I became very excited when i heard 2 fish and 7 loaves of bread, thats enough to feed my 12 mates at my going away party, well 11 mates and one I'm still undecided about!! Your JM collection was enjoyable to see and the garden planting looks beautiful Tony. Expensive tree's here down under and unfortunately i lost a JM years ago due to hot winds. I'm nurvous to try again...i need to build a greenhouse first. Thank you both for the tour. Best wishes🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞🐟🐟

What a kaleidoscope of colour and variety!! These trees seem to provide interest in all the seasons - your garden must just explode in spring, but summer and fall have to be equally gorgeous. Who needs to pay money to go to fancy gardens when you have one in your own backyard!
love the Maples Tony! 🏆 Thar replacement Tree they sent you has a veeery Elegant look to it🥰 Deshojo's have always been my favorote(s)😍 That Deep color, has always Mesmerized me😳🥰🍁😍 😆 Peter Chan has one that's freakin' Amazing color on it😍 Do you haveto protect them some? in this Summer HEAT??🔥 Well, Enjoy the day Tony!! ✌🏽
Hi Nerina. Yeah it's crazy in the spring and autumn they almost give them away you'll have to get some seeds planted. They should stratify naturally outdoors in Austria
i been taking cutting off a friends 30/40 year old benchidori this summer. took a few seedlings already a year or 2 from the base too. its the biggest jm ive seen around my area so far. almost as big as the native maples(north east us). actually just went back and took more cuttings for my aeroponic clone machine. just a small 24 site aero cloner but they work so fast and well. thanks tony. its a amazing collection you have. some of everything
Thanks John. When it's in a shallower pot in a couple of years time, I think the flare at the base of the trunk will really develop a😢 as you say, it's going to look pretty special I think. Also my dad's more than competent when it comes to Japanese maples, so he'll make good decisions when it comes to the structure of the winter image
Yeah I think that original one has the potential to be a really stunning Bonsai in a few years. Definitely one I'll get my dad to update on in the spring!
Can't get enough of JMs' beauty. You encouraged me to air layer pencil size JMs, (which failed the very first time lol), but I've got a plenty super small successful air layers from last years attempts.
@@TonysBonsai I have a tray full of them that probably need separating out at some point. With growing seeds I often get this far then they get neglected and overlooked.
Yeah, sounds like you need to get them separated mate. There are a couple of lovely orange leaved varieties in there which are going to look really nice as they develop
I missed this one earlier. My maples always disappoint, but I do have 2 healthy and very leggy Trident Maples (one is a clone of the other) that I need to figure out what to do with. Nice update video.
Lovely selection Tony. I too love maples and have a couple of unusual ones such as Shiraz and Shishigashira. The Shishi air layers very easily, I have lost a couple of trees due to vine weevils. Apart from driving people nuts I can't see what purpose they serve in life. Well done on keeping the tree alive mate. A great video.
Cheers Mick I bought two shishigashira myself but only one made it through the first year in the ground. The live one seems to be doing pretty well now though. I think I saw Corin air layering a huge one at some point. Hopefully you'll be able to get some nice stock from yours
You did a good job saving the tree! You've got some lovely ones there, and they're looking great. My cousin has a tree that seems to self sow with great success, so I've got a few of them, just ordinary Acer Japonica, but after seeing yours, I'll have to have a look round the nurseries for something a bit special. That was a lovely video! 😊
Cheers buddy. Definitely worth picking up the odd interesting variety if you can, however those mountain maples should have some naturally occurring differences and I'd be itching to use them in a forest
Anybody can see how happy this tree is about you have made it survive. Lovely. The beauty of Japanese maples is their variety and the gorgeous colours, they present through the year. Thank you so much for sharing Tony and Tony’s dad (what is your name, by the way?) Enjoyed as always 🙏 Enjoy your day 😘 Cheers, Martina 🙋♀️
i only have the one japanese maple but maples are definitely my favorite species right now. great collection, i remember some of the ones you planted a couple months ago but i forgot that little orange one too!
Lovely tree that Tony. I’m lucky Iv never had vine weevils in any of my trees Iv bought in. I do check tho ever since I saw your other video’s where u first come across the critters !
That's good news! I treated all my trees with nematodes this year and I've not seen a sign of any adults, so hopefully my garden is free from them like yours
Great to see those trees. Many of those I've never seen in Japan. You mentioned Preston in a previous video, but I'm not sure if you're near there. I grew up in Chorley. 😄
i walk through the tree nurseries abd take cuttings lol. proplifting i call it. and its not really stealing. 200 is a lot for me too. nice trees tho tony

Just love them. Lovely delicate leaves and vibrant colours 🙂
Great mix of maples... hopefully some
More great colours in autumn
Yeah they should be looking very nice in another month, and I'm especially keen on seeing my kataura trees and the sweetgum
Cant not beat the sea of colour's the acers have. Slice out of heaven Its just fantastic.
Yeah, nothing can touch them for colour and variation
Love the Maples Tony, the first one may turn out to be the best!!!
I agree Nigel. As the New radial roots develop I think the trunk will flare out very nicely

I find them very relaxing trees to prune, so they never feel like work. Im itching to get round to prune the ones in the ground at my parents
The tree looks healthy Tony! Love all of the Japanese maples. They all are beautiful specimens.
Thanks Raymond. It's been a really good year for maples. I normally get some wind scorch
Great video Tony 👍👍

Great adventures in maples, my interest waned when my katsura died! Ɓut I do have a beautiful emerald lace one. Keep growing.xx
Get back to them Mandy. Losing maples is par for the course, but they're so beautiful it's a crime not to have at least a couple

Love your collection of maples. Funny how sometimes the critters and pests make relatively good choices for us in bonsai! 😂
Indeed, although we're lucky over here that we don't really get many problems in the winter with critters under the snow
Got to love the Japanese maples and like you Tony I’ve managed to pick up quite a few ‘bargain basement’ trees in supermarkets and B&Q.
Yeah in the autumn there are often some good bargains to be had as they clear out the summer stock

Nice examples Tony, you must have hundreds.
Yeah it's hard for me not to collect them I find. I see one in a video and the next thing I'm+1 Acer 🤣
