Do you know why chicken coops have two doors? If they had four doors it would be a chicken sedan. 👏hope this brings a smile to everyone. 🙏

Only recently came across your videos when laid up for a week with a minor health matter. Have since been able to get a 25 years old Honda line trimmer, a Ryobi Brush cutter and a chainsaw going and almost fixed a 25 years old ride on that had fuel gushing through the muffler. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, experience and tips. Re: chickens. Unlikely you will need to separate a rooster from the girls. You don't need a rooster for the hens to lay but I have always felt the chickens lay a little better with one. Also, if a fox does attack the hens the rooster will defend them but usually at the cost of his life. Hens use a lot of energy to produce eggs and should start laying at about 23 or 24 weeks so a good 17.5% protein feed is a good minimum guideline. The extra run extension might be useful to have some green feed sown for the birds to scratch although they will decimate it fairly quickly. They only need about 2 or 3 hours a day scratching around although my birds are free range from around 8.00 to 5.00 pm in summer and a little less in winter. Best wishes for the chooks. Just another thought about poultry, 3 or 4 ducks will provide more eggs than chickens and with your vegie garden, the ducks will rarely damage plants but are great for pest control. An old timer reckoned that you don't have a snail problem you have an under supply of ducks. Enjoy your gardens and poultry & thanks again for the small motors education.

I was in a Biltema store in Steinkjer, Norway and I walked past a walk behind mower and noticed that the gas cap was missing, apparently dishonesty is a universal human trait. Naturally I thought about this video..
Biltema is a Swedish chain of stores, they have stores in Sweden, Norway and Finland.. Not sure what would be a US equivalent, but the sell products in the car, mc, boat, care care products, home & leisure, Tools/power tools and building/construction supplies.. all of their products are in the private label category.

For example, the cage lock combinations are a freaking joke, and the mambas, frogs, and turtles are super easy to defeat. It was so frustrating.

Chicken feed tip. Get a feeder with a treadle step that allows the hens to gain access to the feed and closes when they step off the treadle. Split feed attracts mice, mice attract rat snakes and the snakes also eat eggs.

I loved the birds and the eggs they offered.

2 weeks ago, decided to help my 85 year old mother set up a few tomato plants in containers. Went to Tractor Supply, picked up four 5 gallon buckets, two 2 cubic foot bags of Miracle Gro Potting Mix and some of their Tomato Food fertilizer, and four tomato plants - two Best Boys, one Beefsteak, and one Dark Cherry.
Took the buckets, drilled four 3/8" drain holes around the bottom of each, and added approximately 2 inches of pea gravel in the bottom for drainage. Then filled each one close to the top with the potting mix, with the tomato food fertilizer mixed in, and set the plants in them. Only been adding water when the top of the potting mix started to look dry.
In only twelve days, those plants have went from 6 inches tall to nearly 2 foot! They're growing so fast, you can literally see the difference in height from morning to evening. My mother said, in all her days, she's never seen tomato plants grow that fast.
Those plants came from a local nursery. They must have some pretty good stock, for those plants to take off like that, fertilizer and potting mix notwithstanding.
We saved the cups that the plants came in, and now my mother is using them to see if she can get some of her old cucumber seeds to start growing.
I may need a LOT more 5 gallon buckets.....

I dig a hole with a post hole digger, put one shovel of the mix in the hole and then the tomato plant. My plants are over 4 feet tall as of July 10th. I’ve been doing this for probably 45 years and my ground is like gold now.

You might be overthinking your chicken coop but it is impressive. Chickens like to roost at night so a couple of pine 2x1” boards attached end to end would do the trick. You’ll be constantly cleaning droppings from underneath so some sort of portable tray underneath that you can move or once a week or so will make your life easier. We have a lot of problems with foxes, which is heart breaking when you loose your lovely chickens do be thorough with the fox proofing. Good luck

I was going to ask about perches and nest boxes too. Wondering what you plan to do. They like to roost on perches at night up off the floor. I made nest boxes accessible from small hatches/doors outside the coop so I didn’t have to always go inside to collect eggs. Not sure if that is feasible but makes it easier to collect eggs. I also used a “deep litter system” when I raised chickens and it worked great. I had to top off the litter as it breaks down and compacts over time. I usually changed out the litter for all new twice per year and used it in the garden compost. Best of luck. The chicks look really healthy.

I would like to nominate the CJ6 spark plug for most stolen part. Needed one for my blower. Parts store was out so drove across town to Agi Supply. Their website said they had 8 of them in stock. Their computers said they had 8 in stock. But 0 at store. They leave them out so customers probably lifted them all. They said it looked like someone took them all. Told them I wasn't surprised since it was a popular model sold at places like Lowes and Walmart. Luckily tractor supply had Stens that would work. This was for a mitsubishi blower I think you did video on. The plug has to be CJ6, others close to it are too long and will damage engine. Need to check plug before changing them.

The air filter on the parts list, is just the round cylindrical air filter by itself, that press fits onto the intake manifold under the engine cover.
However, I found out that Briggs also makes a "kit", under a different part number, that uses the exact same air filter, but also includes one of those green foam slip-on dust filters with it.
And I found both the air filter by itself, and the "kit" with the green dust cover, sitting side by side on the same shelf at Lowes.

We have had chickens for 9-10 years, and no other animal has gotten into the coop other than mice. But we have hawks and eagles that do fly overs all the time. We have other people in the area that lose chickens all the time, but they didn't seem to put a lot of thought into making their coops predator proof. The hardware cloth is the way to go, but get a roof on that before a hungry bird drips in.

Flat blade screw drivers to remove jets from small carburetors .
I have all funny drivers so I tune stuff that we do not. ie little carbs, ancient tvs, and old nuclear bombs.

A weasel will have no problem invading...will burrow and eat through about anything to get to food. Have to basically bury steel plate deep around perimeter. Elevate coop floor at least a foot off the ground. It needs to be steel and welded or very tightly fastened to the upper structure.

Here in Australia you can basically shoplift with impunity. Security can't touch you, store employees can't touch you. All they can do is ask you to put it back or pay.
They can call the police, but unless there happens to be one on the spot good luck.
And even then the person will most likely just get a warning.
