As someone who started his journey from Jordan Peterson, I can say that he can be a good starting point to reorient yourself towards the Truth. However, after joining the Orthodox Church, I quickly outgrew what he teaches and started seeing many flaws in it.
Jordan Peterson was completely crucial in my conversion to Orthodoxy. I think everything in this video is correct, in my words it’s worded as ‘if you make an idol of JP you’ll fall, same as with any idol’
" *if you make an idol of JP* " Where and when did he tell you to do that? You guys are treating him like a false prophet, while he never claimed to be a prophet, or even wanted to be treated as such.
100% Truth be told, Dr. Peterson is probably the catalyst for more conversions to the faith (especially conversions of those in the secular world into the Christian world) than anyone else in the modern day. Similarly, his work, especially his Genesis series, was the first thing that ever got me to consider taking Christianity seriously years ago.
Moses didn't get to enter the Promised Land, but did bring His people there. That was Peterson's mission -- bringing young men out of "bondage" to be free to find God.
This video reminds me of that Tolstoy novel, The Death of Ivan Ilyich. That main character had a JP like approach to life, overt rational, but was still miserable despite having all material things and a family. Without Jesus, there is no life. Great video as always!
Without reason there is no life. Many believers have no clue what Jesus is, they can't see Jesus when he walks past them. There have been many second comings, people just don't understand, don't see. What you're talking about is a personality cult that human kind has, always wanting to worship something, so you pacify your need for that via what you call Jesus, but I wonder if you truly know him...
@@aaronvanzomeren8775 It could be meant that incarnations andor attainments of the schematic modality of "Christ Consciousness" (or Qof Consciousness) have/do/will inhabit people all throughout our collective past, present, and future. For example, it's arguable that the revival of Spiritualism from within the depths of this modern meaning crisis, and specifically the renewal of interest in and the expansion of Christianity beyond the simply nominal sense, is indeed the practical and existential resurrection of Jesus Christ. Deafened and blinded by their own presuppositions and expectations, many modern Christians have not the ears to hear nor eyes to see, and instead participate in what effectually amounts to a literal cargo cult (i.e. a cargo cult of words and "faith" in name alone, unintentionally ignorant of the Works as they presently occur). Christ IS risen, yet His Church awaits some body.
I don't think JP is trying to be an end all be all. I think he WOULD say to people that just following his advice isn't enough. In a way, he is kind of like a Socrates or a Forrunner figure. I think he's trying to meet people halfway, especially people whose brains shut off immediately after hearing a more blatantly Christian message. He's brought a lot of people to Orthodoxy, which I'm thankful for - he's probably our best evangelist at the moment. 😆
100%. If you read through the comments of his biblical lectures you’ll find plenty of people and young men especially who were self proclaimed atheists. Many stating that JP was the reason why they started to entertain the idea of Christianity and have an open mind to it. Consequently they give their life to Christ because of JP and his takes on Christianity which make more sense for the ultra rationalists and materialists.
Agreee. Jordan won't give us the guidance only Christ can but he's done a lot of good work to make modern people ready to receive the Gospel. I hope that he'll make the jump soon!
Dr Peterson single handedly turned me on to the stories of Genesis and inspired me to create a life where I support my family and have been able to bring two little boys into the world. He is a man among men, and he is on the path of spiritual awakening. Many of us have followed him for years since he was basically an athiest up until now where he is the #1 public voice promoting Christianity. He is the reason I am here on this channel. That being said, I do hear what you are saying Father Moses. You are absolutely right. I am one of the men you described here. But that is no fault of the good doctor- he is pushing us in the right direction. Do not fault him for his imperfection.
Peterson is close to conversion in my opinion. His wife is Catholic now, because she was inexplicably healed from a cancer with a 100% kill rate after she started praying the Rosary.
I am so happy for the inspiration you received. I pray that God softens father Moses’ heart so that he may also affirm the emotions of those who don’t agree with him here. 🙏
@@peanutbutterdijonnaise I think Father Moses is fulfilling his duty of being solid in and unapologetic in his convictions. I respect that. We need people to fill all different roles in our society, and a single person can’t assume two contradictory roles at once.
I used to listen and watch Dr Peterson when I was a teenager many years ago. Really helped me so he has gained my respect. I won’t ever throw shade at him
I have great love for JP as well, helped me too. This isn't throwing shade though. This is loving admonishment of incomplete medicine and a guidance to the full medicine. Grateful for both of these men!
@geneparmesan88 Well have you ever seen a Christian that devotes every Sunday to church. They appear to be devoted to the word but they are a terrible person? Self help and inner work is also needed. You know exploring childhood wounds and understanding how it affects you as an adult?
One of my favorite parts ""Becoming better" almost a man-made, deification. Almost like the devil's, deification. It's all self-referential, your own strength, your own purpose your own definition, of who you are, your own definition of success. There's nothing deeper or more meaningful about it. When you look at the Orthodox view of deification, when man begins to take his eyes off of himself and puts all of his eyes, all of his attention ,all of his mind upon God; he is saturated and permeated with the love of God, a deep meaningfulness. A cross that is so difficult to bear but is in a weird way refreshing. You know when we're pouring ourselves out for God and in service to other people, not for our own Glory, but to glorify Him, it becomes a source of comfort. It becomes a source that we define ourselves by." Great video Father! Thank you!
If a man trying to find mate, eventually marrying, start family, have kids , and if they have no ambition, no financial stability, bad health - "Becoming better" ( you) is a good first step forward - I see so many young men at church and they seem to portray the holier than thou - But yet have no other game, and are floundering. low self-esteem, and feelings of inadequacy ( some I feel they bury themselves into religion to cope, and to hide from the real world?). and feel paralyzingly afraid to approach women. As for you being as you say (if) you're a Dr? You certainly had to "become better" (you) to achieve that? ( and the priest with no neck in this video , does he lift weights for God or for himself?),

