It's rather smart of her, and also very compassionate, that she tries to calm down this seemingly unwell person-- she still addresses what she said, but in a way that is not inflammatory. This is exactly how politicians should treat encounters with the severely mentally ill. Other politicians would have simply had their security grab the microphone and take the person away, but AOC de-escalated the situation instead.

The woman wasn’t removed in front of the video camera, which is a nice way to avoid disruption and keep the media from focusing on that woman instead of on AOC. Live and learn, I guess.
