I have actually used frozen COOKED shrimp , if I know I will be having the shrimp rolls I just thaw the shrimp in cold water , drain on paper towel. It tastes exactly as if you cooked them from frozen & it’s fast.
Just finished preparing and eating these tonight. OMG! So good! I also had frozen cooked shrimp on hand, i am a cilantro lover so added a ton, didn't have thai basil, can't wait to try it with that next time! My wrapping needs some work but they were ohhh so good!
Great video Gasia! I love Vietnamese food, it brings back great memories of travelling there. The sauce is not authentic tho & doesn’t compliment the spring roll. You could make a simple clear chilli sauce (lime, chilli, fish sauce & palm sugar). Great spring rolls though & well rolled to give the presentation 😜👌🏼
@@EatsWithGasia it does look nice and I've tried it before but it's more a SE Asian/ chinese style sauce. The traditional vietnamese sauce served with this is called 'Nuoc Cham' (lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, ginger, garlic & chilli). Honestly, look it up and try it, it's great and suits this dish better! Absolutely love the video but wanted to give you some constructive feedback, foodie to foodie! Everyday is a school day, even for me ?;^D
@@EatsWithGasia HappyHungry is right. I am Vietnamese born and bred. The traditional sauce eaten with Fresh Spring roll ( Gỏi Cuốn) is fish sauce based known as Nước Chấm or dipping sauce. If you order Fresh Spring Rolls in Vietnam, the chilli based sauce is served. The peanut sauce in Vietnam is only served with Nem Nướng or Grilled Fermented Pork. This dish is a specialty in central Vietnam where it was originated. The peanut sauce is served with Fresh Spring Roll in Vietnamese restaurants occurs initially in US by Vietnamese immigrants settled in US after the Vietnam war. Personally I like both sauces.
For military(official/unofficial) Vietnam and America and Russia = tunnel-rats and underground-complex in ASEAN = recent flooding and rehydration of ground-water/water-table = sticky thailand and stucked vietnam rice-types = steamed prawns wrapped in rice-paper feeling in esophagus Hokkien phrase chEk-tiEo = Steam the rice-paper wrap too.? Singapore weather description for hot to rain to very-hot = steam-ah~!
I tried spring rolls from a pho restaurant wasn't impressed I'm a Cajun I'm use to tons of flavors from the shrimp and this did not have that and the peanut sauce was ok but not as good as Cajun sauce's the shrimp had no flavor

Yummy. I love this taste. It is easy to make
Yummy ❤ Tip though for rice paper so it doesn't rip apart, just dip it through water for like one second. It softens as u put ur ingredients on 😊