Faith without action is dead. Action can be taken spiritually, physically, and mentally. Without balance you are no man of God but a pretender that escapes into one of these three. Self-improvement has to be done in the name of being able to take burden and responsibility for that which you love.
@@sitka49 Thanks for the comment, brother. What I got from this message is that the standard by which we judge if we are truly "Becoming Better" is our relationship with Jesus Christ. All other forms of self-improvement tend to separate us from Christ. They are worldly false idols, more money, more ambition, and more health. There are many saints who had no money, no health, and no ambition aside from their relationship with Christ Jesus. This is not to say those things are bad. They are just meaningless, as we read in Ecclesiastes. This message hits hard for me as I am a sinner, and I have and still do chase those things when I know my eyes should be fixed on Christ. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. God bless
I’m not going to argue with anyone in here. I am orthodox and Christ is the center of my life. JP, has helped me more than I can count. His work and teachings has always lead me back around to Christ our God. ☦️☦️☦️
The theologians who criticize Peterson fail to recognize that he’s speaking from the psychological perspective and not a theologian perspective and that actually a very important distinction, Peterson also openly says that what the metaphysical implications for the crucifix and christian-related things are he doesn’t know, so he’s not speaking what those things mean metaphysically, he’s implying the importance of the crucifix and masculinity from the psychological perspective since he’s mainly the most talented psychologist of our century and openly admits what he doesn’t know and he’s constantly learning about it
Si enim comprenenais non est Deus - "If you think you;ve understood God , that AIN'T God" - In other words all the religious scholars, priest - their all shooting from the hip. At best its a best guess.
There is an oriental saying, going something like this; “The wise man points at the moon, the fool gawps at his finger.” The relevant Biblical type, would be Moses’ bronze serpent on the staff, that saved the lives of those who looked upon it and believed that God would heal them from the bites of the serpents vs. the outright worship of the very same bronze serpent, under another name, in the time of Hezekiah… Whether intentional or not, JP, at best, is offering people the latter: the uncoupled faith and worship of the bronze serpent on the staff. It is a bait and switch, that could never truly heal or save anyone from themselves and their love of self.
One more person here saying JBP helped as a bridge between atheistic nihilism and the Orthodox Church for me. Thank you JBP, hopefully he himself is headed to the Church! ☦️
As an EX clinical psychologist, ascetic householder struggler in Christ, in His One Holy Church… I can attest his approach is INCOMPLETE! The techniques “help” but they keep you DECEIVED as to what’s REALLY AVAILABLE BY Grace! Purification, illumination, Union… with GOD! Amen Father!
I don't think Jordan is completely wrong, but I think you completed what he was saying. We live for God, but we must live for ourselves simultaneously as you said. Good work sir! Thank you for your videos
No… we do not live for ourselves simultaneously… we put God first, walking our personal path to the greater one true path Jesus Christ, within it we bear the cross and get stronger and better as needed, as He sees right to give or take, to keep going… to Him. For our sake and salvation under it, within it, not alongside it, this is not about us 🙏🏻 I can’t see where Fr. Moses say we live for ourselves, it was probably something along the lines of working hard for the greater good, for God.
@@scottmontoya6329 - To what extent we truly have free will, it’s debatable… but I believe it boils down into two options alone where we can truly choose from - We choose God, or we choose sin (upon to us). This sits on the baseline where we are either children of God, or children of sin (not upon to us generally, but also not excluding us completely out of it). Our daily and momentarily choices (or, allegedly choices) are infinite, some are better some are worse, but the “meta” they are consisted within is either of the two, white or black, there is no in between. So, reframing your question into the definition I gave, I would make it: “Why God gave us the option to choose sin to begin with?” And I would say, because love is about true relationship, and God is Love 🙏🏻
@@GrGalI agree with this, it’s “thy will be done” or your will be done, if you choose his will through your own will you’re living in union with Christ through the free will he gave us, also ultimately living to our highest potential that he created us for, by choosing his will over what we desire, From my understanding that is the definition of denying yourself and bearing your cross.
jordan peterson works for the money changers. and will therefore never admit that jesus christ lives. it would cost him all the success he has made for himself.
Theologians should understand something. Whenever Dr. Jordan Peterson is talking about masculinity, the crucifix and other related things, he’s speaking from a *psychological and philosophical* standpoint and not from a theological standpoint and he openly says that what the metaphysical reality of those things is, he doesn’t know, so he doesn’t even say what the proper metaphysical meaning of those things is and because of that all your criticisms fall in water and also your failure to differentiate between those two things and he’s done a lot more for the christians too and has drawn so many people into the faith. Don’t forget the impact that he’s had, he did contribute a lot for the christians and he’s constantly learning about the faith and will continue learning and coming out with new better arguments, again, he’s speaking from a **psychological** and not from a theological perspective, your criticisms fail there.
Damn, this response is correct on so many levels. The thing with JBP is, he never claims to perfectly follow the rules he gives out to others. He understands the biblical meaning of sin very well. It's not a matter of perfection but a matter of aiming.
I have a question. Do you think listening to JP can create issues in your spiritual faith? I feel that one can start to harbor doubt by wondering whether their religious experiences are just psychological phenomena. For example, I sometimes feel like the Holy Spirit is speaking to me but there's also a skeptic in me who suggests that maybe it's just in my head. I'm pretty sure I got this from listening to a lot of JP and reading Carl Jung. I would like to hear your thoughts.
Thank you for your invaluable insight and guidance, Father Moses. Your wisdom has truly made a difference in my journey. My name is Andrei Ioan(Andrew-John) and I’ve been raised an orthodox christian by my family in Romania. I began studying Dr. Jordan Peterson's books seven years ago and successfully grasped the essence of his teachings. Motivating someone to do good "in the name of God" might be difficult if they don't share that belief in God. Peterson’s approach resonates with many because he taps into universal principles like the importance of taking responsibility and striving for meaning, which can appeal to people regardless of their religious beliefs. While this can be a strength, it's understandable that from a religious perspective, the lack of a direct spiritual connection might seem like a missing piece. Those who believe in God can connect their actions to their faith, while those without religious beliefs can still be motivated by the pursuit of meaning, personal growth, or ethical principles. Finding common ground, like a shared sense of purpose or a commitment to doing good, can unite people from different belief systems. I believe that by engaging with Jordan Peterson's teachings and taking steps toward self-improvement, those who hold faith will naturally find themselves drawn closer to God. In line with Christian philosophy, the process of striving for personal responsibility, meaning, and purpose leads individuals to a deeper understanding of their spiritual connection. As one works to better oneself, the path of self-discipline, truth, and moral responsibility ultimately aligns with the pursuit of God’s will, revealing a journey toward faith and divine guidance.
Yes, and fundamentally, you have to more or less discover this for yourself; being told to follow Jesus "just because" does not and won't ever work. I think that's the key reason Dr. Peterson isn't a preacher at this point. In his defence, he'd rather guide people towards the Good but then leave the crossing of that bridge entirely up to them. That's probably just the difference between a good teacher and a good preacher, the former being Dr. Peterson and the latter here Father Moses (giving him the benefit of the doubt). Both are valuable, and neither are entirely wrong for what they do. For what it's worth, this Orthodox idea of deification seems highly suspect, appealing as it does to do the sin of pride. I'd be very careful of that.
Agreed! Yeah JP is a head doctor, not that there is nothing wrong with that. It's just that from a spiritual standpoint, things can get muddy when you try to merge the 2
Peterson is always talking from a psychological perspective and not a theologian one, people utterly need to understand that in order not to fall to confusing criticism

