I really appreciate your response to my comment. I swapped the 24" for a 26" bike. I much prefer the 26" bike even though I have the seat a bit higher than I like so that my legs extend for obtaining the proper position for riding.
That is totally fine. What matters is that you are comfortable when you are riding your bike. These are comfort bikes, and we should be comfortable riding it =)
For some reason it looks to me that you guys in America ride on bikes that are way too small to my understanding. The advice here in the Netherlands is : pedal down, leg fully straight with heel on the pedal. That is the most comfortable position to avoid too much pressure on your knees. I can't reach the ground when I sit on the saddle already since my childhood. 24 inch and 26 inch bikes are children bikes here. 24 inch is here for a child 8-10 years and 26 inch for 10-14 years.

I'm 4'11 but wear foot braces for foot drop. I don't have a lot flex in my feet due to the braces, and also can't really lift my leg over too high to get onto a bike. Right now I have a bike that's a little too small for me, but is ok for now since I'm trying to get comfortable on a bike again after years of not riding. I like the look and style of the bike in this video.

I’m 5’1 using a 26 inch bike and I have to lower the seat to the max, then the problem is it makes it really uncomfortable to pedal that bike

Another helpful video, I was fixating on a 24'' bike, I thought Id feel more secure, I live up a hill, and surrounded by hills, so 20'' isnt an option I assume.. Im taller than Alana, and 26'' was fine.

The bike shop that I went to said my 24" bike frame was a "kid's bike". WTH? Now, I feel self-conscious to the point I don't want to ride the damn thing anymore!
You can ride it as long as it fits you. Having a 24" inch bike is sometimes better than using an over sized bike that is more extreme on height, handlebar and ease of use and thus are most uncomfortable.
Who cares what the bike shop says! Get what you're comfortable on.
@@sharonrichter4187 I am so glad to have made the change from 24" to 26" I have better control and balance. However, still, my legs are a bit short and barely touch the ground when stopped. Nonetheless, I'm having a blast!

It depends on the persons preference if they want to ride a men or women's bike. Also, a women's bike has a smaller frame than the men's, so bike fitting might be essential. =)
