  • Welcome Back outlaws on today’s episode we investigate a roof leak on our 2004 Chevy Silverado. I started getting this funky smell in the cab of the truck after the last few rains that we had I saw stain on the headliner investigated further and found out that the third brake light on top of the cab was leaking around the gasket in this video I go through the steps I took to correct the leak and install a new brake light. I’m not sponsored by anybody and spend my own money on these projects if you like what you saw in the video, please consider subscribing to the channel hitting that like button and sharing the video and if you really like what you saw please hit that thanks button too! Same problem in both the Frontiers. So much water before we noticed it that it damaged the under seat subwoofer box. I fixed the 3rd light with a seal from the Home Depot. I made a video but never uploaded it. I should put it on the channel. Really like the new light. Thanks for sharing

Happy I found it before any damage other than the stain on the headliner. Working on a way to clean the stain now, still has that funky smell but should be gone after I clean the headliner. Thanks for the comment and taking the time to watch! 😎

I used some garage door leftover to seal the sunroof in my '96 ES300 I would like to see what you used for your light..

@jimharper6073 at 13:00 you can see the exact product I used. Still no leaks and water tight even after a hurricane 🌀

You would think the engineering team would have designed this better!

Noticed a drop this AM when driving in rain for first time in new truck.. have a feeling this may be the culprit due to the drop being somewhat in the center! The cab corners have some old water marks though if it is or not.. any thoughts? Good video too and thanks for sharing!

Hey Austin! Take a good look all around inside. Chances are if it starts in the center around the area of the brake light on top of the cab and moves out to each side that is where it is coming from. You don't want that funky smell to start! Depending on the age of the vehicle you may just remove the light to verify the condition of the gasket/seal get some silicone first so you can reseal the light when you reinstall. Hope this helps, post back here and let me know what you find out. Thanks for taking the time to watch 😎
