What's even more depressing that when 2B says "It always ends like this" means that she has killed 9S many time before and those asking for the reason is that 9S is very observent and very smart unit so it has discoverd secrets of yorha many times and 2B was designed for the very purpose of eliminating 9S and the thing that is even more disturbing that every time 2B kills 9S she feels both pleasure and despair at the same time and everytime 9S dies his memories are reseted so all the moments he spent with 2B are reseted and 2B cares for 9S alot

I love this scene. She is so sad and yet beautiful. You can really see the feelings that 2b and 9s have for each other. I'm not surprised that 2B seems so cold. Imagine having to kill the person you love over and over again. Of course 2B closes her heart so it doesn't hurt. Although, as we see, it doesn't work in the end.

@@rizaldorizkyramadhan5850 its not really torture, its just that 9s returning after 10 seconds felt weak and disregards all the feelings 2b had just felt. 2b has always romantasized the ability to kill “god”, with 9s gone her motivations for doing so are now very justified (in this case getting rid of all machines, so a few more missions where she tackles this inner feeling she found within her, in this case “loss” would be great, and then have a mission where 2b discovers 9s had unintentionall/instinctively backed up a part of himself to the machines around him bringing resolution and relief to 2b’s “loss”

The difference with this version of 9s is she actually opened up and acknowledged 9s' ideas, morals, and affection and thus also agreed with his morals and ideas, then later developed some form of affection (hence the reason for her sacrifice) throughout the events of where this story takes place in the timeline. This is the only time that they had this kind of interaction because Yorha was never in the same situation where this story takes place, there was no Adam and Eve, there is no resistance, there was zero accounts of machines becoming peaceful prior to all previous loops of both 2b and 9s, which makes this version of events unique and important as this version of their interaction is their last as there were no bodies to back up their memories. It just felt a little weak having 9s be alive 10 seconds later after a very crucial moment for 2b.
thankfully it's more akin to reincarnation than replacement, it's still 9S, even if he loses his memories. The Black Box carries his "soul" for lack of a better word.
In the game version, 2B already had her blindfold/visor off at the start of this scene and I seriously love how the anime changed that detail for more dramatic and impactful effect. In the anime version she instead doesn't lose the blindfold/visor until she's up close and about to mercy-kill 9S and his infected arm slashes it off, revealing only at that most intimate moment between them, what a sorrowful look 2B has on her face for what she must now do.
So the thing is that 2B is 2E she has to kill 9S over and over again but what i think is that she is not afraid to loose 9S as new one will be assigned but rather the pain of killing someone she loves with her own hands. Also the fact that she might also be afraid that 9S will also loose happy memories he spent with her
2B has so much more depth than just a sex doll how so many people (including the creator mind you) treat her. It's such a shame. I just hope that moments like this remind you of how great a character she really is.

The thing is he has 2B with him who loves him, so her gentleness and warmth always makes 9S sense the immense amount of love and joy with her Also 9S is quite intelligent as he saw through 2B's stoic armour that she really is a soft hearted person in a way that he actually meant that he knows she loves him
Learning who is the base design for 9S and what he did, dude, it is kind of ironic although he himself was not aware. Simply, he "kinda" screw himself up.
I haven't watched this anime or played the game. But it replaced that 2B was dead, killed by another app for another android. I've seen ten 9S's. So what's the deal? All in all, it's grim that an actress plays a second role in which she has to kill someone she loves.
