  • This is my lofi isd1820 sampler!
    Schematic: www.dropbox.co...
    My circuit is based on Casper Electronics article on Bastl Instruments website. There's more info there on the ISD chip for example how to easily add voltage and gate controls. I wanted this to be a limited standalone box, but you could easily make this into an eurorack module and add more controls.
    Here's the article: bastl-instrume...
    And the inspiration for the whole thing came from Lonershy’s sampler!
    Lonershy's sampler: • LOFI SAMPLER - MINISHY...
    And his HOW TO video on it: • HOW TO DIY LO FI SAMPLER
    Also go sub to lonershy: / lonershy
    Thanks bye!

    They say that technical limitations of the gear breeds creativity, and by using this inherently flawed chips I see A LOT of your creativity pouring out of them on the other end.
    I love the vibe and the aesthetics.
    Congrats on your artform.

    Could gate inputs be added instead of the buttons and also add vactrols to the pitch pots for cv control?

    • @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV
      @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you could, or have both! You dont even need vactrols for cv inputs, its even easier! If you want to build that, you should check the Bastl website link in the description, there is a schematic with cv and gate inputs. I decided not to include those for mine, because i wanted this to be as simple of a stand alone box as possible. The only thing i regret not includin is a foot pedal input for recording, so i could easily record for example chords etc using both hands.

    Thank you for posting the video ! I would like to build this sampler, but I have a mental block!
    I see it correctly that I only need a CD4069 (mixer) and connect the respective outputs of the channels with the 4069?!
    What I still don't quite understand is:
    Do I need 4 pieces of ISD1820 and connect them to each other from pin 4 to pin 4 and pin 3 to pin 3 of the other 1820? Or does IC1 (1820) take control of all input signals of all channels?
    Sorry my english is not so good so i let google translate translate it! I hope that it is translated in an understandable way!
    Thanks in advance

    • @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV
      @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! You have to build the sampler part of the circuit 4 times, so individual samplers for all the channels. That’s the part i circle with red at 2:08. And yes you connect the input pins 4 & 5 of all the samplers together and then connect all the outputs from pin 9 to the cd4069 mixer input.

    • @maikmario71
      @maikmario71 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LAURISDIYCHANNELTV ...exactly, I will then connect all outputs from pin 9 to the respective SEPARATE inputs of the cd4069 mixer. First I wanted to connect all outputs to one and the same input of the CD4069, but the 4069 has 6 separate inputs and outputs.Sometimes I'm stupid ! Thank you for your feedback signal ! Regards

    • @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV
      @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@maikmario71 no sorry the sampler outputs DO all connect to the same input pin of the cd4069 via the 100k resistors shown in the schematic! So you need 4 separate isd1820 chips and all of the outputs go to the same mixer input! The cd4069 simply adds all the signals together and thats why they all connect to the same pin! And its good to ask these things, i know that sometimes it takes a while to get the connections right!

      Thanks so much! ❤️ yeah i forgot to mention about the input/output connections while filming the video! Both inputs are connected together and i just use one at a time. And the ground connection is there because the smaller input and output connections are actually banana jacks! And banana cables dont have the ground connection built in like in your regular plugs. So if want to connect this to my modular synth that works with banana cables, i also need to connect the grounds of different devices. So you can totally build this with just regular jacks and forget about the ground connector!

      Thanks! 🌞 I dont have an exact link, but you can search ”10pcs arcade push button” on ebay and you can find the same buttons by a lot of sellers and also in different colours! Usually everthing i use is just the cheapest shit you can find on ebay hahah

    How is the mic disconect Switch wired ? I don't see it on the schematic

    • @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV
      @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It simply disconnects one of the two wires coming from the mic! So a simple on-off toggle switch right after the mic capsule.

    So I’m inspired now! Lol quick question, how do you power this device?! Batteries? Or 9v??

    • @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV
      @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m using this with a 12V dc power supply and theres a 5V regulator in the power input of the circuit, but i did this just because i didn’t have any 5V supplies at the time! So the best way would be just a 5V dc power supply! ✌️

    I just started electronics and never used a cd4069… can u help me with that? How to connect al of the 4 channels en go to one output? Thank u!

    • @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV
      @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Oh yeah i guess i forgot to write the pin numbers to the schematic! The sampler outputs all go to pin number 1 of the 4069 via the resistors you can see in the schematic. And pin number 2 is the output! So the triangulat inverter symbol in the schematic is the pins 1 & 2 of the 4069!

    Any reason for the 4069 instead of a proper opamp? A 4069UB, right?

    • @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV

      Yeah its a 4069UB! No actual reason really, i just had done some projects with the 4069 and had a bunch of them laying around

    Hi! where is master volume connected?

    • @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV
      @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      The output from the mixer (marked ”output” in the schematic) connects to pin 1 of an A100K potentiometer. Pin 2 connects to an output jack and pin 3 to ground!

    Forgive me if this is a silly question, but does each sampler module require its own 5v power source, or is this all running off a single LM7805?

  • @claypipkin
    @claypipkin ปีที่แล้ว

    what is the CD4069 doing in that configuration? I expected it to sum the signal but after reading the datasheet I'm just confused?

    • @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV
      @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is summing the individual channels! In a circuit like this its working kinda like an op amp of a mixer, but thats very different from what its originally designed for! You could use a regular op amp, tl082 for example, for the mixer and that would probably be better than the 4069

    What is the value of master volume pot? And, how did you wire it?

    • @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV
      @LAURISDIYCHANNELTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s an A100k pot and the signal goes to the middle lug of the pot. Lug 1 is the output and lug 3 goes to ground! You can also search ’volume pot’ on google and see images of the wiring
