This track sounds melancholic because the melody starts at the tonic and never resolves. Each iteration the bass starts at home, falls downward just out of reach and is lost there. It moves in whole steps, disguised as a happy major scale but it's still minor in essence. The lead also starts at home but jumps up an octave, far out of reach before dancing around dramatic half steps and stabilizing on a perfect 5th. Both voices started harmoniously, traveled in opposite paths and did not return. Now estranged, it becomes more bittersweet when you realize that their new places in the key are only one half step apart. So close, but in the end discordant is all they can ever be
this is the kind of musical breakdown I want with songs. I always want to know what parts of songs cause certain feelings to be drawn up. Thank you for indulging me.
Song is called Born of a Star, space breakcore is by far a favorite of mine. It has so much emotion and beauty behind it in a form of music that's not something you'd expect to have so much emotion.
I always found it interesting that everyone has assumed that the Coral was always this sentient entity as the game never actually says this and even points out that Ayre is an anomaly. Everything the player is actually told about what Coral is seems to imply that Ayre is actually a mental imprint of the Rubiconians who died in the Fires of Ibis or even potentially a specific assistant to the head researcher.
Ayre isn't really an anomaly, though. We know there have been multiple other sapient coral entities, like Seria, the one who made contact with Father Dolmayan. Them being sapient isn't the anomaly; the contact between them and humans is. It can only happen with certain coral-enhanced humans, like generation 1 through 4 augmented humans, since those generations used actual coral instead of the synthetic substitute used in later generations that turned out to be much safer. Many characters, including Allmind, refer to ALL the coral as Ayre's family, siblings, etc. There is no indication the coral was not sapient before the Fires of Ibis; it was just unknown at the time.
I always assumed that the "voices of the coral" was everyone that died during the Fires of Ibis that got absorbed into the Coral becoming one giant hivemind. Its only rare that a mind manages to split off and make contact like Ayre or that other one (forgot the name)
i always thought that active coral had a very primative sentience or intelligence, and only wave mutations like ayre or the one dolmayan saw for example gained true sentience. and i fw the theory that people who died in the fire had their consciousness or aspects of em absorbed by the coral tides
I never quite took her line of being "a rubiconian" in her introduction literally, like she is of course a product of rubicon but she wasn't human turned coral or anything. But the idea of a mental imprint forming a simulcra consciousness in the coral is interesting. It does function as data storage after all, and the existence of neural links in this universe implies the ability to transmit brainwaves as data through coral.
I say it's second best. 4Answer really changed the way I see international politics and anthropology, and 6 has the same tone but feels more focused in.
It's really great but I would have preferred a more grounded setting on earth like For Answer and have the player just be a mercenary taking contracts with the drama coming from personal rivalries with other mercs and corporate backstabbing. I wasn't really a fan of the Coral story.
This is a very For Answer and 4 sounding track, sorrowful and kinda nostalgic. You hate to turn against the first entity who really considered you a person but if you want to complete Walter’s wish then you have to turn against Ayre and burn all the Coral. It’s sad to see her fight so hard against you when she knows even in her machine she has no real hope of beating a pilot of your caliber
Tbf, that still may have been Walter who was the first. If you pay attention to his dialogue, he tries real hard to seem professional and dismissive, but it really comes off as tsundere act (especially in his dialogues with other characters) and he does care about 621. Just in rough commanding officer trying not to get too close to his subordinate kind of way
@@Aurilion44 the part near the end, i dont remember which ending, where he says "its just a job, 621. all of it." really felt like he was trying to convince himself of that and not us.
It’s funny how fulfilling the wishes of what was practically your father before he was killed/faced a fate worse than death…is the ending that’s considered the worst of the 3 And it’s horrifying how right that is
This fight and the one with Rusty were the most difficult fights in the entire game. Not because they were hard bosses but because of the connection that I had made with the characters, AC6 is a truly beautiful game; Fromsoft keeps making me depressed ;(. Really hope we can have a expansion on the story between Ayre and Raven, Rusty too if he's alive.
in the ending where you fight Walter it's almost a given that he dies when his signal is cut off, in this ending he dies cuz we kill him and in the release ending he;s missing and it's implied that Allmind kills him
We really need Fromsoft to give us a (or several) dlc that expand on the storylines. I'd love to have a Balum Storyline, working my way up the ranks of my fellow gun loving rejects. Would be amusing if nothing else. A storyline where we breakoff and join with the RLF early on would be neat. Would interesting to have a storyline where we liberate Rubicon without having a giant suction cup thing built on the planet. Another that would be neat would be becoming a warlord leading the Real Dozers. Would obviously have a part where we lose or truly upset Ayre. But I do think it would be a neat storyline in detailing a self-destructive 621. A storyline where we somehow get Walter to back off lighting the fires would be neat, might even be awesome where its an inverses of the 'first' storyline. Where Aquabus is pulling out the Coral much faster than before, due to our actions of unifying the world, and we bring together Walter and his 'Overseers', The RLF, Ayre, and ALLMIND. Maybe ALLMIND gets discovered by the PCA, who choose to work with Aquabus to delete ALLMIND, leading to you bringing everyone to the 'table' as it were. A final mission where Chappy and ALLMIND are using the Xylem to act as a space carrier, bring you and all the other top pilots to fight against massive waves of LC's and HC's plus numerous BALTEUS. Win conditions wouldn't be beating enemies, but lasting long enough for several timers to finish, with secondary objectives, that if done, speed those timers up.
@tobiasneethling8871 in LoR it isn't clear if he is actually dead or if he did the core expansion teleport thing like when you fought him earlier, though considering how far he has to fall it's pretty likely he is dead, unfortunately. Regarding allmind, I don't think she'd have killed him since the RLF don't pose much of a threat to her goal, it's entirely possible the six vesper clones she deploys consist of some combination of the other 7 vespers including ones raven never kills himself, making it more likely he survived.
Out of curiosity, is Izar basque? The fact the song is named "born of a star" and Izar stands for "star" in basque just seems like too big of a coincidence to me.
i usually listen to born of a star on its own, and was not expecting to hear it here. literally did a double take. glad to find someone else that enjoys it though

Clicked on this video expecting to find a new song for myself to listen to but it happened to be a song already in a playlist I have, this is peak indeed
While I did all the endings for completions sake, I left this one last. Fighting my brain parasite waifu was emotionally draining. I blame Fromsoft for choosing her voice to be so damn soothing to hear.
something about outer orbit/space and pianos just goes so well together, with the breakcore going perfectly with the twitchy and fast paced action of armored core (yet to play the game so I'm missing the greater story element at play here)

depending on the order of endings you get, she holds up the promise

Break core is awesome bc of how it can be fitting for just about anything if utilized properly
Very much so, there's been occasions where I've put the controller down just cause I didn't have the heart to end her.