I have pushed myself to the peaks of self improvement and self development. It was after a very traumatic event in my life. At the peak I felt myself sliding downhill again. I was without god in my life. It was only once I adopted god into my life that I felt that trauma leave me so I could look to him. Now I say this as a man that has been godless and deeply immersed into self development and as a man of god now. A man of god that has not done inner work on himself is a fragile man. They will crumble under the devils temptation. Let’s not separate the two. Men need both but ultimately we must look towards god as if we are nothing. We must forfeit our ego and realize that all material and external means nothing to our lord and savior.
I respect your path to God and your sharing, but it is yours brother. A man of God may need things you have been through and may not. Once he is a man of God the things he truly needs will come his walk, one way or another, there is nothing external needed as a pre-condition to follow Jesus Christ, it meets you right where you are in whatever condition you are, and from there on, the path itself will provide all the self-development required, with sweat and tears, with eternal peace.
Peterson's mission was not to preach the Gospel. The fallen world wouldn't have heard him if he did. Moses didn't get to enter the Promised Land, but did bring His people there. That's Peterson -- he brought many young men out of "bondage" to be free to find God. "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD."
@@marcoslopez127 I could see it early on. Everything he was saying was just adjacent to the works of Sts. Augustine, Aquinas, and Ignatius. Peterson also uses the Socratic Method very well, something that's all but lost in academia today. So much of the world today is filled with prescriptions on WHAT to think, not HOW to think.
listen to everybody, who is in the same position as you, then you have a chance to actually get somewhere, If you listen to everybody, one rich one poor, one clever one stupid but in different places in life you will get stuck right in the middle of their opinions. Find people who are in your boat and see what they have to say. Then it will make sense.
Without Peterson I would never have been open to Christianity. I’ve seen a bunch of priests criticize him lately. I am forced to wonder if jealousy isn’t a big part of the issue.
me too. He kicked me off to get me out of my room when I was 21 and pull me out of a dark mental state. 2 years later I bought a bible, several months after that I live with a good connection God. Without a father-figure to give me that push, there's no way I would've realized my worth to begin with and even fathom to believe in God.
I don’t think it comes from jealousy, but rather a place of genuine concern. Father Moses is simply pointing out that self help cannot be the end all for us. Without a deeper relationship with God, Jordan Peterson’s advice devolves into Pelagianism, a heresy that claimed that perfection, or in this case, divinization/theosis/deification can be achieved under our own power. Granted, it all depends on the priest.
I really doubt it because the allure of Peterson is a result of living in a culture so saturated with modernity and lacking in God and tradition that his ideas 'seem' commensurate with Christianity but are just a materialistic stop gap. However divine providence can use anyone to bring others to Christ.
Protestant, but absolutely appreciate your message brother. I'll spend this Saturday night listening to your message. You do great, brother! God bless y
"Carrying our cross by pouring ourselves out in the service of others . . . ". Thank you Father, I appreciate these words. I am a newly baptised Orthodox Christian and it feels like I am learning about Christ for the first time despite having been Protestant for almost 40 years. I am grateful for videos like these.
You can agree with that. If we accept the fact of creation in the image and likeness of God, all attempts to repair ourselves will not be complete. All philosophies (e.g. stoicism), biohacking, meditation, diets and all psychology do not meet these conditions. But as experience shows, not everyone can be Christian and many people, following the path of Peterson or others, achieve a certain level of well-being. And it does not necessarily have to be associated with a feeling of loneliness and emptiness. Christianity sets the bar very high. And many people nowadays find it difficult to get on track with religious thinking.
I believe he actually has done that through a more recent interview with John Rich. It was about 2 months ago. He did say that he had submitted to Christ long ago. 😊
True nuff. I have seen Peterson as CS Lewis's step one. When Lewis was struggilng with this he came to the conclusion that this 'working out our salvation' was a necessary step to prove to ourselves that we couldn't do it on our own. The exhasution and burn out, the hopelessness are the final proofs that we so desperately need God, and so many of us have to hit that wall before we can break our addiction to self-reliance.

