DOTM Mudflap was my childhood holy grail. I was falling behind in school and my reading teach told me hed buy a transformer if I improved my grades, It might not not be a good toy but it meant more to me then anything else at the time.

The human alliance of the rotf designs are the closest we’ll get to mpm figures of these guys, and mudflap is apparently super rare/expensive too
Despite all the controversy surounding them i still have hopes we'll get them in SS eventually. As a kid i genuinelly loved them- mainly due to the fact they actually had screentime as opposed to most other bayformers, but i did love them nonetheless. Especially Mudflap in ROTF, i really love his altmode, and his bot mode design is much better than Skids' in my opinion. And i do love their icecream truck appearance

Actually, if you look at reviews and pictures from the time. The "Yellowing" on Mudflap isn't actually yellowing, it's just the color of the plastic they chose for some reason
then again we've seen plastic yellow right out the factory before so it's not beyond the realms of posibility

I got these figures for two reasons
1: because I lost the original ROTF versions
2: my mom actually likes the Twins and begged me to add them to my collection
despite what people said in a poll, Bay completely disagreed and had them killed off in the dark of the moon prequel story where shockwave attacked and killed off a good deal of the autobots including arcee and her sisters or clones whatever you want to call them and skids and mudflap were among them as well. Bay said their dialouge in Revenge was very off the wall racist and apparently even paramount and spielberg were on that same page. them being in dark of the moon was a mistake bay said was too late to correct after things were already done.
They should’ve been in dotm so we could see them get merked by Sentinel Prime

I feel like Skids and Mudflap would have been not hated as much in DOTM if they were kept, but I agree with them being removed from the film. Not being allowed to have studio series is ridiculous because all they need to do is bite the bullet, but they are unwilling to. For good reason, but I just wish they would.

I remember owning both of these at one point, and they aren't great I remember my skids right arm would always fall off the ball joint and as for mudflap the I hated the transformation, but I will always treasure the dark of the moon toyline as my favorite toy line even if they had some flops in the line
The funny thing was, when the human alliance toys were released, their versions were very highly sought after.
If someone made new heads for these, I could pretend they're entirely new characters... But no one has, and i can't, so that sucks
Also, incorrect- Crankcase is the best Legacy Skids anything

If I got a dollar everytime a character named Crankcase saves a mold with previous QC issues, I would have $2.00 (TLK Berserker)
I actually keep my Dotm skids feet untransformed and backwards so they can properly bend and just dont look clownish, and never bothered to get a DOTM mudflap because the Tuner mudflap is honesty the perfect one i need. I cannot imagine how much copium people are dosing, but im so in love with Skids and Mudflap

I am a hardcore transformer fan, love the design. I just didn't like they focus more on the human than the actual transformers. ROFB did amazing.
Like I said in another comment, they're no more racist than a caricature of a white person. It's mostly just white people trying to be offended for other people.

I remember I was at the store ready to buy a transformer, and I saw Skid’s head in the window and somehow that was an ultimate deciding factor to get Mechtech Ratchet. It was probably a good thing I picked Ratchet though
Funny enough, 2 days ago my dad walks in and we randomly brought up these 2 in a conversation. He then asked why tf these lads weren't in the 3rd movie. I regret telling him as I think it ruined his day...

i own these there really not that bad the head sculpt is nice and the car modes are pretty smooth and its simple to transform i like it
i have the rotf mudflap and i actually really like that figure. the alt mode is ON POINT, nice and intricate transformation, and it results in an accurate enough robot mode!
As an old f*rt, who grew up with G1 Transformers and the Cartoon, etc, etc, etc... I mostly forgave Michael Bay for the first TF Movie, because it was the first time we'd ever seen those beloved little robots in live-action, even if they weren't modelled correctly, and the alt modes and transformations were all wrong, but ROTF, DOTM and TLK were just like, WTF dude!?!
All I can say is, thank GOD for THAT Cybertron scene in Bumblebee and Unicron in Rise of the Beasts!
And we know that hasbro isn’t gonna do studio series for skids and mudflap cause hasbro have been blocking people on instagram people asking if they are gonna be making studio series
Whether or not something is racist really isn't the kind of thing that should ever be decided by majority vote. It'll eventually just end up being decided by whether or not the majority happens to like that particular thing.
For those who haven’t watched Theorymus’s video, these two weren’t intended to be stereotypical depictions of black americans, but rather meant to be just some wannabes or “posers”

I got rid of my ROTF skids and mudflap because I hated those characters so much. Now they are the only ones from the movies I don’t have and I need everyone. The toys weren’t that bad and now I’m gonna have to try and get them again.
I got Mudflap on my 12th birthday and Skids I got after I saw Real Steal in Theaters.

I had these toys I got them on eBay and they cost like 16 dollars together witch was a decent price for both up them together but after I Bought them I destroyed them both
Weirdly Skids and Mudflap almost have G1 proportioned designs. Intentionally or not they're the closest to G1 styled designs in the Bayverse.

I have a lot of nostalgia for the dotm mudflap toy because it was one of my first transformers I ever got and I lost him somewhere at sometime when I was to young to remember anything and for the sake of nostalgia I look on eBay for him every now and again and I want your advice on if i should get it
I got DotM Mudflap at some point for some reason I don't remember why, and I genuinely kinda hate the figure. It's just a mess. Car mode is genuinely pretty good once you get it all stuck together, but the transformation and robot mode just suck so much.
I cannot believe we don’t have studio series. And yet we have side ways who only appeared for LIKE 2 MINUTES!

How can a robot transformer be “racists” - the ones who think the characters are racists are the ones with underlying “racists” tendencies themselves. It’s not new information that Michael bay and the others who were onboard with making these movies drew some inspiration from real life people. If these characters are racists so is hound, jazz, drift and others..drawing inspiration for a character from a specific group doesn’t make them racists. And I post this comment as a “person of color”
I think because of how a big TF fans are mostly white they get uncomfortable seeing other accents, races or cultures. Dont get me started about the big freakout for TLK Hot Rod because his voice actor was from African descent.

Yeah, it's a harsh reality. I mean I'm not even a tf fan I'm just a fan of Michael Bay's movies, and he's a guy who takes race seriously. Dude even fought the rights for two African American protagonists instead of one to star in Bad Boys. He's a hip man, but I'm seeing the fan base being weird equivalent to haters when they see a new adaptation of any franchise having a character played by a different race. I seen Skids and Mudflap, yes, having a different way of speaking and an accent. But that's it really, they were clumsy but like hell were they stupid, they were badass and brave. I kinda feel uncomfortable seeing how people associate different accents as connected to IQ or something. They are robots who can program their own way of style and communication, what of it? I like seeing variety.

They got removed for the same reason Cogman lost the scene where he turned into a head for another robot in Last Night. They were no more racist than an exaggerated caricature of a white person. Hell, no one even thought of it as racist until well after the release of the movie, where everything was racist on the news. I love your stuff, really man. You're way off on this case though.

Not a transformer comment BUT I thought you said it was hard to pull back the spring on the nerf gun. Go pick up a nerf rival blaster. The Optimus blaster is the rookie numbers of strength. Nerf rival fires rounds up to 90-100 fps. Muzzle velocity not constantly cause that would be scary.

I owned mudflap years ago, he was missing his doors and the hood of the car though as I got him used, and honestly I really loved him. He was weird and ugly but I enjoyed that about him.
I don't know the asymmetry just appeals to me I guess? Again, I don't know, I just really like how he looks.
These two characters were a waste of resources in the ROTF. Seemed like none of the Autobots interacted with them. Bay should have One better Autobot instead of two of them
