a couple of comments saying this record is slow don't understand how good the group of Australian women are at the moment or what it takes to get a team to this level. Add Titmus to the team and it will be a couple of seconds faster, but I'm not sure we'll see McKeon swim it again.
Imma call it early here and say we’ll see this record drop at least 10-15 more seconds in the next generation. General level of freestyle here is not as high as it could be by any stretch.
Lots of room left to run on this WR. The incredible Aussie women were swimming a somewhat compromised quartet missing some of their best swimmers. The US was missing the three fastest legs of the quartet who won the gold at the LC version of the World Champs earlier in 2022, the one swimmer here from that team (Smith) had a weirdly awful swim here. Relay world records in SCM have always been a bit questionable.
That WR is still soft. Consider that the individual even WR is 1:50.31 by the girl from HK and she's not even the fastest at that distance in LC. That would be Ariarne Titmus. I'm certain Titmus could go 1:49 if she trained for this. A 1:52.7 average is at least 3 seconds slower than what the individual WR should be. It's really like a 1:56 flat average on the LC pool, which is a 7:44 for the relay LC - that's 5 seconds slower than the 7:39 WR. So, yeah, this even should get down to 7:25 and even lower.

Congratulations that was an awesome effort by the Australian team 👍😊
It is crazy how strong Australian relay teams are! Congratulations!!
Australia, what a team!
Australia crushed the wr without using two of their best 200m swimmers mckeon and titmus ( both have been 1:51 scm )
Exactly. That would have automatically reduced the overall time another 3 to 4 seconds. The WR is still soft here.
Not sure McKeon will swim the 4x2 again.

You girls are awesome,...when you beat the World Record by a couple of days then you need to celebrate lol!
Congratulations Australia
OMG 😮😮😮 how come they did the WR without Mckeon and Titmus??? Only Molly is a star here still... How great...