J.P.s comment (paraphrasing) on how science doesn't tell us at all how to behave in the world and that's what's lead us to where we are is one of the things that lead me to look for church, even as a non believer. By the grace of God I found The Church. I had never even heard of it before. After committing myself to attending with my boys for their sakes I found faith and after around a year my husband joined us. We were baptized together with our three sons one year ago, and our 4th, newborn, son was baptized a couple of weeks ago. Glory to God!
About a year ago I really tried working on myself. Keeping my room clean, barely drinking any caffeine, and overall taking Petersons teachings into deep consideration. I ended up becoming extremely burnt out after 2 family members passed away, and relapsed on drugs. I’m getting sober again, and I found myself exactly where I was a year ago. I was at the gym today, and I was just thinking “how am I not going to get burned out again?” How wonderful is our God, who answers our deepest questions that we ask no one.
I believe his new book “We Who Wrestle with God” expands on these topics and it isn’t as much about “clean your room” and other self help, it’s real applications of the Bible’s stories on how it explains our struggles. I believe he is a great stepping stone for us young men, but we need the synergy from the Holy Spirit to live for God. Thank you Father Moses for these very informative videos. Videos like these are helping me join the Catholic Church and find myself in it rather than in worldly obsessions. God bless you and all of your work!
When I was crossing the Atlantic Ocean I totally understood that Columbus crossed the Ocean at 1472 because he was believer and he was a true Christian and if he did not believe in Christ, he would never have crossed the ocean
Merci Moïse. Vous m'aidez vraiment à comprendre et à retrouver ce que je pensais il y a trois ans. Obrigado, Moses. Você realmente me ajudou a entender e encontrar o que eu pensava há três anos.
I get what you say. I just said the same thing to my wife earlier today. "You need jesus christ for society to become better, you will not have the fruits without the labor, and not just any labor, the one that jesus give you." And she said "you will be burned out without God"
My interpretation of Peterson is that he's an Enlightenment liberal and still holds onto the ideas of and self-actualization that took off in the 60s and 70s where the hyper-rational "self" is supreme. Ironically this culture of narcissism created the demand for mental health and psychiatric professionals like Peterson himself. Enlightenment liberals of this type believe many social problems are technical problems where there are rational techniques to applied to solve particular problems, either individual or social. Father Moses already explained the issue with this. For all Peterson's talk of spirituality, he comes from a psychiatric viewpoint and views religious belief as a utility that confers certain psychic benefits.
This has always been my issue with self help people or people who are way into philosophy, yes they have great ideas on how to improve your life but it’s missing God, could not be more thankful that I was exposed to the Orthodox Church by Jay Dyer / Jimbob, it has opened my eyes in so many ways!

