I forgot to add that if you watch the Ferrari prancing horse logo on the back of the car, the image “flips” depending if you steer left or right from the center. Was a cool way to halve the number of frames needed and memory. You’d never notice the tail switching “sides” when playing. Regards

The game where that happens at 24:18 is Turbo Out Run - if you fail to beat the rival car every 5 stages she leaves your car for his.
That was one professionaly made impact driver though.

Love the way the guy left the scraper/separator tool under the control panel decal… like leaving your spanners on the nuts when you give up on a car job and take it to a garage… keep the videos coming please. ♥️

I think that metal plate/disk is supposed to be folded around the nut to prevent it from unscrewing itself, instead of using a cotter pin, looked like the plate had a flat spot on the hole to key it to the shaft. I've seen it done that way in other high vibration situations.

As you know, SEGA = Service Games, which is apt as this game certainly needed to be serviced. I imagine that if they were called in to fix it, it would cost 5x as much as you charged.
Not my favorite game of theirs, but it was certainly a great arcade title in its day.

I'm surprised that more of them didn't need that gear. I saw many take a lot of abuse. It's a shame that the shaker motor didn't provide real force feedback. My force feedback wheel has a motor half that size and provides crazy effects on some grames. Mobil 1 Championship rally gives you a pull in the steering when you hit too many rocks along the road and you can repair it between stages. My Nascar game gives you a slight pull when someoe behind you pulls out to pass.

I've got a couple driving games from the 2010s at the arcade I work at an the steering assemblies on them are remarkably similar to this. Funny how little certain designs change over the years - if it ain't broke, don't fix it, eh?

Hope you greased up that gear and everything else while you were in there.
Also, that shifter gear shaft is a major PITA to remove. So hopefully, before you reinstalled it, you changed out the spring so it doesnt flop around while shifting to low gear.
