If you watch the original video. The mother is running along the creek at the end of the vid. So she survived.
It says in the song at the very end once more Johnnys daddy was takin him fishin when he was 8 years old so my personal thought is that Johnny named the child they had after himself and he took him fishing as his dad did before him
She died. Johnny goes full depressed mode. Starts shooting drugs in his neck and then starts beatin the kids. He does time in prison where he climbs the ranks in the AB. Becomes a shot caller and orders hits as well as runs rackets in the joint. On his parole he meets his son. They re connect. Johnny gets clean turns his life around and on his last day of parole he got killed in BLM riots. The irony. Sad song