This video was well spoken. Reminds me of John 15:5, "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."
J Peterson started very strong, but, sadly, the people who very much misinterpret him started fighting him, really for no reason. That fight has eventually destroyed him. We are seeing a fallen hero now. It could have been very different. Peterson made many more people understand spiritual principles better than any book or priest ever could. Peterson led more people to God than any priest, at least in contemporary times in the western civilization. And then after seeing what the crazies are doing he realised what's going on, and you might be misunderstanding what truly is going on. There are barbarians at the gates, the search for God won't be possible if your head is separated from your neck. Jordan understands very well how societies move. I am sure that he is, or at least was at one time, one of the most intelligent people on Earth. He understands what's the danger, he understands what base we have to have in order to be able to find the light. I'm not saying that you're wrong, but a bit ignorant to the situation in the world maybe? P.S. Jordan Peterson is very much Christ.
I agree with you man on certain segments. I think he knows where a big chunk of the public is at and he is leading them in baby steps that they can fathom in the right direction. He is actually leading people who have been blinded by their intellect with intellect to reconsider the ancient religious lore. Might as well rename him Jordan Mustardseed.😆
Jordan Peterson's approach comes from a psychological angle. While Ft. Moses has a more religious approach. I respect both and have learnt many things from both of them.
I love Dr. Peterson and his wife. His practical wisdom is good - but it does become an endless loop of pragmatism. He’s not bold for Christ, he covers it up with circular thinking and fancy word salad. Also, his wife does yoga and worldly meditation and recommends it to others. They do the “whatever works” brand of Christianity. I’m a former Hindu and occultist and I don’t believe you can engage in these wrong practices and be a holy vessel, and he’s one flesh with his wife, so of course - the fruit follows. We love you Fr. Moses! ❤
I appreciate this truth Father Moses, thank you. If it wasn't for Dr. Peterson however, I wouldn't have even been able to get myself out of my room, that was the issue when I was 21 in October of 2021. It was because of that self-referential kickoff that got me back on my feet, and 2 years later I purchased my first bible and converted from Hinduism to Christianity, now 23y/o. Now, I live according to what you preach and dismissed all self-seeking behaviour (or at least seriously trying to), and am patching all the holes that Peterson misses in his teachings, of which you cover. I think this is the reality for many young guys too who lack an earthly father figure; it's extremely difficult to realize your worth to begin with and realize God, and we have to get that pat on the back from somewhere but eventually, I hope all young men do reach this stage of closeness with God. Again, thank you for your channel Father Moses, love from Canada.
In 1984, Winston Smith and O'Brien engage in a dialogue where the former, horrified by what the latter has revealed to him within Room 101 of the Ministry of Truth, insists, "There is something in the universe-I don’t know, some spirit, some principle-that you will never overcome," in response to which O'Brien coolly inquires, "Do you believe in God, Winston?" Defeated by this question, Winston answers simply: "No." I like Jordan Peterson, and have learned much from him, but two of his major influences are Carl Jung, a Hermeticist (read: alchemist)/ occultist, and Joseph Campbell, a disciple of Jung's. As is to be expected based on this, he doesn't seem to see the virtue present in other traditions as foreshadowings of Christ (as in Hieromonk Damascene's Christ the Eternal Tao, or Chesterton's The Everlasting Man), he only understands the story of Christ as one more story, one more mythology to be analyzed and compared; one more tradition to be broken down into its component pieces and served a la carte. That's to say nothing of his recent involvement with Russell Brand. If he continues on his present course, he'll be reduced to one more Winston Smith before the end. We should pray for him.
First time I've accessed one of your video's and although I'm usually disappointed with most youtube evangelists, clerics, and theologians who too often are pre-occupied with dogmatism , obscurantist fundamentlism and smug moralism , your address here is refreshingly relevant with it's edifying meaningfulness for Christian contemplation . And I'm not even Orthodox !!
First off, Peterson constantly refers to the logos…..what you called the Holy Spirit….. you are splitting hairs over semantics and completely misquoting or completely ignoring things that Jordan has said.
Father moses i whould be really interested too hear you opinion about David goggins message etc he has some similar views ok what you sed about adictions but he only base it on the human mind etc,he believes in god etc and he make some point about his fears being linked too god,it will be a pretty interesting video but most of all helpfull, agen thanks for the help
I love Peterson for the fact that he helped me mature in a sense. He showed me something on an intellectual level that resonated deeply with me a couple years ago and I appreciated it. Not only that but he also if I remember, advocated for God's existence. And since then I've gone on the journey to be in communion with God. I eventually found orthodoxy, & now I'm in their catechumin/inquirer classes. So there's a lot to thank for Peterson nonetheless on my behalf, but your teaching shows true father. One that should be amplified to all extent
