AJ I was absolutely floored by how outstanding the cast members were during my family’s trip last summer. My son (age 5 during the trip) has autism, he is non-verbal and rides a wheelchair when we’re out in public (for safety/ cognitive concerns/ high elopement risk). The cast members were absolutely extraordinary to him and to my family! They went out of their way to make accommodations for him, and to make our trip extra magical!

One of my favorite things about Disney is how they really work with people or children that have disabilities the cast members will really go above and beyond and they try to make Disney such a special place for everybody for anyone who has health issues for anyone who is in a wheelchair or has medical issues. It always makes me feel emotional especially when I do see someone who is battling something it makes me thankful for every little thing❤❤

Things that shocked me: how early the skyliner closed. Half of my party got stuck on a broken ride a half hour past Epcot closing and by the time they got off the skyliner was closing less than 10 minutes later. Disney took care of us and got us a bus but we were surprised how soon the skyliner closed after epcot.

A tip that could help some people is that, for the fingerprints, in the case of a disabled person the caretaker can have their fingerprint as the logged one. That's what is done for my brother- he has a severe developmental disability, and because doing the fingerprint scan is very difficult for him, my mom is logged as the fingerprint since he never goes anywhere without her. You really just have to ask the cast members/explain your situation and they'll be great about it!

One of my favorite cast members making magic memories was on my first trip in 1993. I was with my grandfather and we got to ride up front on the EPCOT Center monorail. Not only was it awesome for me, but seeing his reaction to such an experience - he looked like a little kid at Christmas - is a magical memory that I still treasure to this day. Super cool for the cast member to give us that opportunity and it's a shame they don't do that anymore (though I can understand why that is).

Things that shocked me: Cinderella’a Royal Table is definitely a tourists trap. Space 220 food is actually GREAT! Free water tastes funny almost everywhere, there’s more merch & food shops than rides 😅, Carousel of progress rules ✌️ Tron is AMAZONG, It’s tough to be a bug is underrated and beats Na’vi river everytime 😎 Going to DW can be PRETTY expensive but I had the best time of my life! EPCOT is mind blowing! And last but not least, THE DISNEY MAGIC IS REAL! ❤

Personally, I think paying tips is for extra services not just regular service. I hate that the US has turned into auto tip world. I saw a self checkout where it asked for tips. A self checkout. Stopped ordering restaurant delivery because a driver got mad when I only tipped $5 for a $20 meal. He thought it should be at least $10. Absurd.

Definitely only use the bus transportation to the parks if you're not pressed for time. If you have a reservation or need to make rope drop, go EARLY or call that Uber/Lyft. In addition to what AJ mentioned, there are a surprising number of stops in each individual resort, and the buses are also the best option for guests using wheelchairs/scooters, which take time to load and strap in (they are actually very efficient at it, but it takes a minute).

  • @amandaberofsky

    • @DAK59

Especially if they continue to reimage the way they have Epcot. It used to be my favorite park. I visited WDW last May and was very disappointed. It's only a shadow of what it was. World Showcase is less about the countries and more about promoting Disney movies. Much of the front half of Epcot was under construction but what was open was not as good as it used to be. I was especially disappointed in what used to be The Living Sea. I will admit that the food was very good at almost every place I tried. I was disappointed in the Toy Story themed barbecue place. The food wasn't that good. All restaurants were overpriced. I can't see returning any time soon. The value for the money just isn't there. I'd rather go to Universal.

In Canada, we customarily tip at 20% so the 18% wouldn't be a problem that would surprise us. Is tipping generally lower in th USA? Being rather budget-minded, we always take purchased food into the parks with us that we prepare in the kitchen before we head out for the day. Doing that takes a lot out of the costs of a visit to WDW.

    • @rachaelfilby9486

we're from the uk but as soon as i read about tipping we just decided to budget for 20% on top of any food costs and $15 extra per person per night for mousekeeping. That way it just becomes part of the overall savings plan

Started off our day in a bad way. They should do away with finger scanning.Other parks do not treat a child with a disability that way.

I just got back from Disney and since I only had one day in magic kingdom and half a day in the other two parks ( I was too tired the second day from walking miles @ magic kingdom, universal, and Disney springs for 4 days prior to do everything I wanted to do at EPCOT and Hollywood Studios) I wanted to make the most of it and do as many rides as I could. I did get most of the rides on the list I made, but Pirates shut down right as I was about to get on it. I think that I most likely would have gotten all the rides on my list if it hadn't. I love pirates so I was sad but I did get all but Pirates and 7 Dwarves Mine Train done so I had fun (and I got to do TRON at night). P.S I also really wanted to ride the Rock 'N' Roller Coaster but I figured out it was down before I left for my trip. I feel like rides malfunction way more at Disney World than at Disney Land. Does anyone else feel that way?

Once we got there, (i got my birthday badge because I couldn´t stop talking about it) and the wonderful cast member at the desk let me get it when we were checking in since we were there. Not only that, but the person let us ride with him (once i got my birthday button) he took us to our hotel room! (thats not normal friends i had some magic dust right as i got there!) Don't forget that if you do happen to need assistance or had to deal with those fees, it helps to have a kind attitude instead of demanding that they give you what you want. If they were being informed in a kind and less aggressive manner, they are probably gonna be *more* likely to let you off the hook! if you're there screaming and shouting that you're "entitled" to your money back, I wouldn't be surprised if they doubled the fee just to spite you. :P
Like, you don't have to grovel, give the helpless puppy eyes, or hire your children to cry in order to persuade them - just act like someone with a brain in tact! People are more likely to actually help you - including listening to the situation - if you're calm about it. They do now have a rule that you have to be nice, so... ;)

i havent been to any disney park while i was able to store memories. I wont lie that is probly one of my biggest complaints about parents of only itty bitty kids. They might have one small memory of something but it could create frustration as an adult. im the older of 2 and i believe i was 3yrs old when we went to disney and the only memory i have of the whole trip was being woken up in the car to go into my aunts house. my sister who was about 2 only remembers a little bit about a dark ride that scared her. Im 40 now and in no way wealthy. I happen to live in florida now but still havent been and all the crowds, lines and prices makes me so leery of going just me and my husband. That ride part is almost criminal, they should always have openings for a line sell the bookings for 90% and leave 10% of the seats open to the ones who didnt know there was a virtual line or all the tips and tricks. its still going to be a long wait but they have a chance to not have their trip ruined just because they didnt know a ride had no in person line.

people getting mad at virtual ques need to understand that if it was standby those ride would be like the mine train and hagrids and uni. this allows for alot more people to get a chance to ride and at this point if you dont know about virtual ques its on you, they have had this in place for years and it sucks but i like it alot more then having to wait over an hour for a ride, its exactly why i have to skip hagrids and the mine train because no ride is worth over an hour wait, just do your research its not that difficult but yeah disney sucks for having to make us think like this but its not gonna change so learn to play the system instead of getting upset because disney is not gonna care if you have a bad or good day regardless

Given the size of the crowds, how long the wait is for literally everything, how far away things are, how much can someone realistically do/see in a day? Go on maybe 2 rides and eat dinner? Its all just so complicated, it really doesn't seem like fun.

Overrated HEA is like a nightmare traffic. It could use Lightning Lanes to see everything on Main Street but could get worse for traffic jams of most leaving MK while going to next attractions. You just can't ever escape befroe the HEA exit theme finishes. Even for those who left MK right after HEA, the son gcould get stuck in their heads. If that and Enchantment take turns or no HEA at all wold help control the traffic. That's why I escape about an hour and a half before that despicable show even starts as the crowds starts packing in (since a nighttime stage show finished on my 50th birthday).
