I love this video. I love the back and forth between you two. And she is very knowledgeable about small engines. That being said, I just purchased the Predator 5,000 no warranty. Just in two months, the warranty now is $350. And when you use the warranty, you have to purchase a new warranty when you use the warranty. so that's $700 for warranties. I'll pay the extra hundred bucks at the bottom end if things do go wrong. I paid $800 for mine plus tax and delivery. I just have a problem with them charging you the use of warranty again and again and again.
i am already overweight in my rig so guess until I get a trailer I will stay with what I have. Good video Sally is definately the go to for a lot of stuff! Hug Dottie and Kit for me. I can't wait to be able to do it myself.
hi rob have followed your travels for a year or so just wanted to say make sure you get the extended warranty i regret to say i did not ,my predator 5000 had the starter fail after 1 month of use ,but i had owned the unit for 5 months i contaced harbor freight and they told me there was nothing they would do ,so i asked about getting it repaired and was told there are no parts to repair it .had they told me thet when i bought i would have made a different purchase , good luck i love seeing your traveles with your pets have a great day pat
Adventures with friends are the best kind of adventure. I'm interested in seeing your experience using propane. I have a Honda and I've been considering installing a propane kit.
We just bought that 5000 Predator generator. Got it for $799 - 10%. They had a super sale and thought we did well. I then added the 2 year replacement warranty. It was just over $1000 total. It runs everything just fine. It seems that all brands are having problems with the CO sensors. A 20lb tank holds 4 gallons of LP. The electric start and remote start are great. We have a small, quiet predator 2000 generator that runs the RV just fine 95% of the time. The only thing it doesn't seem to run is the air conditioner. However, it sips the fuel. 1 gallon fuel last all day. The 5000 probably uses 4x that fuel.
@@Dottietravels I did not get the extended warranty. 1. It wasn't in the current budget and 2. I've never had a reason to ever use the warranty on products that I purchased in the past, always ended up being money I spent and didn't need too. But then again I got my 3500 on sale along with an additional percentage off so I walked out of the store with the generator for $530. And i have friends that have Predator generators and never had any issues so I was comfortable not purchasing the warranty. But your investment is much higher than mine was. Just make sure you do the oil changes. I did one after 2 hrs and will be doing another one after 5 hrs and 10 hrs just to break it in and make sure everything is running clean. And I hope I was able to give you some good feedback
Do you have a soft start on your ac unit? I have a firman generator from Costco. I love the electric start and dual fuel. If you do use gas make sure its ethanol free.
$1,519.58 including tax and $329.53 for 2 year protection plan. This means for the next 2 years, 3 months anything goes wrong I take it into a Harbor Freight and exchange it for a new one - no repairs. Worth every penny of the $329.53 for a full time traveler.
So sorry to hear about your generator and weather issues! But hope it all gets sorted out as painlessly as possible! Just curious why you didn’t get the Honda “companion” generator to your 2200i? I’m thinking about getting the companion so I’d have 4400W vs just the 2200, and not the heavy weight of a single 4,000 W generator?
I'm glad you went with Harbor Freight. Especially with your nomadic lifestyle. The Predators are very well rated. I THINK you can use the extended warranty to flat out trade your unit in for a new one near the end of the warranty. Do your own research on this but I've heard Harbour Freight allows this and doesn't frown upon it.
Well, I don’t think you can go wrong with the predator. I’ve had mine since 2017 and run the heck out of it and with just routine maintenance, sure would love to have dual fuel and remote start lol❤
I learned a lot about generators today. Thanks Rob and Sally 😊❤

Good choice
Great video. Glad you got it all sorted out and had ab adventure with Sally

Hi Rob and Sally, Dottie and Kit (and George!)

@@BarbConner I miss you too!

I did get the warranty
Like the back and forth with you and Sally. Sally is my go to for great advice. You both are having too much fun. 😂😂
Tractor supply is a feed store.

Just thinking, put a co2 detector in the bed of your truck, about half way between the tailgate and cab. Just too see.

Wow I paid $500 more for the same! Good for you!!!!
I just bought the 3500 for my camper. So far it's great. It runs my RV a/c with no issue without a soft start device.
Did you get the extended warranty? It is worth it

Maybe they are considered essential because they sell animal(cow ,horse, chicken , pig etc) feed, propane etc farm stuff

Yes I have a soft start and propane is working well so far on the Predator
What we are all wondering is: price?

I don’t like the idea of maintaining 2 generators
@@Dottietravels ahh, good point..
I'm only 2:00 minutes in but I'm guessing Tractor Supply is "essential" because they sell pet / livestock food and medication.

@keithbrookshire the guy in the store suggested that if it’s running “rough” at the end of the warranty period then they will replace it…