amazing message! I went through the exact steps you outlined there. By following Peterson's vision of reintegration I found myself relying solely on myself and having a false image of what I thought myself to be to being broken and understanding that I can only have peace and be fulfilled when I give up control and have faith in Jesus and glorify God as my ultimate purpose. Peterson outlines what can be a good first time, but there is much lacking.
On an unrelated note, did anyone notice how extremely muscular this man is? Underneath that black garment, you can see the silhouette of (dare I say) a bodybuilder. I admire the physical discipline he must have. He is definitely someone who works out and takes care of his body. Not just his mind and spirit. 🫡
Peterson pointed the way out of the trap of secular materialism and into the arms of Jesus Christ for me. I never would have begun seeking Him without Peterson's works. You're right that Peterson is missing the final piece of the puzzle, but he's pointing the way. I'll be baptized soon, God willing, into the Orthodox Church and I would have died if Christ had not used Peterson to open my eyes.
First of all , Jordan Peterson is dedicated years of his life to his ideas and craft I just hope you guys have done you’re own work before you insult or dissect a brilliant man like him
Father: I've recently discovered you on TH-cam and I appreciate your takes on many things. This video makes many good points and I don't disagree with your conclusion. Like many in the comments, I, too, started my journey with Jordan Peterson and I still believe that Jordan Peterson has considerable social value. His popularity came to be because society lacked what he offered and even though it can be argued that his position on things isn't or shouldn't be our final destination, his guidance was very relevant for many people, including myself. That being said, I do agree that we need to reach beyond just the self if we're to get anywhere in our own lives or to feel truly fulfilled in them. I do believe that Dr. Peterson is on his own journey to discover truth and I think the difference is that he's trying to unravel it publicly while most of us are trying to unravel it privately away from scrutiny. I'll never criticize Dr. Peterson's spirit since it's helped an immense number of people orient themselves in the right direction, even if some might disagree on this point. I don't think either of you is wrong and I do think that two things can be true simultaneously as is the case here. I think both of you make valid points and I think both of you ultimately want the same things for your respective audiences which is their growth and well being. I hope that people see this video as a compliment to Dr. Peterson's work and as a further stepping stone in their own journey.
As awesome as peterson is, he claims to be a christian but refuses to ever answer any questions on it, and bites around the bush when cornered on his belief because he doesnt want to be wrong and wants to adhere to the largest audience possible I would assume for business reasons. His priorities arent perfectly in check.
You could have made your points without criticizing Jordan Peterson’s work. Apples and oranges. Dogma and philosophy. He’s clearly wrestling with God, as we all are. His wrestling is just in the public eye, therefore it opens him up to unnecessary scrutiny like this. In my humble opinion, this is misguided at best and clickbait at worst.
Jordan Peterson is not beyond criticism, and it is entirely possible that someone could critique or even outright disagree with him without ill intent. If your main priority is to suck Jordan Petersons ass, perhaps you should have let the video pass you on by. He's not always right, and he has plenty of priors that influence his opinion. He's not entirely objective, as one might initially assume, he's just as subjective as the rest of us....troll demons or whatever he calls people that don't directly agree with every word that leaves his lips. He'll lecture the Christians, he'll lecture Muslims, but he won't lecture the ones who pay him. He sold out, any opinions he might have in the future can be justifiably discarded.
For all its logical simplicity and plain English, this was the most effective, specifically Christian little lecture-sermon I've ever heard and I've heard a lot of them. And am often quite suspicious of the content not to say the motives. But it's JUST the pithiness and language: it's the core concept. The deification, not some vain, juvenile power-seeking or ego-protection, but the real deal. Mysticism and magical ascension through HELP in turning objective values into lived virtues. This was great. You had obviously Truth on your side. I'm not niminally any sort of Christian but Jesus is always here no matter what corruptions his image and words have been submerged in and woven with. He's a remarkable individual in ways honestly I do not sense the majority of soi-disant Christians appreciate.
What's with the frozen chosen Christians hating on Peterson? That man has done more for Church recruitment than anyone within the church. Just as in Iron John, a hunter from the outside had to show up and save the kingdom. I returned to the faith after listening to his Biblical series and now read the Bible every day. Hey "Christians", why not act like Christ and meet people where they are at? It's a salting process for a reason.
Brilliant comment! Theologians fail to understand that Dr. Jordan Peterson is talking from a psychological and not from a theologian perspective. God bless
He really has recruited so so so many skeptics !!!! Peterson has been such an incredible testimony, spokesman of Christ, it makes me so happy thinking about it
We all have an emptiness we try to fill with something. Drugs alcohol work some are worse than others and we distract ourselves from it while we try to achieve our goals but it is still there.
You are welcome to disagree with me here, but I see the Ego as the Devil's ultimate lie that takes the man away from God. The ones who identify with their Ego's are chasing their tails. The ego is driven by fear, contrary to God's Love that our souls channel in this world. JP's methodology, along with Andrew Tate's one, is healing the Ego, but ultimately suffocating the soul.

