I agree with another commentor. This song is so simple. But, you make it sound so good & doable for beginners on ukulele like myself. When I first heard Janis sing this when I was young, I thought it was kind of a silly song. Now, with your interpretation, I have so much respect for it. Now I realize how much skill & practice goes into playing simple songs.
Ever practiced ukulele as a beginner and forgot to breathe for 3-4 minutes. heck i should become a freediver. Stu i dig the lessons, my strumming is a bit here and there but its getting better. ive got the smile down to a T. if i dont wow my audience with my music il wow them with my pearly whites thanks :)
Stu, you are so awesome! I loved this tutorial! We are out on our 50’ boat cruising back from Opening Day of boating season in Seattle. And just had some old friends aboard in one of the ports we stopped in on the way home. Mary mentioned the ukulele and the next thing is we are are singing songs around the table in the salon. Then I watch this tutorial to add to my list of group sing-alongs. Thanks for all you are putting out there for everyone to learn and share!
Thanks Jerome! I'm very happy for your sweet scene there out on the water...sounds totally delightful! More goodies to come at my channel: goo.gl/rMXsnw
Technically Joplin 'adapted' M>B> from a poem written by LA Beat Poet, Michael McClure. Joplin saw McClure perform it, and on August 8, 1970 she reworked it into her own song, which she performed about an hour later. "Her" song was inspired by the poem, "C'mon, God and buy me a Mercedes Benz"

hi~Zen!🤗It's swing rhythm?
Yes, the 1/4 note strum with back beat accents is the foundation of swing for sure!
Isn't this song in 3/4 time?
It’s a slow 4 feel, not in 3/4 -
If it bounces like a triplet feel, that’s the bluesy rhythm...
😊😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
Thank you Gerry!!
