10 to run the unit in electricity then your net is $0. But if the machine makes $200 a day and your electrical costs are $7 a day then obviously the $7 is absolutely worth it. That is one of the reasons I went with Kadena mining not Bitcoin mining because Kadena makes 10x per miner compared to Bitcoin miners. The fact that everyone says "the electrical costs make it unprofitable" means they haven't researched it because that only applies to old units that are a couple of years old or more and newer units can produce more now which make them profitable. An average new bitcoin miner will make $20/day after electrical costs right now. Just use AsicMinerValue.Com and you can see how it all works out.

      There are several benefits. First off the bitcoin you mine is not KYC. As long as you don't shove it in a KYC wallet. Second most small farms only run during nonpeak hours as usually the electricity is cheaper during those times. You should be able to go online and with a little digging find out what your electrical company sells for during different times of day. Aldo you can use renewables to power them during times when those sources are available.

    Very cool Ben...now, how to power this with a Titan system. What would the Titan system look like to be "cost free", or get your ROI quicker. Look forward on your follow up video of how to get started with crypto mining...I'm game...will start my research now while I wait.

    • @minutemanprep
      @minutemanprep  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha that'd be nice. Each one of these units use 2,300w to run and it's 240v power. It consumes 55,200 watt-hours of power per day which is equal to 28 Titan batteries. So you can see it's not really viable to make these run off of ANY solar system unless the solar system itself is a huge field of solar panels. But the mere fact it's making money that can be used to earn money back to pay for a Titan.

    What is the best asic to buy as first asic if i already have the outlets setup? Order from Goldshell ? Somewhere else?

    • @minutemanprep
      @minutemanprep  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ideally you want to order from Goldshell but that's next to impossible. They sell out on their website literally within seconds. You'd have to pay people to watch the site 24 hours non-stop to try and catch when they're in stock and still there's a chance they're sold out by the time you get through the checkout process. That's how much people want Goldshell units. I'm a dealer if you're intersted I can give you my pricing. Or check eBay as well, keep in mind any price you pay for a crypto miner on eBay they'll add 10% tax to it. So a $10,000 unit you'll actually pay $11,000. Fans don't put out their reported CFMs in every situation. It depends on how much resistance there is. Those numbers are generally with no resistance at all. As a general rule you need twice as much surface area on your passive intakes as you have of active fan exhaust ports area. I doubt you do.

  • @JorgeEstebann

    How did you determine the CFM for each miner. I am tryin to figure out how much that is for an iBelink K1+

    • @minutemanprep
      @minutemanprep  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found the specs online but pretty much all the ASIC fans are about the same CFM ranging from 200 to 250CFM per fan. A front fan and a back fan work together to move 250cfm through the machine. So since my KD5s have two fans on the back and two fans on the front, it is moving upwards of 500 CFM per machine.

    I want to start a crypto mining farm in a warehouse what sort of electrical things do I need to get to get set up like 240 volt outletand how many transformers may I need and pdu?? As I have 10000 10 socket extension lead plugs let me know with some information would be great??

    • @minutemanprep
      @minutemanprep  ปีที่แล้ว

      240 outlets. You need to know how many amps each miner you're going to use. Do not exceed 80% of the amp rating on each outlet. Example, if you have two miners, each uses 15a, and you have a 240v 30a outlet with a PDU attached to it, that would be 100% of the capacity of the outlet and that's a severe fire hazard. Do not exceed 24 amps of continuous output from a 30a outlet, that's the 80% rule. Do not exceed 80% on the entire electrical panel. You'll need PDU for each miner or possibly 2 miners per PDU depending on power draw. Filtration is the biggest thing after heat dissipation. Make sure you can get the heat off of the miners to keep them running. If you have really good air flow, and good air filtration, and do not exceed 80% of the power draw you're all good.

    Are you going to be adding any other asics when you build out the racks? BTC miners?

    • @minutemanprep
      @minutemanprep  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      As of right now no. I will be adding more KD5s or KD6s to my Mine but simply put, I can make more money with KDA than BTC. If you think about it, a BTC miner makes roughly $20 USD/day. A KD5 makes about $200 USD/Day. If I wanted to, I could take my KD5, sell the KDA mined for the day for $200, then buy $200 worth of BTC which is 10x more than I could've mined directly with a BTC miner.

I still truly believe it will be a top 10 coin in the next couple of years and in the meantime it's still the #1 most profitable mining anyway. I have a Goldshell KD5 enroute. My first miner any suggestions on powering it from standard 120v house.

    • @minutemanprep
      @minutemanprep  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't. Seriously, it's not safe. A normal house outlet is capable of running up to 1,800 watts continuously and the max, generally best to stay below 1,500 watts. The KD5 uses 2,300 watts. Not only will your outlet not be capable of running it regardless because it will just pop the breaker, but secondly that is the fastest way to burn down your house. Not trying to be dramatic, but it is not unheard of for people to try to do that and cause electrical fires. Simply put, the wires and outlet at 120v in houses in the USA cannot handle that much electricity and will catch on fire.
      You need to call a local electrician, have them install a 240v plus that is either 20 amps or 30 amps. You can run 1 KD5 on a single 20amp plug or up to two KD5s on a single 30 amp plug. I chose to have the L6-30Rs installed because the PDUs (Power Distribution Units) I use have L6-30P plugs on them. (P is for Plug and R is for Receptacle).
      The plug that comes with your KD5 will very likely not be L6-30P. It will typically be a GB2099 plug. If you're going to plug the KD5 directly into the outlet then you'll want to wait unti you have it in hand, have your electrician come over, look at the plug, and then install the correct one because it's not a common plug.
      If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy your KD5 and for about how much?