I'm a millennial lifelong atheist/agnostic who came to Orthodoxy through the Peterson to Pageau pipeline. I'll always be grateful to Dr. Peterson for cracking my hardened heart with his intellectual approach that I was receptive to.
Father Moses, I have a question that I think many young men including myself struggle with... Do you think there is an exaggarated emphasis on being a warrior and chase financial freedom, strength, peak performance etc.? Social media is swarming with dudes like this propelling men to become warriors, gym rats, succesful businessmen and so on. On multiple occassions now throughout my life though, I seriously questioned my own identity. Wondering if I am forcing myself down a path not meant for me instead of letting God sort out for me what my best use is. I'd think the world needs workers, nurses, teachers and people that value a slower and simpler living. Maybe even a simple garbage man that goes home, takes care of his basic needs, and then just invests remaining time and energy into his church community, bible and relationship with God is living a fuller life than all these guys chasing the hypersuccesful, peak performance, finanancial freedom, warrior narrative? I don't know. What do you think? I'm in serious existential crisis. I reduced my life to working (Christian company), basic needs and bible study. I have forced myself into many roles throughout my life, but perhaps not everyone is meant to be a warrior and I am of better use in God's kingdom elsewhere? I'm very curious about your stance on all of this.

Truth be told, Dr.

It could be meant that incarnations andor attainments of the schematic modality of "Christ Consciousness" (or Qof Consciousness) have/do/will inhabit people all throughout our collective past, present, and future.
Probably all the times people say they were saved or born again, prior to living their exact same lives.

""Becoming better" almost a man-made, deification.
It becomes a source that we define ourselves by."

For our sake and salvation under it, within it, not alongside it, this is not about us 🙏🏻
I can’t see where Fr. Moses say we live for ourselves, it was probably something along the lines of working hard for the greater good, for God.
@@GrGal not arguing with you, I'm seeking answers.
If we don't live for ourselves and Him simultaneously, why do we have free will?
@@scottmontoya6329 - To what extent we truly have free will, it’s debatable… but I believe it boils down into two options alone where we can truly choose from - We choose God, or we choose sin (upon to us). This sits on the baseline where we are either children of God, or children of sin (not upon to us generally, but also not excluding us completely out of it). Our daily and momentarily choices (or, allegedly choices) are infinite, some are better some are worse, but the “meta” they are consisted within is either of the two, white or black, there is no in between.
So, reframing your question into the definition I gave, I would make it: “Why God gave us the option to choose sin to begin with?”
And I would say, because love is about true relationship, and God is Love 🙏🏻

Jordan Peterson along with my wife, brought me to God...
He didn't open the door, but he brought me to it.

Praying that father Moses’ heart is softened to be able to accept that JLP has led others to Christ Jesus.
@@NiGeRiAnGeEk Maybe. But I don’t know if that’s accurate
I really doubt it because the allure of Peterson is a result of living in a culture so saturated with modernity and lacking in God and tradition that his ideas 'seem' commensurate with Christianity but are just a materialistic stop gap. However divine providence can use anyone to bring others to Christ.
Praise be to Lord Jesus Christ
Protestant, but absolutely appreciate your message brother. I'll spend this Saturday night listening to your message. You do great, brother! God bless y
"Man was created for transcendant union with God".. I like that. I like that a lot. Thank you Father Moses
Dr.Peterson has come forward with his faith very recently. I’m sure he would correct past work
I believe he actually has done that through a more recent interview with John Rich. It was about 2 months ago. He did say that he had submitted to Christ long ago. 😊
@@TheLocalJesusGirl yes I believe you are correct
I was so elated to learn his wife converted to Catholicism. God be praised!
Peterson is an atheist who sees religion as psychological expression of us humans.
*I'm favoured only God knows how much I praise Him,* $230k every 4weeks! I now have a big mansion and can now afford anything and also support God’s work and the church.
Only God knows how much grateful i am. After so much struggles I now own a new house and my family is happy once again everything is finally falling into place!!
Wow that's huge, how do you make that much monthly?.. I'm 37 and have been looking for ways to be successful, please how??
It's Ms. Evelyn Vera doing, she's changed my life.
I started pretty low, though, $5000 thereabouts. The return came massive. Joey is in school doing well, telling me of new friends he's meeting in school. Thank you Evelyn Vera, you're a miracle.
Wow...I know her too she is a licensed broker and a FINRA agent she is popular in
US and Canada she is really amazing woman with good skills and experience.
Another certified Fr Moses banger. Thanks for your wisdom Father.

