Love Kurt for the countless hours of entertainment he's given us. One of those entertainers who you look back on and could argue helped to save your life -- that whole era was just awesome. Was great hearing from Brian, can't wait for that audio book.
I like how Brian directly addressed the concerns many fans have with writers. Writers don't want a wrestler to read "word for word" from a script. Instead, it's better to be collaborative and work with the writer. The WWE doesn't want non-fans in creative. It's actually better if you have a good grasp of the WWE and know what the Royal Rumble is. That's solid advice right there. Thank you Kurt and Paul for this interview!
This has been one of the most entertaining podcasts I've ever listened to! You can feel the chemistry between Kurt and Brian, there's a real friendship there with the two. Kudos to everyone for this episode!
As a writer myself, I really enjoyed this interview, and I think one of my big takeaways is the need for character driven and plot driven writers. One person who focuses more on the characters, and the other who focuses more on story. Brian Gewirtz strikes me as a character driven writer, and I think that's often where wrestling shines the most. Let the characters be showcased, and the stories will write themselves.
Gosh when I was younger I was terrified of Angle because I always was afraid he would break someone's ankle when the Ankle Lock would get locked it. What a time to become a fan in mid 2002. Angle has always been one of my favorite professional wrestlers ever since then. Thanks for the memories.
Whats crazy is as a fan, we really didn’t even hear his name or know who he was until his tenure was almost over and only after did we realize that he was responsible for a lot of our favorite moments. he started there just after I graduated high school and kept the boom period Going a lot longer.
How else can McMahon claim to be the sole creative force if you know who is really doing the job? Vince is not good at writing. He's good at finding and exploiting talent. So much so, many former top guys talk like vkm is their surrogate dad. Vkm fosters that environment. That's why he has a heat taker guy in talent relations so everybody blames that guy instead of Vince. I have no doubt Vince is a dark triad personality.
This guy is responsible for a lot of great moments and wrote during my favorite time to be a fan. Hes a big reason Rock was so popular too as he wrote and still does I believe all of Rock's promos. Gewirtz has a great sense of humor and it shows in his writing. The WWF in 2000 to 2002 was pretty hilarious. The comedy wasn't over the top either, there was a good balance between action and comedy. Not sure what happened since then. But this dude for sure is up there with Russo as far as writing compelling tv. Great interview! Kurt is the man. It's TRUE its true!
I just listened to Brian Gewirtz interview with Ariel Helwani. I think this guy is so interesting. When you see him you dont imagine a guy like him in the trenches with the McMahons especially when it was transitioning into a legit publicly traded powerhouse from a independent family business. I could listen to Brian talk about his WWE experience for hours. You cant help but put yourself in his shoes for 16 years dealing directly with Vince day in and day out. The range of emotions had to be intense and sporadic as well as needing to have patience and resolve. Its unbelievable.
Just heard the same interview as well. Definitely agree, Brian Gewirtz doesn't look it, but here's a guy who was with Vince McMahon for that many years, working that schedule and dealing with Vince's mentality. Huge respect to Brian for his contributions to the WWE.

However, based on previous years and potential storylines, here is a possible card for WrestleMania 40: Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. The Rock WWE Championship Match: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Seth Rollins RAW Women's Championship Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Ronda Rousey SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Sasha Banks (c) vs. Bayley Intercontinental Championship Match: Finn Balor (c) vs. Kevin Owens United States Championship Match: Keith Lee (c) vs. AJ Styles RAW Tag Team Championship Match: The Street Profits (c) vs. The New Day SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos (c) vs. The Hardy Boyz Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Women's Battle Royal Note that this is just speculation and not an official card. The actual card for WrestleMania 40 may differ significantly from this.
Is Conrad done hosting these because that would be fantastic. So tired of his Mr Garrison voice and always finishing the guests’ sentences. And laughing like a maniac every time the guest says something relatively funny
Why was Kurt Angle so offended by the ECW crucifixion of the Sandman, but ok with WWE doing the exact same thing to the Undertaker? He sure didn't run out of the building there. Is money worth more than values Kurt? Pretty hypocritical.

Love hearing Kurt laugh so much

I suddenly have the urge to check out Geico insurance...
HBK/Y2J - thank you, Brian. That fued could have easily been missed.
The pace of Batista’s turn made it work.

Brian doesn't know that he has missed some awesome Flash comics since Crisis on Infinite Earth. That was a great jumping on point and he jumped off!
Fucking hell this is gold🤣🤣
Great episode Brian Gewirtz seems like a pretty cool guy. Also shut up Paul we know about Geico already lol.

Luv ur vids
this jabroni paul seems more interested in Geico insurance more than paying attention to the guest SMH
It's his job, jabroni!
@@Rschr101 no, his job is to make sure the guests have a great time and to follow instructions, I feel like these guys Paul and Conrad are scamming
Even Brian wanted booker t to beat triple h. The argument against it was dumb . Who cares if there was already a title change
Everybody besides Hunter wanted Booker to win that stupid feud.
I want my push lol
Bob holly - I gots u mtv idea- i win da belt then i bet everybody
Great ideal!🤣

It's no wonder they thought he was a kid. The guy is 40+ here, and looks like a slightly tired college student.