I get what you say. I just said the same thing to my wife earlier today.
"You need jesus christ for society to become better, you will not have the fruits without the labor, and not just any labor, the one that jesus give you."
And she said "you will be burned out without God"
Going to advice to the son is insulting to the Father .
Oh my God your message hits me hard. Really hard. I messed so badly. I think every young guy following these online gurus on money should understand that they should not do this for themselves. Trust me you will fail and fall deeply to depression it's so bad. Please i beg of you young guys the pit you will fall in is extremely hard to come out of. Could you share some details about the bi-weekly topic you brought up?
Yeah sounds impossible, yet with Claudia Ann Brandon, I've come to the conclusion that financially anything is possible. I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend and a whooping $320k in savings already, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in debt then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Claudia Ann Brandon is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good wife, and a beautiful daughter. I had wondered why JP cries so much.
Man I really appreciate this video. I’m struggling extremely with my health and I’m struggling to find meaning in my life. I did my physio, then went out for 4 hours of limping from spot to spot doing more intermittent physio. Then I got home and slept from 6pm last night to midnight the. Was up for a few hours. Then slept another 6 hours and woke up so tired and barely able to move this morning.
It gets pretty easy to get depressed and to stop seeing the meaning in my life. Thank God for His son Jesus. Without Him I would have died long ago.
Appreciate you sir. God bless you.
Perhaps, one day, JP will ask to interview you, and then you can voice your concerns to him face to face.
JP wouldn't understand, so what's the point.

Great video! But what happened to your X account?

You said what needed to be said, thank you father Moses. I'm not EO but your teachings have helped me a lot. God bless
Jordan Peterson's approach comes from a psychological angle. While Ft. Moses has a more religious approach.
I respect both and have learnt many things from both of them.
Good point both are good
Jordan Peterson does not pat anyone on the back. He shakes his finger at you "you're not all you can be". And we love it
Jesus saves.
Moses! ❤
if you're seeing this comment, it might be a sign to read 'Magnetic Aura' from Talesio ❤️

You reminded me of what I once did to feel Hope, thank you Father. Have a good Sabbath.
You got a long way to go trust me
GOD Bless you and your family Brother ❤❤❤
This is the first guy ive heard who has an actual understanding of this very mildly complex man.
In 1984, Winston Smith and O'Brien engage in a dialogue where the former, horrified by what the latter has revealed to him within Room 101 of the Ministry of Truth, insists, "There is something in the universe-I don’t know, some spirit, some principle-that you will never overcome," in response to which O'Brien coolly inquires, "Do you believe in God, Winston?" Defeated by this question, Winston answers simply: "No."
I like Jordan Peterson, and have learned much from him, but two of his major influences are Carl Jung, a Hermeticist (read: alchemist)/ occultist, and Joseph Campbell, a disciple of Jung's.
🙋♂️ saludos padre moses
First time I've accessed one of your video's and although I'm usually disappointed with most youtube evangelists, clerics, and theologians who too often are pre-occupied with dogmatism , obscurantist fundamentlism and smug moralism , your address here is refreshingly relevant with it's edifying meaningfulness for Christian contemplation . And I'm not even Orthodox !!
And here come the Jordan Peterson haters
This is bait
I love watching religions people, its like watching a blind man run an obstacle course with his shoelaces tied together.
First off, Peterson constantly refers to the logos…..what you called the Holy Spirit….. you are splitting hairs over semantics and completely misquoting or completely ignoring things that Jordan has said.
First off, go glaze Peterson and eat his corn the long way 😂😂😂 you gotta be really lost when you fall for that clown
Thank you for the kind words. I’m a competitive powerlifter. Check out the Instagram @fathermosesmcpherson for weightlifting content.
Nah dude, Peterson has given great reverence to God, but you're abstracting real-life mortal problems with spiritual goals. Not a good assessment.
First of all , Jordan Peterson is dedicated years of his life to his ideas and craft I just hope you guys have done you’re own work before you insult or dissect a brilliant man like him
There’s people in these comments saying he does it for money like come on…
Father: I've recently discovered you on TH-cam and I appreciate your takes on many things.
Never stop this lectures. it helps me and gives me peace thank you.
Jordan peterson is wrong about alot of things , hes a joke .

Father Moses,
I have a question that I think many young men including myself struggle with...
